What an awesome tea room! Literally on the Thames!…read more 7 of us booked a table for brunch and were not disappointed! This is quite a big barge and seats about 20 people comfortably, offering a great range of cream teas, sandwiches, breakfasts and drinks. A little quaint, traditional barge tea shop. The cups and saucers are just fabulous and the coffee mugs are varied - all adding to the variety and experience of this wonderful place. The tea is served in leaf form so you have your own strainer, which is really cool! I opted for a full breakfast today which was just right! Unfortunately they had ran out of bacon but I got an extra sausage for that! Locally sourced food which was cooked perfectly from the kitchen you can see at the end of the barge. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering their advice and explaining the food options as well. The service was excellent and relaxed. The most important part of finishing the meal is the separation of the bill, especially in a group. However they offered to spilt this and each of us pay separately, this worked great! Overall, this is place is highly recommended for anytime of the day, relaxing on the Thames, in wonderful surroundings, watching the swans swim by.

Giraffe is rapidly taking over Swindon! This is the second one that has popped up in less than a…read moreyear. While I do like some of the items at Giraffe, I was hoping that they would put in a different restaurant at the outlets to offer more variety. The great thing is that the car park is now open until midnight, meaning if you wanted to go to one of the restaurants for dinner, you now have parking options. It was a weekend, specifically a Saturday so the outlet was very busy. We decided it was time for lunch, but noticed queues for Pizza Express, Wagamama's, KFC, Ed's... so we thought, let's see if there is a wait at Giraffe. There wasn't a wait for tables, but the hostess did inform us that there would be about a 20-30 minute wait for food. At this point we knew we would be waiting anywhere we went, so we told her it was no problem. The restaurant does have an "outdoor" area... I say "outdoor" because it isn't actually outdoor, but it is outside of the main part of the restaurant and I believe it has a play area. We were seated in a very tight area, where Mr. Snarky ended up partially in a walkway where the wait staff were buzzing through and I was being shaken/moved by the very enthusiastic lady sitting behind me. We would have requested another table, but it looked like the other tables hadn't been cleaned off. We made due and fortunately no one ended up with food spilled on them. While we were waiting, I thought I would check in on my handy Yelp! app, but noticed that there must be a black spot for data coverage. Mr. Snarky checked his phone and had the same problem... so just be aware of that as I don't believe there is wifi coverage in the restaurant. I was sad to see that the menu has been changed a bit and my favourite vegetarian burrito is not on the menu anymore :/. No, I am not a vegetarian, but this is one of those dishes I will happily ignore meat for. It meant time to try something new. I decided to try one of their pasta dishes since I have never had pasta at Giraffe before. I tried the "Milanese" Chicken Linguine and Mr. Snarky had the Chorizo Sausage Carbonara. I didn't think the wait for food was as long as the hostess had quoted. In fact, I think we waited longer for someone to acknowledge us and take our drinks order than we did for our food. We did order some garlic bread and we are always thrown off when this green bread comes out to us. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be pesto, but it just tastes like garlic. Our pasta looked delicious when it came to us. The food was good, but nothing life changing. In fact, we noticed that my dish is very similar to a dish that I make at home when I have leftover cherry tomatoes or don't want a heavy sauce like bolognese or ragu. Overall our meal was good, service was a bit hit and miss, but if you happen to be at the outlet and looking for a place to have a meal, you now have another option!

Experience at 10am on a Saturday…read more I visited the Green Bird Cafe in Bath after seeing all the glowing reviews, and to be fair, things started off well. The food was good, service was pleasant -- until the cafe got busy. That's when the experience soured. After finishing our meal, we were leisurely enjoying the last sips of our coffee, preparing to pay and leave. But instead of being allowed to finish on our own terms, we were asked -- quite bluntly -- to shuffle down across a table to make room for more customers. It was awkward, unnecessary, and frankly, made us feel like cattle being herded to optimise their table turnover. In all my years of dining, brunching, and travelling across multiple countries, I've never encountered a request like that in any cafe or restaurant. It completely undercut what was an otherwise good experience and left us with a bitter aftertaste -- quite literally and figuratively. To top it off, staff seemed to disappear when it came time to address the issue, save for one person who eventually surfaced to take some feedback. But by then, the damage was done. Sadly, I won't be returning. If the priority is quantity over quality of experience, I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere.
