    The Hive Breakfast

The Hive was just down the street from my vacation house, and it seemed like a popular place. I walked down and was greeted immediately. My family and I (tourists) were in a hurry to get on the road, so I ordered the Hive Breakfast for myself and a slice of Mango, Lime, and Coconut cake for my mom. I was surprised they packed my breakfast into a box so neatly; it slid onto the plate at our vacation house as pictured! Everything was delicious and made in house (easy to taste that nothing came from a tin). They offered me a seat on the cozy couch by the window while I waited for my takeaway, so I didn't feel like I was in anyone's way. Must visit if you're centrally-located in Stow.

Roast Ham and Sticky Pickle Sandwich = yum

What a great eatery at Stow on the Wold! We had the Roast Ham & Sticky Pickle sandwich which was AMAZing ( the bread alone will have your taste buds dancing). Also the Open Smoked Salmon, the scone and the warm potatoes! All good and all served up with happy and attentive staff.

Quaint Breakfast and lunch Cafe owned by a cheerful couple with great food

We were staying in the historic town of Stow of the Wold and discovered this cute cafe that served wonderful breakfast, traditional and vegetarian so we dropped in. The food was delicious, coffee great and the owners wife makes the scones which were awesome. My husband had the traditional English breakfast and I craved something lighter so I ordered the avocado mash and jam on toast with fried egg and side of back bacon. The food was excellent, nice ambience, very friendly owners. Wish I could eat here again.

Full English breakfast: ham, sausage, baked beans, 2 eggs on sourdough toast, mushrooms

We were sat upstairs near the window and it was nice and quiet there. Everything we ordered was delicious and we enjoyed our time here. Scone with cream and jam. I ordered plain scone. It was delicious. Warm fresh scone served with yummy cream and jam. I also ordered the chocolate cake tea with the scone and it was surprisingly good. Had some chocolate flavor and tasted good with milk. Hubby ordered Mac and cheese and it was served piping hot with a slice of garlic bread. Pretty good too! Kiddo ordered hot chocolate with marshmallows and a chocolate cake. The cake itself was soft and moist and not overly sweet. Went well with the tea and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate seemed standard and she seemed to like it. The place is not overly pricey for a touristy place. Service was also good and friendly.

I would definitely recommend trying Lucy's when you're in the Cotswolds.

I like how they had a nice kids menu for £10 and kids scarfed down the cheesy pasta happily. I ordered one of the specials which was a halibut (£36) and it was super delicious! Gnocchi and fish were seasoned and cooked perfectly and I couldn't stop trying to eat every last bite. Other two in the party had the peri peri chicken and burger, both also praising the food. It was a very memorable meal and highly recommend it!

Smoked salmon, prawn, and avocado with lemon and dill mayo (2/5): could use some work. The salmon and prawn weren't thoroughly seasoned and flavored. As a result, it made the texture feel like I was eating slime and wasn't pleasant. The greens were good though. I also wish there were more avocados. Overall, Cotswold Baguette is a small and tiny shop known more for their sandwiches. If you really do want a salad I would stay away from the ones that contain seafood or get it without it.

Lots of sandwich options - all on the housemade baguette AND made to order too! - with many vegetarian and vegan choices. We had the Avocado, Sweet Potato Falafel, & Tomato Chutney (£4.30, vegan) and the Brie & Cranberry sandwiches (£3.80, vegetarian). They were equally delicious in their own right, generously filled, and satisfying! I would absolutely order both of them again! Despite the crowd, the small space was clean and the staff was friendly (taking an extra moment to verify vegan ingredients, for example; and not just for us, but we overheard them checking-in with everyone in line about their order). And they moved people through the queue quite quickly. We brought our sandwiches to St Edward's Church and had a picnic. There's lots of other things to get here too if sandwiches aren't your thing (but these really should be) like salads, baked potatoes, cakes, Scotch eggs, and sausage rolls!
