Love this restaurant! Food is always delicious, and the service was great. Only thing that ever changes that is how busy the restaurant is- some of the servers are just more frantic (understandably) during a rush. Otherwise, one of our favorite places to eat and hang out!

The Bocci courts are beyond the windows.

Haven't been here in over a decade since relocating to Boston. I must say, the food was great, my friend and I spit a fabulous (huge) pasta dish, which she was craving, and I could not stop dipping my fresh made bread into, as she did also. We sat at the back bar, which I believe is considered the Bocci Bar, which was located right next to the traditional bocci ball courts On the right. The one man band was playing some cool toons from the Complete Unknown. which I found chill and relaxing. The aroma from the fire pit was an extra plus...made itfeel like home. Would we come here again for food and vibe...absolutely! Can't wait to enjoy this atmosphere again! The only thing I would wish is that they would have more IPAs and Sours on tap for the beer drinkers like myself I must add that that the back bar visuals should be wicked cool in the summer since they have their original grape vines hanging overhead....again...wicked cool! Can't wait to enjoy a meal and some cocktails again here!

A soggy hoagie thrown together and thrown in the trash.

I am so disappointed in this restaurant after dining in several times. I called in a pick up order for 3 Italian hoagies and a pepperoni pizza. When I opened the container with the hoagie I almost fainted. I have never seen a hoagie that was thrown together with over ripe tomatoes that were sliced thick and were very watery. I would have never expected anything from this restaurant that was as inedible. I immediately called the restaurant to speak with a manager, I left my number hoping to get a return call which never happened. I called the next morning and was told there wasn't anyone on duty that could do anything about it because the manager was in Italy. I plan to never spend another dime there. It's obvious that they are not concerned with customer satisfaction.

PIZZA: Above average tasting. Canned tomatoes in the sauce detract from the flavor. So do the canned mushrooms. CHEESESTEAKS: Cheap beef but tasty. HOAGIES: Above average. SERVICE: Slower than a dead snail swimming in frozen molasses. Plan on waiting an hour or more for food after ordering in the restaurant, whether eat-in or takeout. PRICES: Very high considering the tiny portions. ATMOSPHERE: The arrogant owner belittles employees in front of customers. Negative vibes. Also, food preparation occurs behind closed doors, so there is no way to monitor it for contamination whether deliberate or accidental. NEIGHBORHOOD: Gradually decaying as more low class people move in but still nice by Philly standards.

A slight step up from your average pizza shoppe yet not quite the Italian cafe it aspires to be. Cade Michelangelo is offering take out as well as outdoor dining during the COVID crisis. They offer an out door bar, covered outdoor seating and large industrial fans to circulate the air on these hot summer days. Paper tablecloths adorn the tables and can be easily replaced for the next dining party. We came for lunch and enjoyed a calzone and sandwich. Balsamic chicken sandwich to be precise. This thinly pounded breast was dripping with balsamic glaze (don't wear white if planning on this option) not quite packing in the flavor as one would expect with the abundance of sauce. Lackluster but for the price was acceptable. Calzone was tasty yet some ricotta still remained chilled inside. Waitress was pleasant and the only one caring for outdoor patrons on a Friday afternoon which wasn't much of an issue as it was only us and one or two at the bar. All in all we would return yet nothing to brag on or insist one try. A neighborhood place with real meals as well as pizza choices it offers an option for the Bustleton area diners

Leah was a very good waitress and was quick with serving us! She brought our food out quickly and checked on us multiple times. Compared to my experience from hell last time- this was so much better! The food was very good and the service was great! Glad I gave this place another try because everything tasted as good as I remember it tasting before my experience from hell and they actually lived up to there stars that they earn on Yelp. My party of 5 ended up coming for dinner and coming around 630, it was a bit crowded but most of the crowd were sitting outside on the patio since the weather was so good today. We were seated and greeted by our waitress Leah right away. She served our drinks quickly and took our orders. I got the Large Chicken Cesar Salad and shared it with my mom- it was HUGE!!! My sister and her husband also ordered the salad and they ordered a large pepperoni pizza and me and my mom shared a small white with spinach and ricotta cheese. The salad was honestly enough food and we ended up having leftover pizza. My daughter got the chicken fingers and fries and the fries had American cheese on it! She enjoyed her meal as well. All of our food was delish and I am glad my sister, another Yelper talked me into coming back and giving them another chance!!!

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. We got the salted caramel budino for dessert too, and I was glad it wasn't one of those desserts that's so sweet you can only handle two bites. Would go back honestly. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

Makes it a great spot for a pizza date night. The pizzas absolutely are the star and they care about the quality that they put out. I've never had a pizza that wasn't within their consistent standard. The corn pizza, when in season, is a stunner and a reason to go on its own. The small plates are all delicious and if you like wine, the list they have is really strong always. All of the above said, every single time I go I see the bill and I say to myself, "oh that was a little more than I thought it was going to be." Has it stopped me from going back? No! And I don't think it should be a deterrent, but good to keep in mind. Like I said, the food is so great and the staff is as well. As a whole package, though? 4-stars!
