This is my favorite brunch spot in the Boston area. I am a sucker for Israeli food and they do it so well. Have been once on a Saturday at noon and had no wait for a table for four. Another time on a Sunday at 11:30am and waited 20 minutes for a table for three. The hummus bowls are the best - I've had both the chicken shawarma and the falafel. I wish you could order just a side of the falafel, it's perfect. The eggplant and cauliflower mezzes are also both delicious, as are the halloumi fries. The halva babka was maybe the only disappointment I've had - it was cloyingly sweet and an awfully tiny slice for $6, which felt absurdly over priced. read more

Post businesses opening back up they are still using the online menu for orders which may have contributed to the horrible service we (and others) received. We were near where coffees came up and my partner watched as coffees kept coming up, the bell was rung, and they sat and sat, one waiting for a least 10 minutes, so I hope that person wanted cold (not iced) coffee. No one ever checked on us and at any point and at the end of the meal I was trying to get anyone who walked bys attention to ask for a box. I had the mediterranean energy shake which was so thick it was impossible to drink, even by the end of our brunch. We each had a shakshuka, mine with cheese and his with eggplant, both of which were great. They give you 2 large pitas and a lot of the side (we got different types of potato). read more

A haven for vegetarians and vegans- their fresh bread, tahini, and vegan schawarma blew me away!! My friend said we were getting Mediterranean for dinner and I expected hummus and falafel. Cafe Landwer offers so much more. The decor is this adorable modern meets classic diner. If you're a place that judges restaurants by their bathrooms, you will be pleased. The menu labels items that are vegetarian or vegan. They have multiple plant based options that are out of the ordinary. They had 2-3 versions of dishes with soy strips, including the vegan shawarma. I was skeptical of "soy strips", since it's not the most appetizing description, but it was so delicious. The coloring was right on- nice and browned. The texture was meaty and it was well seasoned. I got the shawarma + focaccia which was a generous portion and very filling. The focaccia was super fresh and doughy. I got a side of sweet potato fries, too, (don't judge me- I skipped lunch), and they were crisped to perfection. I will come back here time and time again. Highly recommended! 1st off, the service is amazing. Everyone who works there is friendly, personable, attentive, everything a restaurant should have in their staff. Definitely has that family feel when your eating there. I got the famous breakfast. My boyfriend got Sinia Shakshouka, it was incredibly flavorful, had lamb pieces cooked in a tomato sauce with an egg and a bread of his choice. Mine was amazing as well. A big smorgasbord of spreads. I was highly satisfied, I felt really good after eating it. I would love to have that for breakfast all the time! We also took a piece of Babka to go. Our entry was pleasant (we had a reservation), but there seemed to be some controversy at the front desk - they had recently sent the wrong order to a delivery order. We were seated and instructed to use the QR code. We had used a similar ToastTab software installation at a place in NY and they combined our orders and asked if we anted combined checks or separate ones. Those were not options on the version in use at Cafe Landwer. Two of us ordered first (separately) and the second two ordered about 5 minutes later on one more order. The first had food and drinks came out quickly, the second order had their coffee quickly and the last two got their food and drinks shortly after. And then we waited. Nearly 30 minutes for order #2's food to come out. This is after people at our table, people at the next two tables and all those around us and seated after received their food. When we inquired (multiple times) we were told it was our fault for ordering separately. First, how about a sorry and not blaming the customer for using your instructed online service. It got kind of old to hear from multiple people that they simple sandwich was delayed 30 minutes because one person ordered 1 minute after the other and 5 minutes before the last two at our table. We were anxiously watching the food window and what we saw were some very larget takeout/delivery orders being fulfilled and are fairly certain our food went to one of those orders by mistake. We eventually got our food, but had to enlist the host and then he had to wait at the window for our item. It was a really unpleasant experience and I wouldn't eat here again. The food itself was average; the coffee is more bitter like Starbucks style - not to my preference. The other plates going by looked good, but I can't recommend the salmon sandwich or the egg sandwich. read more

The chicken noodle soup was actually a bit disappointing - it tasted like the bottom of the pot, too salty, and vegetables not fresh enough. The "Sinia Kebab , Mixed Beef and Lamb Kebabs, Tahini, Charbroiled Eggplant, Tomato, Red Onion, Chickpeas, and Parsley on a Hot Stone-Oven Baked Focaccia with a Chopped Salad" was excellent. The bread was fresh, the eggplant sufficiently soft, the red onion and tomato sliced and then little bit roasted, was most impressive. There are a great variety of dishes here at this diner, so be sure to try any number of them! read more

I don't- usually put energy to offering Reviews, but do read them. We usually go to this restaurant on Beacon St, tonight at Cleveland Circle. The food seems fresh and delicious, consistently. The cauliflower is a stand- out! Fetoush Salad, at $18.00, without a protein, was just- ok, had just 3 Croutons, the best part! Panera gives a better, less- expensive Salad and larger portion. The menu is expensive, similar to most upscale salad/ pub- type places. We arrived around 6:pm, not- too busy. Servers were good, working hard, friendly, polite. The 2 Staff Members who were working to Seat people and the seeming- Manager- did not make eye- contact, smile, make- acknowledgement's when we said thank- you or asked for things like sugar for coffee, more napkins, take- out containers. The seeming- Manager literally- threw the take- out boxes on the table and looked annoyed when we asked for a bag to put them in. And, annoyed- again when we asked for the check, as no one was making eye- contact, noticing we were done or hearing as we said, "Excuse me..." as they flew back and forth, ignoring us. i understand being stressed and Restaurant work is hard. Delicious food and cozy atmosphere. I got the sinia kabob, which was a large pita wrap with meats and vegetables inside. The eggplant was very well done. I had enough to take some home for leftovers! The only thing is that at exactly 3pm right as I was in the middle of ordering, the server snatched the lunch menu out of our hands and gave us the dinner menu, which was essentially the same thing but more expensive. Cafe Landwer was such an adorable lunch spot! The online ordering process helped my friends and I take our time while deciding what to eat which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was easy to customize our orders through the online form, and then also pay at our table through the form. We ordered the hummus with kebabs, and two shakshukas (one was the mediterranean one with eggplant cubes, feta, and parsley; I don't remember which was the other one but both are pictured). Additionally, we ordered two sides of halloumi (our fav!) which were super fresh and delicious. Overall, we were very pleased with this meal. Everything came out piping hot and we felt as though it was all freshly prepared. I also ordered the nutella hot chocolate and it was totally worth it. Very warm and comforting. It was just what I needed for the cold fall day. I would highly recommend anyone to go to Cafe Landwer. Love the ambiance here. The selection on the menu is pretty great and they have a lot of neat drink options. At this location, the service was a 4/5. While our waiter was attentive, the food took much longer than expected to arrive. It wasn't until after we got our food that we were informed the kitchen was taking longer because there was a large private party in the back. This is totally fine, but I wish we had been informed prior to ordering because we were in a rush and would've come back later instead. First time in this place. Actually, first time in Boston. I'm staying close so I saw that the café was established in 1919. Well, I thought it gotta be good so I stopped by. The place is really nice. It's like a sophisticated diner. Maybe all diners are like that in Boston, but how would I know? I ordered the kebab. It was like small kafta with the most delicious grilled vegetables. The presenrstion is beautiful. It comes in a bowl that has a large pita bread in the bottom. The beef and the grilled veggies are served inside and it's drizzled with a hummus dressing. Everything was cooked to perfection. It comes with a side salad of cubed cucumbers, tomatoes and I think parsley. Delicious too. I'm going back for more. They have pastries that I need to try and bring some home. Service is also excellent. read more

Super yummy brunch on a rainy day. The Shakshuka was rich and perfect comfort food. The eggs in it were cooked to perfection and the bread was so fresh. The waffle was the perfectly balanced, not too sweet not too savory. The mint sprig was the perfect touch. Not to forget the delicious cold brew and refreshing apple cider Service was also pretty good. Staff was very friendly but we were seated on the bar top and forgotten a little. Don't dine here unless you're prepared to develop a full- blown addiction. I often find myself waking up on Saturday and Sunday mornings craving just about anything from Cafe Landwer. I discovered Cafe Landwer on my first trip to Israel, actually, and was ecstatic when I returned home to Boston and discovered that I could still eat some of my favorite new foods in the States! If you have an open mind, and are willing to try new things, I would highly recommend stopping by. The menu is unlike any other restaurants in the area- and is definitely the type of place Cleveland Circle needed! However, the breadth of options still make this a family friendly restaurants, and just about everyone can find something to eat! Great for almost all preferences and dietary restrictions. They ALWAYS get our takeout order wrong. 100% of the time something is missing or we get charged too much. If you later try to call to let them know, they don't care. For our most recent takeout order, we ordered, among other things, the baba ganoush for $11. It came in a small side cup that was only half full. There was literally 1/2 cup of baby ganoush (4 ounces) for $11. After multiple emails and phone calls, we still haven't had this addressed. It's only $11 but the lack of respect from the management for a frequent customer is super annoying. We used to love going here but will not go back. read more
