Randomly looking for something that was open past 8pm on a Thursday night as my sis n law was in town and wanted to treat us to dinner. Found this in Yelp and boy, we hit a jewel. EVERYTHING we ate was oh so delicious and the staff was very friendly and answered questions we had on the menu. I've been here twice in a week now and still give it 5 stars. I love the variety of different Naan breads... we love the garlic one the best although we haven't tried the chicken one but I'm sure it's delish. I absolutely love this place! I have only been for the lunch buffet but it has such a great variety and the food is so fresh that you just can't go wrong. I tend to prefer Indian buffet because I like a little of everything and I have tried going to lots of other places locally and when traveling and this place still takes number one hands down! read more

My favorite place to get my Indian cuisine fix. I've tried others in town but always end up coming back here. Greeted with a smile, and always smells like heaven. One thing to mention is like many businesses after covid they are short staffed so they sometimes take a little longer than normal, but not enough to lower a star. The chicken tikka masala was very good with the right amount of spice, the amount for the price was smaller than what I expected. The briyani was delicious! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME BY TRYING THIS PLACE. I wish there was an option for zero star, this one deserves it. Everything is wrong with this one, food, service and ambiance. Food they serve here it not even close to what indian food test like. I would say service was the worst part of our experience. They only had 2 person working there, both of them were rude. They were arguing with customers even when their food had problem. I could see that they had dust everywhere in the restaurant, like they have not cleaned it for years. I doubt their food is hygienic. We went there for a dinner and decided to leave after appetizers. The food is great but it is very expensive. Just one order of Chicken Tikki Masala and two garlic naans is $21.50. And there's only about 4 oz of chicken. That's only enough food for one person at $21.50. It's just too expensive. Especially for a to-go order where you aren't even requiring the staff to wait on you. Sometimes you just have to deal with what you got. The service is slow here when you dine in and the food is slightly better than the other Indian restaurant down the road. The first time we ordered Chicken Bhuna, Chicken Tikka Masala, 2 garlic naans and some plain rice. Like I said food is slightly tastier than the other place. Came another time and ordered take out. Ordered chicken bhuna, chicken tikka masala, Bombay aloo, 2 garlic naans. The garlic naans had little to no garlic when we tasted it, so we added more at home. The chicken bhuna was okay. A little watery from what I'm use to I guess. I'm just use to eating a dry curry so I wasn't sure what I got. The chicken was tender but can't say I liked the flavor. Chicken tikka masala is my husband's favorite dish at any Indian restaurant. He liked his buttery, creamy chicken. The Bombay aloo was edible, but I think it's missing something to bring it over the top. And why does it have so much water and sauce with it. Maybe I'm getting all the names wrong when I order. Had the chicken tikka masala, the chicken malai and the garlic naan. SO GOOD. They were out of my first choice of beer so we went with the Flying Horse lager, which turned out to be quite delightful. Its crisp finish paired perfectly with the heat from the Tikka Masala. We'll be back!! read more

Hands down one of the best Indian places I've ever eaten at. We came for the weekday lunch buffet, and I was mad at my boyfriend for not taking me here sooner. Our bill for two was $19 and some change after tax! Carnivores and vegetarians can eat together in peace here. The buffet spread included two types of rice, a spinach dish, samosas, a combo of veggies deep fried, another veggie dish, chicken curry, chickpeas, tandoori chicken, and--my absolute favorite-- butter chicken. Tandoori chicken was so delicious, juicy, and flavorful. But can we talk about the butter chicken?? My god, I could drink the sauce. I basically did since I was using our naan merely as a vessel to shovel as much sauce as possible into my mouth. I'm typing this with a goofy half grin on my face because that's how delicious everything was. I can't wait to stuff my face again here. P.s. The food here was not upto the mark but that's not my complaint at all. It was a busy evening and one of the waitresses was very rude to us despite being a very accommodative group ourself. I understand its hard when you are understaffed and the evening gets busy, but that doesn't change that fact that you need to be polite. May or may not go back but I had a bad experience. read more

Although the food is decent (not fantastic), the service was slow and unfriendly and the portions were small. It took over forty minutes for my husband's and my food to arrive around around 8:00 PM when the restaurant maybe had three or four other occupied tables. The server forgot our dessert, got our orders mixed up, and gave us very short, stoic, unsmiling answers to any questions. We were also unimpressed with the small portion size of the appetizers and servings of naan (1 slice of naan per $3 serving). When we asked our server if it was typical to only receive one piece of naan she replied with a curt, "yeah." As a side note, the host was prompt, amiable, and skilled at trying to smooth feelings over for other frustrated patrons waiting too long for their food to arrive. He was maybe the best part of our dining experience. If you're desperate for Indian food and the other places in town are closed, this might be a good choice. Otherwise, I'd skip it unless they decide to change ownership again, in which case maybe it'd be worth another try. ‍ read more

I have been sitting here for past 2 hours (not exaggerating at all) and have ordered food for a group of 8!! I understand it is a big group but we ordered two plates of three dishes and WE HAVE STILL NOT BEEN SERVED.!!!!We were told it would take 40 mins to get the food which sounded pretty long considering the available food options but we were okay with it as we were excited about having good Indian food on our way back from Sequoia NP!! This is my family's favorite local restaurant. The lunch buffet never disappoints! Samosas are perfect, as is the gulab jamun... The potato dishes are great and sometimes they have a butter chicken type sauce with homemade cheese that is out of this world! Service is the family and they are very nice. read more

Wonderful food! This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Central Valley! They use all fresh items & don't over sweeten the food! The tamarind dipping sauce was devine! You could taste the tang of the tamarind & not sweet syrup instead, like many other Indian restaurants! The mint sauce with cilantro, bell pepper & onion had a nice, clean fresh taste. I tried a new to me item - mushroom masala. It was absolutely wonderful! Reminded me of beef stroganoff without meat! This restaurant is a great gluten-free choice as all except the Naan are gf. The quality of their food has gone down hill ever since the owner's decision to transition to a buffet style restaurant. The food was lacking in spice and flavor, and frankly I've had better Indian food in food courts (and yes, I have actually had food court Indian food and it was really, really good). Very good food, I personally love their samosas, and I like their malai as a vegetarian leaning person. I eat eat here a fair amount, and haven't had a problem. However, I ordered through GrubHub and whoever backed my bag didn't it close my shrimp malai properly. It dripped through the bag, which then split the bag open and dropped my food. The poor driver looked like he thought I was gonna scream at him. It was all okay and edible in the end, but the next person may not be so lucky. Please pay more attention when packing. Worst Indian food I've ever had. Me, my wife and my brother ate here for the first time. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and it did not have any flavor. You could tell that they did not use real butter or cream to prepare the dish. Absolutely awful. The service was also not accommodating. When my wife complained about the dish the simply offered to add hot sauce. I will never eat here again and i do not recommend this place. read more

I have a friend from India who has been introducing me to Indian food. I was excited to find Cafe India to be an excellent source of quality authentic Indian cuisine. My wife and I are looking forward to exploring the menu and trying their wide variety of dishes. Since it was our first time, we decided on an appetizer sampler. The Vegetable Samosa was awesome! All of the items were very good and our dinner of chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo were both very tasty. I would have eaten more but my tummy would have burst. We came here as last option as everything else was closed in the town. We ordered chicken pakora, malai kofta, yellow dal, samosas, paneer masala, gulab jamun and naan. The food was pretty decent. Dal and gulab jamun were really yummy! Samosas were also good but they looked like frozen samosas which u can find in any indian grocery store. Chicken pakoras was not that great. Lunch Buffet for $9 arguably best restaurant for the price in downtown Visalia. They have buttery chicken and chicken curry which is fabulous, with lots of healthy options. Zucchini, spinach, lentil options, all great for any diet. Price is great. Make sure you get the garlic butter bread they offer, made with real butter. For dinner the have a full menu and complete bar. Amiance is romantic and classic. Tables and floors are clean and service is top notch. On Sundays they have brunch with champagne, for a Sunday Funday. Price goes up to $13 for Sunday only. read more
