Really cute little lounge that's open late and has surprisingly delicious food! We arrived around midnight and we're promptly seated and the waitress was very attentive. Ordered an octopus salad, a ceviche and a side of tostones. They charged me $6 and added TWO tostones in a small container and the whole meal was $40+ which I find ridiculous for the snack size portion they gave us. 2 tostones for $6 is not a side, that's robbery. I asked for a manager to call me back and I never received a call to discuss this matter. Will not be buying from here again. read more

Their drinks are good, atmosphere is lovely. Not going to lie, it looks a little dingy on the outside, but as soon as you go in the atmosphere is pretty cozy feeling. I personally think the customer service is a little meh, but it's more like it's neither good nor bad - basically it doesn't stand out haha But, their tiramisu is GOOD. So if you are going there, definitely check that off of the dessert menu. I've had it twice already and urgh, already want to go back for a 3rd. read more

i have fallen in love with this place so quickly. I found out about it while waiting for a manicure next door (another review) and it was love at first everything. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. There is music playing always! (big plus for me) The menu features beer and wine, delicious espresso drinks, pastries, yummy gelatto and appetizers. i recommend for an after work beer, Saturday coffee, after date stop, meet friends, you name it! This place was great! The staff was friendly. Food was great, we had coconut shrimp (mmm!) and cheese dumpling - both appetizers. I also ordered the pomegranite martini, so yummy! There was a lot of local art hanging on the walls, one of my favorite parts about this cafe. The other half of the cafe has a bar which seems to attract more clientele. Cafe Gigu is a hidden gem in Eastie that has become my go to for cocktails when I'm in the area. I've been here several times during the week for drinks. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, and I love the Latin music. They have a ton of cocktails to choose from with something for everyone's taste. My favorite is the Tiramisu Martini - its topped with cinnamon which is a great touch. Drinks are consistently well made and the bartenders are always friendly and quick. I've also been here during the day alone for lunch. I was in east boston and needed a place with wifi to get some work done. The cozy armchairs, free wifi, and the sangria (I had to try a glass.. Or two...) made for a perfect place to work. I ordered a panini and enjoyed it. Will be back soon for dinner! read more

I first came here during the day and got good coffee for $1 and free wifi. Hard to beat that in Boston. Im here now at about 10:30 at night on a Saturday amd thr atmosphere is real chill. A very good place to invite friends out for drinks where the good latin music isn't so loud you can't hear each other, but loud enough that others won't listen in. Stopped in after a flight at Logan (I was picking people up) was seriously delayed due to storms. The service was amazing: I ran in really just needing a break, the bartender was really understanding. I just ordered the passion fruit mousse, he gave me a glass of water, respected my timeframe (flight landed while I sat at the bar), and was genuinely kind. Wow, what an amazing place! I highly recommend this cafe/lounge because the staff and owners really seem to care about their customers and it shows in the great service they provide. The food and drinks are always consistent and delicious! I've hosted small company events and have held business meetings at Cafe Gigu, it really is a great venue! My new favorite bar in the area! I was recommended this place by an eastie native and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, with dim lighting and latin music playing. The cocktail menu is extensive, creative, and reasonably priced. The passionfruit mojito is very good- you can taste the fresh mint. I went with 2 friends and we split three plates for dinner: a Cuban panini, tequeños, and chicken empanadas. All were delicious, the empanadas were the star. The filling was flavorful and the creamy avocado dipping sauce was great. New favorite spot in eastie! read more

No five star because I'm still in the midst of determining my opinion ... however, I very much do adore this unique little spot. I went today on a whim just to look at the menu and my mouth watered flipping through the menu. I couldn't leave without... just...one... bite (which turned out to be way more!) I ordered the Lychee martini after detailed recommendations from the lovely and knowledgeable waitress along with the tiramisu dessert. This coffee cake heaven disappeared in a matter of seconds after it was placed before me. BIG YUMS! I couldn't help but to want more so I followed it with the lava cake which was excellent. It's their version of a brownie sundae; delicious but it felt like it was missing a 'wow' factor. Overall I spent $20-- what?! Yes, I know. I'm thrilled this spot is so close to Maverick. This is a great place to go for drinks and a snack. The drink list is interesting and extensive. Both the drinks we had were excellently flavored and not overly sweet. We particularly enjoyed the Hawaiian flat bread and the warm brie. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely go back. read more

This is my go to spot. I love the atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night as the drinks are super well priced and the music they play is fantastic. It is on the small side so there is a chance that you might not be able to get a table/seat. This place keeps getting better. They are packed on the weekends (the Salvadoreno BF and I are regulars), drinks are edgy and beautiful. Get the coffee liquor drinks- nice end of the week wake-u-up! My only suggestion is an expansion into the nail salon next door (God knows there are enough of those anyway) and have a dance floor! read more

I went to this bar last weekend with some friends who live in Eastie and I was so impressed by it. The quality of the drinks is outstanding and so fresh, it feels like they just picked the ingredients in their backyard! The dessert menu is out of this world. We had the passion fruit souffle and the tres leches cheesecake, both were amazing! And I love the bachata music playing in the background. Just wish they had a little more space to dance! A true hidden gem in Eastie. Intimate ambiance with Latin music playing throughout. Great place to bring a friend, date, or just sit at the bar enjoy the music with a cocktail.I would say their speciality is their mojitos, the passion fruit mojito is incredible. For dinner I start with their empanadas, followed by a ranchero panini (must try). For dessert I usually go with the creme brûlée. Because La Hacienda was so loud, packed and busy we decided to wonder down Meredian Street and stumbled upon this place. What a great find! It was a Saturday night on a 4th of July and the place was just perfect. The music in the background was just to the perfect noise level and they were playing nothing but the best old school salsa. The late dinning menu wasn't as extensive but everything in it looked delicious and not to mention that it's a menu looking to please every palate. I had a cure meat board and it was delicious; $9.5 for half bottle of Prosecco? Yes Please! My date had the spinach dip and that was cheesy and delicious as well. I will definitely come back more often, its cozy, it's cute, the service was nice and fast and again... it's not a menu that only focuses on yellow rice, beans and chicken and I love and respect that from a place where everything and almost everyone is from central America. read more

It closes late and there's free wi-fi (although the 6pm curfew on the wi-fi is a complete turn off!) The owner is quite a cool guy and there's promotion of artists' works. We don't eat in East Boston very often as we live west of Boston, but since we had just dropped off a friend at the airport, we stopped in here, based on the positive rating it earned on Yelp. The rating is well deserved! The service was outstanding, the food is excellent bar food, and I have never been to a cafe/bar where the TV is tuned to the science channel! (My husband usually loves sports but he actually loved the science channel there!) Prices are very good. We will be back there. read more

I Visited Boston first time in life and was told that I needed to try this establishment, Well I was in for the Best treat in Life, the Atmosphere was not only welcoming, but it was like I was with Friends and Family in a Quaint setting, I was greeted by the Hostess, and needless to say it was very warm and inviting. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and thought ok, I'm trying something New, OMG, fell in love with it, not only warm and fresh bread the Meat was fresh, like it was just carved. The Drinks are amazing, I tried a guava mixed drink and was completely overwhelmed, and then my favorite was the Mai Tai, if I could have I wanted to try them all, GiGU, is a hidden little Nook, where you can go and feel like your among family, The Owner " Paula " so welcoming and inviting even with a full staff she still sits down with the customers and has conversation, making sure that your not just a customer but a new friend being welcomed in off the street, the Staff is wonderful from the Hostesses to the Bartender Jhon, GiGU is Amazing!!!!! Great place! Seen cops, college students, nurses, cab drivers and local neighbours here. Gina is sweet and super friendly. Nice atmosphere from the comfy chairs to the barstools. Open till 9:30pm and has great potential for being the new after work place to grab a drink and speak about a spectrum of subjects from politics to sports. Which is where the huge tv mounted to the wall at the bar area comes in handy! Nice Latin music playing in the background is the norm but Gina will accommodate tasteful requests for various music and television selections. Not sure about credit cards yet as I have been using cash but the selection of wine, beer and cordials is good. read more
