It's hard for me to leave this review, because I honestly enjoy the food at Cafe Gia. The reason for the 1 star is that whoever is communicating the orders to the cooks cant follow instructions. It has happened to me time and time again. They are extremely simple orders, but if you aren't listening, that's the only way you would get them incorrect. Tonight we happened to be having a rainstorm. My husband went to go pick up two chicken parm heros with extra sauce on the side. I ordered them over the phone with someone and she was about to charge me $30 dollars when I asked why it was so expensive for heroes. She said she accidentally rang us up for 3 heroes. Fine, mistakes happen, but unfortunately they happen a lot here. The heroes were picked up and brought back here and somehow they managed to give us a "sausage parm hero and 1 chicken parm hero". Not really sure how. So I called and was told they could do 3 things for me. 1. Keep the food and eat it 2. Come back and be given the correct order or 3. Refund me. Why didn't they offer to deliver the food to us? We had to go all the way back there to get the correct order when it should have been given to us the first time. That's not right. We also don't live extremely close. So my husband went back to her the correct order and he was told "sorry we are just really busy". I'm glad you are really busy, but if I said that I was really busy at my job and constantly messed stuff up, I wouldn't have a job! They also forgot the extra sauce so he had to go back inside to get that! I'm not understanding now such a SIMPLE order can be messed up to this degree? How? In the past we asked for these same exact heroes with extra sauce and were given zero sauce. How does this happen? We have frequented the other pizza places in the area and they seem to always get it right. It's not a continual issue where it's ALWAYS wrong. My husband asked for a refund because he started getting annoyed and he was told sorry we can't because it's on a card. I have never heard of that. Also, for a place that is SO busy- why are you charging your customers extra money if they pay with a card opposed to cash? This isn't the 1950s. Most people travel with cards. I am disappointed. I loved this place when it first opened years ago. I am getting sick of having an issue WEEKLY when we order simple things. I hope someone contacts me about this and let's me know that something will be done. read more

Ate here four times in a week while in town on business last week. The pizza was fantastic, but the highlight was the chicken parm which is the best I've ever had. There's a lot of complaints on here about the service but each of the four times I went the service was quick and extra friendly, mainly young college age people eager to please. They have the best sauces. ANyone who appreciates a good sauce will love any one of their choices. Can not say enough about this place. Everything is always fresh. I love the food from here normally but tonight I ordered the chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks to go and I got home and the chicken fingers were overcooked, tough and dry on the outside and the chicken didn't taste 100% fresh like it always does (except for 1 other time a while back when it tasted like this). It tasted like when you buy chicken fingers from the supermarket and open it to make the first time around and leave the unprepared chicken in the refrigerator for 5 days then cook the rest of them instead of freezing the left overs not made the first time around so they keep their freshness. Just went there to get a salad to go before I checked in to my hotel room. Upon getting to my hotel room I found my order to the wrong. I asked for no olives and found the salad festooned with them. I also asked for balsamic dressing on the side, and all I got was balsamic vinegar, not dressing. I do not think that it is too much to ask for the only two things that I requested to be correct. I'm going to start this review with, this Italian pizzeria is EXTREMELY OVER PRICED. This Place is like every other mediocre Italian pizzeria, nothing special, pizza is ok, pasta is decent, sauce is extremely oily. Today I placed an order ,one I placed many times(now, if you wondering why I will continue to frequent at a mediocre pizzeria is because if it's not actually for me, it's for my boyfriend and his kids and the pizzeria is in my job parking lot) Penni alla vodka with no prosciutto add 6 shrimp/ and two Sicilian slices. I get there and they tell me the total is $35 and I'm like impossible I get this all the time it should be $28.. guy goes through the order And is like the shrimp are two dollars each, I've been ordering this for years and the shrimp have always been a dollar each, these are not some jumbo shrimp's or anything like that these are regular size shrimp nothing special, they have the nerve to charge me $12 FOR 6 shrimp . which is what it is if they want to over price their stuff that's fine, but you should at least have the respect for your customers to let them know what they're paying for. What bothers me about this is that every time I've placed this order They've ALWAYS let me know it's a dollar extra. All of a sudden the shrimp is doubled and nothing is said. I wonder how many other people they've done this too. My wife and I go there several times a year. The selection is okay but not the best. What bothered me the last time we went there was that we were charged for our soda refill. When I asked why the waitress she said that they have to pay for the carbonation and the owner said to charge for refills. I have never been charged for refills anywhere, I think they are being cheap. Making money on refills when everyone else does not charge is wrong. I will not go there again. read more

My favorite place to come for Italian food since moving to Bellport! Their pizza is amazing, whether you get a regular slice or one of their specialty slices. I would've given this place higher stars if it weren't for the rude staff that they have. My boyfriend and I came in around 9 just to order two slices of pizza and the woman who rang us up made it obvious that she was getting off in a few minutes and did not want to help us. This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is absolutely delicious! I take my book club there every month and I love it!! Our waiter is amazing! We are a big group so we are a lot of work but everyone is always really nice to us! The menu has a wide range of food to choose from. So there is something for everyone. Since I go there every month I have gotten to try a lot of the food and each dish is better than the next! I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone!! We tried this Italian restaurant on the recommendation of a relative, who told us that they preferred Café Gia to The Medford Pastaria. We always enjoyed The Medford Pastaria, so we decided to give this place a try. We were disappointed. The atmosphere is bright and open like an oversized pizzeria. The food is your typical Italian fare, nothing different or exciting, and only adequately prepared. Prices were a little higher than the average Italian restaurant of this style and they give you a choice of salad or pasta with your entrée. Typically salad and pasta are included with the entrée at other Italian restaurants. The staff was young and inexperienced and we had a very long wait for our entrees. Portions were large, as all restaurant portions seem to be, so we asked for a doggy bag. Unfortunately when we left I forgot our leftovers on the table. I realized my oversight before we even got to our car in the parking lot. Yet when I returned, not five minutes after leaving, I was informed that our leftovers had already been thrown away. The only time I didn't want the service to be faster, it was. If I'm in the Medford area and looking for Italian, I'll pass on Café Gia. read more

This pizza place is the best in the area (Medford/Bellport/etc.) Plain is delicious but they have alot of great specialty slices too. I usually like the chicken Caesar salad slice. My only complaint is they often keep that pie too cold and it makes the lettuce frozen and inedible. That's disappointing. They also have good tortellini soup and entrees on the restaurant side. Had server Emily. At first she was nice and seemed like she would be attentive to the table. But right after we order she was basically no where to be found. I noticed her other tables looking around searching for her too. She didn't even tell us it wasn't free refills on sodas so guess makes sense why she never asked if we wanted another one. Nor offered us waters. After finishing our dinners she finally acknowledges us and asked if we wanted our food wrapped. She takes those but still leaves dirty plates left on the tables. Right after that another table of four older lady's came in. Emily all of a sudden was quite attentive even told them their specials they had going on. Which we were never told about. And I would have ordered the soup from it. Our food was good which is why I gave a three so I'd come back but only for take out not to sit down. One more thing I'm writing this from outside the building bc I needed to bring my child back to the car and my fiance waited twenty minutes for her to take the bill to swipe our card and bring it back to the table. Worst customer experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Not only did they forget to make my order I called in, they never at any point addressed me. I eventually had to address them. I watched the kid behind the counter grab half of my order that was sitting on the pizza ovens and bring it back to the kitchen. A half hour later they bring me my order and forget the sides. Since they only had 1 bus boy the wait for them to clean the table was about 20 minutes. Chicken Marsala was delicious but penne ala vodka was awful. More red sauce then pink. The pasta way over cooked. We told the waitress and she simply said oh sorry you didn't like it and walked away. We had to ask for bread for the table and it seemed to be stale. Most good Italian restaurants can make good bread. We order brussetta for appetizer and it was very good. Hard to tell if I'll be back here though. read more

There Sat night w/my daughter and sister-n-law. Although the food is good & filled with tons of specials we were very unhappy. A ROACH climbed on the TABLE and we killed it!!! The waitress was in shock and very sweet. She left us and discussed w/mgr and were told he is aware and they fumigated!!! We were comped two entrees. And charged $22 for two salads, a glass of wine and a soda. The manager/owner never came over to apologize, although I could clearly see him. Maybe if there was a man at our table it would have made a difference. The place was packed. SCARY.. I wonder how many more ROACHES there were that night. FEW THINGS CAFE GIA: I'm a business owner too, in fact my whole family is and we WONT be coming back again. MGR/OWNER you should have personally come over and apologized for the disgusting thing on our table next to our FOOD. Not rely on the staff to do that. YOU also should have COMPED the $22!!! We have brought so many people to your restaurant over the years... BAD BUSINESS. Your waitress was nice and lovely in a situation that truly was a horror. Clean, sterile eating place, not enough of a dive atmosphere to entice me to eat the pizza, which most suburbanite families here seemed to be doing. Maybe it's good, but if its flavoring is as bland as the other items we ordered, I wasn't missing anything. Opted instead for the meatball hero. Bad idea. The meatball was diced up into half inch cubes, and overdoused with some reddish sauce that was supposed to be tomato, I guess, but you couldn't tell. This was obviously a topping which had been pre-prepared for a pizza. The roll was crisply toasted, so that if it had any character to start with, it was gone. Another diner at the table (booths are reserved for the pizza eaters) had an eggplant parmesean hero, with so much cheese-like sauce that she must have gained several pounds and raised her LDL by 50 points. This is not a place for good, or healthy eating. The meal was preceeded by the Mussels appetizer, with an adequate amount of mussels, and a totally inadequate amount of flavor or garlic. Limited variety of slightly overpriced domestic and and foreign bottled beer available. The usual suspects. Two stars strictly for the prompt and courteous service. read more

I was on an Italian kick for a while and my daughter and I enjoyed eating here quite often. The food is very good for the price. We were on a NYC trip and looking for places to eat there. We did not find a decent place and just decided to come home to our town to eat. We had a very good meal and I had some great wine.We came back often after that. The waitress we got all the time was wonderful . We stopped coming here for a while and when we came back she remembered us and was as friendly as she always was. In an environment where Italian restaurants and pizza places are everywhere, this will never be my first, or tenth choice. It was busy on a Saturday night and I took this as a sign that the food would be good. I was disappointed. I asked what kind of red wine they had and was not given any brand names just types, and the Cabernet was horrible and a bit warmer than room temperature. One of the people at the table chose a salad with his dinner and it never arrived. When we asked about it, since the entrees were out, they offered to bring it out or wrap it, but at that point it didn't matter. The bread was never refilled and the waitress disappeared for some time and then blamed "the boy" that worked there for the bread and salad issues. Mediocre service would be forgivable if the food was good but all in all it was kind of bland. Passable but nothing I would seek out again. read more
