You hear the words, claymore cafe and you first of all think of this
amazing edinburgh castle themed place to eat with a great menu, friendly
staff and loads of heritage, what we actually got was mice droppings in
the corner of the room and a dull area with plain walls and a place
with no character definitely would not think it is a place for tourists.
I
went there with my two daughters after picking them up from school,
wanted a quick bite to eat before heading to back to work (and dropping
the kids home). When we entered the shop and castle mill bit (the cafe
is upstairs and right at the back) we were met with the standard tacky
awful Scottish tat for tourists, pretty used to this though and we
though hey, we're right next to the castle what else do you expect?
Coming
into the 'cafe' itt was completely dead except loads of tables and
chairs dumped in a room. That's what it looked like anyway. It was nice
and bright but other than that No one was at the counter bit, but we
sat down and waited. Eventually this lady came though looking like she
could be off the scheme! I have nothing against that, but the way she
acted was just really unprofessional What can I get yeh? she asked in a
pretty rude manor. So my kids ordered a couple of drinks and picked
some meals out of the menu. While we were choosing it seemed like we
were being an inconvenience to her she clearly wanted to get back to her
fag (I'll come to that later). So we sat back down when my 8 year old
daughter pointed down at some black bits on the floor. What are those
mummy she asked me. On closer expectation they were mice droppings.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! And it I didn't want to think what their
kitchen was like. So we left quicker then you could say horrible. I
probably should have stuck about and got a refund on the food, they
probably wouldn't have given it to me anway. But there is no way I would
let my kids eat in a place like that.
Oh yeah and on the way out we saw the 'waitress' happily smoking in the doorway
I have never bothered to write reviews before but I felt I had to warn others about this place, everything about it is awful. read more
