We found this amazing little gem that offers gluten free, dairy free baked goods. We had different flavors of the macarons, a biscotti, cream cheese browne and a cookie with coffee. The flavors were out of this world. It's very hard to find a decent gluten-free café. However. This place rocked it. It had a nice atmosphere and cute place to sit to enjoy the food.

Let me start this review with honesty. I wasn't impressed at first after having so many great expectations for this place due to being mostly vegan/vegetarian plus it is gluten-free and especially after researching the reviews of the food and not the reviews of the owner. So upon entering I thought what a cute place. I then walked to the cooler and grabbed a couple waters from the cooler excited to browse the menu. I then asked the owner a couple normal menu questions and like most people said in the reviews he was awkwardly rude and very unwelcoming to a couple new faces. I was kinda shocked but I hadn't read about him until after we sat down and was trying to decide what to eat. I then started reading reviews about the owner while deciding on what we wanted to eat. He definitely lived up to the words in all his reviews in all ways discussed. To be honest if not for my date I would have said something and then just left. Then after we sat down and drank our bottles of water we decided to move over to the other side of the building where the windows, couch, table and chairs are. He then approached us and asked what we'd like to order. I ordered the grilled cheese and my date ordered the salmon and salad. This is when everything changed drastically and started to make better sense with the help of my date who is European and has traveled the world ten times over. She spoke to him about the world in a brief conversation and we came to find out he was traveled as well during his time training to be a chef and even as a chef. I understand not everyone is the friendliest as I myself can come across that way at times. Needless to say, he became more friendly upon speaking more to him and then the food came. This is when he went from me giving him two stars to five. The grilled cheese was so good that words themselves can't explain it. So inviting to look at and very appeasing to all the senses. It tasted like what heaven would be like on a plate. I was speechless. I didn't even want to finish it because I wanted to savor every bite. The salmon my date ordered was cooked perfect and the flavor was off the charts. The salad was very well prepared. The lettuce, vegetables, nuts and fruit on it were all very fresh. The dressing was just the right flavor for it to. It was like an orchestra in your mouth. Yeah, that good! We finished with some deserts. I got the gluten-free vegan chocolate cupcake with amazing icing that tasted like butter and my date got a gluten-free pecan tarte that was to die for. So listen. Is the owner friendly upon meeting him for the first time, No! Is he really a nice and genuine person, Yes! We all have a story and this guy deserves much more respect than most peoples comments say about him. If you can try to understand him and focus on the food and service first, this place is probably one of the best cafes in the United States. James, thank you for the delicious food. You're an amazing chef. I'll be sure to stop in the next time I am in the area.

Some of the best vegan & gluten-free desserts I've ever had. You really can't tell that they're any different than anything you'd get at a regular bakery. Although it is a little pricey (almost $7 for a piece of cake), it is nice to try once or twice. They have lunch food as well. I originally went there to get their fried avocado slices, which are amazing, but the owner said they were out of avocados for the day. They do have a couple places to sit and eat but I imagine this is mostly a takeout cafe. There isn't a whole lot of parking in the front so you kind of have to make your own parking space. I have a couple of vegan friends that I recommended this place to and they tried it and loved it. Give it a try if you're in the area.

I never knew about this place until I researched Gluten-free options in the Robinson area. It's a bit off the beaten path, but so worth the drive just a few minutes from Settlers Ridge in Robinson. It's a tiny spot, but very cute with some indoor and outdoor seating to eat there. I was more interested in their GF baked goods and let me say that the macaroons did not disappoint!! Chocolate, Raspberry, Chocolate Pistachio and Vanilla; I don't think it's possible to pick a favorite since they were all so good! I couldn't even tell the difference of them being GF. The owner is a quiet and soft spoken man, but very polite and nice. It was busy this afternoon, which is so nice to see patrons supporting a small, local business like this one. I can't wait to go back and try his weekly changing food (lunch) menu. Hello, he is serving avocado fries this week?!

One of the things I enjoy is promoting small businesses and Cafe Chocolade is no exception. I met the owner and chef James who explained to me that everything here is gluten free. They even have a few vegan items available that are gluten free as well. There is a grab and go for pastas, donuts, quiches, etc, and a small sit down dining area. Beverages are also available in an adjoining refrigerator. I learned that Sat. brunch has now been added to the menu. Breads are available as well as I noted on the menu. I believe advance notice is required if ordering the breads. I was eyeing a vegan donut that reminded me of a Whoopie pie. James told me how to prepare it and while we were chatting I decided to eat it in house. He prepared it and put it on a dish with a fork and asked if I needed anything. I was good with what he had given me. I'm a sucker for chocolate and this donut was literally to die for! Even though it had a cream style filling between the two halves it was not too filling. I took the vegan quiche home with me to heat up on my own. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Coffee is available which I plan to try. He told me it comes from Ohio. I liked the fact that everything is made fresh in house. Did I forget to mention the homemade candy? Got to have some next time I come here. Small macaroons are available as well. I looked over the menus and am looking forward to a return trip here so I can enjoy a sit down meal. This is an easy drive if you are in the Robinson Twp area. Take the Rt 22-30 W off the parkway and then take the first exit that leads to Steubenville Pike. You aren't that far from Robinson Town Center or the restaurants nearby. James was very informative and helpful. A great place for gluten free and vegan dining or if you want to just try it out for yourself. I'll most certainly be back!

I always feel like the little guy out in the burbs has to work extra hard among all the chains surrounding it. I love that they're taking a chance (as is every locally owned business) in an area they want to settle in. While this is a little off the beaten path, I was very pleasantly surprised with my experience. Everything is made in house, even down to the pasta. And don't let me forget the beautiful pastries... more on that later. It's a very casual environment, with only a handful of seats. Plus, the menu is very limited, so don't expect to be leafing through pages and pages. But sometimes I think that's almost better, as you're not stuck weeding through too many dishes. We made the best decision possible, splitting our pasta's between a seafood ravioli and sausage and spiral pasta dish with red sauce. You also get a delicious side salad. But it's more of a main salad because it's filled with cucumbers, beans, grapes, tomatoes and dressed with a delicious house made balsamic dressing. I was highly impressed with everything and full until way past 8pm! BUT it didn't just end with a meal, we also had to have dessert, becauase the case looked so tantalizing. They make macaroons, but they also have mini-macaroons that are the cutest things ever. Such a good idea for someone that wants to taste all the different flavors and not feel like their gorging themselves. We picked out almost every flavor and split about 15 or so. Seems like a lot, but like I said, they were mini and worth every bite. The flavors are incredible and those small portions still packed a big punch. If you're in the Robinson area, scrap the trip to Bravo and head here instead!

Words to describe this place... unbelievably delicious, savory, sweet, quaint, chill , relaxed, cute, incredible! I had been meaning to come here for a while and I finally did, and I cannot believe how good it was, why was there not a line outside. Came here with my lady, as it was only 4 mins down the road on which I live. Walked into a house-like lounge-like cafe. Walked to the counter and a man greeted us. This guy had the most down to earth vibe a man could have. Not sure of the order of operations at the restaurant I told him that I had been meaning to visit and try the salads I had heard about (the best salads in Pittsburgh)- he calmly smirked on that comment (as if he knew, we knew he knew, and he knew we knew) he then asked if we knew what we wanted. There were only to food options. We got the shrimp scampi with a salad. and sat. Note that he had an awesome selection of craft sodas and drinks. The right side of the cafe coming in has comfortable little seating area with a couch and also a table for two- thats where we sat. After a little waiting he brought out the salads with shrimp- AND BOY WAS IT A SALAD. Im talking grapes. balls of Parmesan, an array of different greens, hand made croutons, seeds/nuts, red pepper slices, carrots, a radish, topped with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Then came the shrimp, succulent and cooked to perfection- it tasted unbelievable on point with a perfect mix of flavors that did not overwhelm but complimented each other perfectly. Then came dessert- my god the macaroons were perfect. But my favorite was the pistachio chocolate tart and the craft beer cupcake(of his choosing)- all topped off with a cappuccino. A little pricey yes- but you are paying for quality ingredients, healthy food, and a handmade product! I will return and talk this place up. Frankly I am surprised there isn't a line to the parking lot.

Amazing gluten free options! From real food like pasta to deserts like meringues and the cutest mini macarons. Service is excellent. Everything is freshly made so expect a brief wait but they have fresh roasted coffee and comfortable seating to wait.

I visited Cafe Chocolade with my fellow foodie friend, and although the food was fresh and made to order, it was not my favorite cafe I have ever been to. This salad was $9 which I found to be slightly overpriced, as it really was not a lot of food and I was hungry a couple hours later. However, the atmosphere was very homey and there are a variety of vegan/vegetarian/gluten free entrees and desserts, so if you have specific dietary restrictions but want a lot of options to choose from, Cafe Chocolade is the place for you!

What a great surprise find! Yelp! Never disappoints us! Right off the Steubenville Pike, cozy nooks to enjoy a meal or a luscious selection of GF baked goods - a selection of cupcakes, macaroons, quiche, fruit meringue and more! Also a selection of GF pastas and a delicious looking lunch menu add some specialty coffees as well as In house prepared sodas- wow!

Great vegan place with tons of gluten free options! Absolutely love this place. The baked goods are also vegan and gluten free. I would highly recommend if you are a plant based eater. Their menu changes weekly too.

Because we wanted to support a small business in the community that we live in. My personal hope was that it would improve somewhere along the way .My family and I have had horrendous service especially the past three times so unfortunately we will not be going back. Maybe only to order takeout. I will tell you about the past two times. My husband and I walked in on a busy Saturday evening with no reservations (silly I know). Everybody that worked in the whole restaurant walked past multiple times without saying a word. I guess everyone else thought that someone else said greeted us or asked how many. No exaggeration, we stood there for 20 minutes before a bus boy even ask how many. He said he just had to clean a table. He sat us down eventually and I could see/hear a server yelling at the young teen demanding to know why he sat her. He came over to get our drink order and I asked if she was mad that he sat us. He kind of mumbled something and I said,"Well,, if she doesn't want our business then we can just leave." My husband left it up to me and we got up and walked out because at this point I already had a bad taste in my mouth .Having been a server for over 10 years myself I was very offended by this treatment. We are very easy to take care of and are good tippers so she missed out on probably $20 right there. Your staff could say Buddy "I'll be with you in a minute." That would even be better than outright ignoring your customers standing there waiting to give you their business... The very last time we went, I made reservations for my family of four at 6:45 on a Friday. We arrived at about 6:40. Again, every worker in the whole restaurant walked past without acknowledging us. After about 10 minutes a bus boy asked how many. I said four and that we had reservations for 6:45. He didn't say anything and walked away. I could see at least two empty and clean tables on both side sides of the restaurant. At 7:05 I asked the same bus boy what was going on. He said they were just waiting to clean a table, and as I previously stated there were already clean tables. A party came in behind us and another bus boy asked right away if that was the rest of our party. I pretty much said no and that our whole party was here waiting already and that it was just the four of us and we had a reservation for 6:45.He said something about this is why I should've asked you myself. He told us(at 7:10) to follow him and took us to one of the empty booths that had been open the whole time we were standing there. He apologized profusely and then got our drinks. The server that we had wasn't very friendly but took our order right away. The bus boy brought our soups and salad, got us refills, took our dirty plates, and got us boxes. I feel as though he should've gotten the tip seeing as how the server only took our order and dropped the check off. Your bus boys are wonderful and keep your restaurant running smoothly.

I went out on a limb. At home I always cook chicken. It's in constant rotation.... So I decided to order the carne asada and treat myself. His shrimp tacos however were excellent. Our drinks were also very good. We ordered the Manzanita and the Rosalina. Awesome flavors - order the manzanita when you're in the depths of winter and missing that crisp autumn air. If my main course would have been better there would have been more stars.
