I absolutely love this restaurant! My family and I have been going here for quite some time. The food is very tasty, they have decent proportions and the service is always good. The servers are kind, and attentive. The restaurant itself is very clean but it can get noisy on holidays (like most places.) However, we don't mind because the food is great! It is definitely one of our go-to restaurants!

We went to this restaurant because of the Miami Spice Menu and we were very impressed with their selection on the menu. I had called previously to ask if we needed a reservation and the person who answered said we did not. It was early when we arrived it was almost 7 pm and noticed it was quite full. First of all when we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the hostess and asked to wait for a table which was being cleaned. She briefly accommodated us to our table and we were attended quickly with the menus and also were told our waitress would be coming very soon to take our drink and food order. We ordered our drinks first and shortly afterward they arrived. I had a very delicious pineapple margarita and my hubby had the Cabernet which he also said was excellent! My husband decided from the Miami Spice Menu and I ordered from the regular menu. I ordered the salmon with a delicious sauce & mashed potatoes and my hubby had the appetizer which was the yuca with a mozzarella sauce and it was so good! He ordered the churrasco meat and for dessert a crepe with Nutella sauce and ice cream! I must say the meal was wonderful and the restaurant's ambiance was very cozy and pleasant. We enjoyed our dinner together and we had a very good time.. They have a valet parking system.

Café Catula is one of my favorite restaurants in the Kendall area. The décor is superb with the beautiful artwork on display that is accompanied by a well-leveled background music. The place is excellent for a date night. We tried the croquetas de chorizo and tostones with shrimp to start. The shrimp was amazing. We also ordered the sunset snapper and the corvina aragosta. They did not spare on the crab meat for the corvina, and we loved it. However, the sunset snapper was my favorite, the citrous white wine sauce with capers was the perfect accompaniment for the fish. Each of the entrees came with two sides. For dessert, we had the crepe and it was also delicious. The staff was very friendly and well trained in hospitality. One could tell our waiter knew what he was doing, from the timing of bringing our food to refilling our wine glasses. We will definitely return.

Came for lunch on 10/29/23 after a long hiatus. We had a set menu which consisted of: APPETIZER (choose one): Soup Caprese Salad Escargot Crab Cake ENTREE (choose one): New York strip served with mashed potatoes and vegetables Chilean Sea Bass or Black Grouper sautéed with lobster sauce and mushrooms, served with mashed poatotes and vegetables Carmelized duck served with mashed potatoes and vegetables Black linguine with seafood and a lobster tail in white wine and saffron sauce DESSERT (choose one): Tres Guayaba Coconut Flan Dulce De Leche Crepes I ordered the crab cake, the sea bass in lobster sauce and the coconut flan. Everything was delicious but the sea bass in the lobster sauce was to die for!! I also tasted the Tres Guayaba and I wish that I had ordered that instead of the Coconut Flan, even though the flan was really good too!! Honestly, I've been dreaming of the food ever since and I can't wait to come back!!

What an amazing restaurant!!! I came here to celebrate a baptism and first bday and it was the best venue!! The food is AMAZING!! I had a pasta with pink sauce and prosciutto. My husband had the churrasco which also came with pasta. Cooked to perfection. The staff was the nicest I've seen in a while. Great service. My little one got burned with the soup and was crying like crazy and the waiters all came outside to check up on him, brought him milk, put an oil remedy on him. They were soooo sweet. Honestly what a great experience. I will be coming back here and recommending to all my friends!!

This place caught our eye thanks to their incredible Miami Spice menu. I was incredibly shocked to see how beautiful this restaurant is on the inside. It is incredible well kept and the lighting gives it a very nice cozy vibe. We were quickly greeted by the host and sat at the table. The waiter came over right away and presented us with both their regular menu and the Miami Spice menu. Their regular menu is quite enticing. (We will definitely be back). They do place a bread basket on the table with an herb butter and a red sauce which was so yummy. I decided to go with the grilled sausage for appetizer. It is a delicious Argentinian sausage that comes with fries and a great chimichurri dipping sauce. For entrée I went with the churrasco steak and I was shocked to learn it also comes with your choice of 2 sides! I got white rice and maduros. OMG that steak was huge!!! But with that said, it was so juicy and delicious. Cooked to perfection! For dessert I had the nutella crepe which was a perfect sweet finish to the night. Highly recommend checking this place out! Hit it up for Miami Spice or even for Happy Hour! They have some great deals. Even the regular is quite affordable and the food is great! The waiters are also top notch. It was great to see them work as a team to help customers.

Love this place, it's a loca gem close to home. Love the eclectic art work and the comfort Spanish food. Amazing Spanish risotto as well. Hosted my wife's baby shower there and they were amazing! Highly recommend.

Parking is $5 valet. Restaurant is on the first floor. The ambiance is good and elegant, beautiful pieces of art displayed throughout the restaurant. My family enjoyed their meal. The only downside was that where we were sitting the A/C vent in the ceiling was dripping water on my mother. Not good.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Kendall. The menu is diverse and original. For appetizers we had: seared scallops, cooked to perfection and so flavorful; grilled octopus, fantastically tender; all the other appetizers were just as good. We had a variety of entrees, veal, fish, pastas and they were all absolutely delicious, but perhaps everybody's favorite dish was the Risotto di Masitas where they managed to get the flavors of a cuban dish and give it such an unbelievable dimension. As for dessert, we ordered flan de coco, the dulce de leche crepe, both excellent, but the king of them all was the chocolate fondue, it was out of this world!! The service is also worth mentioning, friendly and warm but not intrusive. I can't wait to go back! read more

We came to Cafe Catula for my mom's bday, looking forward to lunch as they were one of the restaurants listed on miami spice 2013. We ordered the corvina ceviche and ahi tuna tartare to start with but were dissapointed. Had to return the corvina. Tuna was ok. We followed with an order of chistorra and provoletta prosciutto to share between my boyfriend and I and that was just simply ok. The provoletta just tasted like simple melted cheese. My mom had the halibut, special of the day, it was good. A little too salty but the fish was fresh. My dad had the grouper. It was the best dish , very fresh too. Finally we ordered the peach creme brule, it was great and nice way to end a not so great meal. Ps. Nice touch, piano player live and he played happy bday and las mañanitas for my mom. Bad thing is we came for miami a spice and waiter never showed us the miami spice menu. read more

I am SOOO glad I found this place. Fine Art Gallery. Live Music. Full Bar. Great Service. And then.... the FOOD! Wow, the food!!! The dipping sauce and bread that first came out was good enough to get filled up with. My wife and I enjoyed sipping on Macallan 18 while having a nice conversation with the bar tender. He suggested the Mezzaluna Di Granchio (Half moon pasta filled with crab meat in a creamy lobster sauce topped with shrimp). If that is on the menu when you visit, do NOT miss the opportunity to have possibly the BEST ravioli in the world! Yes, it's THAT good! Their soup du jour is usually a cream of a root vegetable or similar. We had the delectable carrot and I look forward to the malanga, or maybe pumpkin. The Argentinian sausage was delicious. We also had the octopus, Pulpo a la Catula, which was grilled in EVOO, garlic, and paprika and I must say, it's the BEST you can get in Miami, if not South Florida! Perfection! Then there was dessert. Both the dark & white chocolate soufflé and the red wine poached pears were exquisite. All I have left to write is, I cannot WAIT to go back! Let me start out by summarizing my review of Café Catula in one word: "Delish!" We had a family dinner there on a Saturday night to celebrate my aunt's birthday. The ambiance was lively and pleasant with a live piano player and interesting art pieces all around. My husband and I had a hard time deciding what to order because we wanted to order one of everything on the menu. They have a great selection of fish/seafood, pasta and steak. We finally decided that he would order the Filet Catula and I would order the Filet of grouper w/crabmeat and lobster sauce and that we would both share. That idea almost worked out perfectly because both of our dishes were divine but neither of us wanted to share our food with the other! The Filet Catula is a Filet Mignon stuffed with goat cheese and roasted peppers. My husband absolutely loved it and did not leave a single bite on his plate Not only was the combination of the flavors on point but the filet was perfectly cooked. My grouper was fresh and it was probably the best crabmeat stuffing I've had. It was not too heavy and was full of crabmeat and not breadcrumbs or filler. None of the food was overly salted, which is a big issue I usually have with sauces. Both of our dishes came with a sweet potato mash and vegetables, which were a nice flavorful supporting cast to our main dishes. We will definitely be back to order the same 2 dishes all over again! read more

Visited the restaurant during the Miami Spice month. We ordered the risotto and pork, and the duck. Both were extremely good tasting along with their Cabernet wine. Had for the dessert the crepes and the filling was supreme. The servers were super attentive, and visited our table constantly to check and see that everything was in order. Shall return again soon. My crew of hungry but very fabulous foodie girls brought me here for my big 3-3. I've had take out before which I truly enjoyed but one cannot write a fair and accurate review when eating from a take out container. This place makes you forget you're in East Kendall with drunken panhandlers just feet away from your seat. It is dim, cozy, elegant (but not stuffy) and romantic - bring your lady here and you're probably going to get lucky. They have a live piano player which adds a nice touch to your dining/drinking experience. Service was top notch. We ordered pretty much everything on the appetizer menu. My favorites were the tuna tower, empanadas, and provoleta. This is a great place to come for an after work drink with your girls or a sexy dinner with your lover. Outside seating is available but I wouldnt want to overlook the panhandling on 87th ave as I sip on my merlot. read more

The service here SUCKED. :( Four people and we were there from 7:30 until about 9:30. Our water was only refiled ONCE and that was because we got up to flag down the bus boy to get us water. There were 3 people working and it seemed like the only waiter for the entire place was cool as a cucumber. The only person who was hustling was the busboy. At one point they picked up 2 appetizer plates and left the other 2 empty plates on the table for about 20 minutes before they brought out our entrees. After we received each round of food, the waiter never came by and we literally had to move our heads around like turtles to make eye contact with somebody for something as simple as a sharp knife. However, the food was great. I thought the menu was innovative, fairly priced, and large enough so I won't get bored going back here. I really really wish they'd work on their service!! Is it because 4 young(ish) women ate here alone and we didn't order wine? I wonder why the service was so bad. The place was obviously filled with 3-4 larger tables of regulars and it seemed like the waiter spent most of his time there giving away free samples of wine. read more

We walked into this place on a Saturday and it was packed. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't however they must have had a cancellation because they were able to accommodate our party of four rather quickly. I'll admit the service was a little slow however I'll let that slide since the food was so good. Everything from the appetizer to the entree and even the dessert were A++ in my book. Delicious all around, great service, and reasonable priced for quality of food. OYSTER Rockefeller was in a white sauce spinach that we ate until the last drop with bread. The duck was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just the right amount of sweet. The scallop risotto was also delicious as was the lobster catula. I did find the risotto that came with the lobster a little on the saltier side, but still good. The lobster was amazing & perfectly cooked. Will be back soon. read more

This place is a gem in the wall. I would have never guessed it would be on Sunset and 87th Avenue. The police have a great happy hour from 4 to 8 pm. And their dishes are a beautiful infusion. I absolutely love the pork chunks with risotto and pieces of sweet plantain based in to the dish. The drinks are regularly priced and I ordered a red malbec which was great the service is also great here. And I do eat and mingle the artwork is very entertaining. Definitely coming back to this place more often read more

Prior to the pandemic, I visited Cafe Catula often. Today was my first time eating at the restaurant, although we have ordered meals by phone. The place is nicely decorated and the service has always been great for which they get five stars. But I have to give them five stars for their menu, their Chefs' excellent dishes, and food presentation--gourmet meals that invite you to come back. And, yes, I shall return time and again. read more

Lovely atmosphere, but the food was fair and the service was poor. We started with escargot, they were okay but I would not order them again. We also had mussels, usually a favorite of ours, but not these. The dinners were okay, but all heavy on the lemon flavor. read more

The place was overpriced. The quality of food is not up to par for what they are charging. The bill was $65 for two meals and a dessert with no appetizers or alcoholic beverages. Nothing tasted "bad", but nothing was memorable either. read more

When my mom checked her fish, part of it was also undercooked. I let the waitress know, and she offered to replace the chicken wings. When I pointed out my mom's fish, she said she would need to call the manager since most of it had already been eaten. I understand that part, but the situation as a whole was concerning. Food poisoning is no joke--it comes with diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, and even fever. Thankfully my mom didn't get sick, but I did. Please make sure food--especially chicken--is fully cooked before serving. This is really important for your customers' health and safety.

A year ago, I had an unfortunate experience with sitting close to the bar and being proposed to be charged full price instead of the happy hour special prices, because the bar was completely full that was a year ago, so I am editing my review from my recent visit. The food as always was wonderful, and the service was great. I had my birthday party on August 7 there with 12 guests, and the food and experience was terrific. I cannot say enough of the jazz singer at the place. They redeemed themselves with this last visit, so I am giving them full 5 stars. Thank you! read more

This place is a hidden gem! I went with a friend who had recommended to try any of the specials. We were surprised to find live piano music and such a relaxed atmosphere when we went on Friday for lunch. I ordered the Risotto Caprese that had mozzarella, tomato and scallops. Absolutely scrumptious! The dish came with a soup r salad so I ordered the coup of the day - corn chowder. So good! Today I was balancing my credit card statement and noticed that when we paid our bill on 4/10/22 there was an automatic Gratuity charge added to the bill and then a space on the receipt to add an Additional tip. The receipt shows party of "6" guests when it was 3 adults and 2 children. We added an additional $35 (18%) so we paid $65.96 on a bill of $172.00. The place is dark and it's hard to see what you're signing. Not satisfied at all with this overcharge and won't be patronizing this restaurant despite loving the food and being a frequent patron. read more

I usually use Yelp to see what others have to say about places but I felt compelled to write one for this place. The service was top notch and food was delicious. My wife and I sahred a Beef Carpaccio and a Corvina Ceviche for appetizers that were amazing. For dinner I had the very popular Mezzaluna Di Granchio and my wife had a Grilled Veal Chop. We were very pleased with the service and the presentation of the plates was impressive. There was also piano bar going on with great live music. Definitely a place to enjoy regularly.
