Breakfast was a little less than diner quality. Decently priced, but you get what you pay for. Western Omelette was less than average in taste. No seasoning or salt. Toast was not "toasted" and seems just warmed. No brown marks whatsoever! My wife said the waffles were not good at all. What the heck is "Reliance Syrup"??

The place was busy, but that didn't delay our orders. We could hold a conversation without having to speak loudly. We bought some dark roast beans, ground there for espresso, to take home.

The restaurant has a great two-level layout: a bustling coffee bar and small Italian market on the lower level, and a wine bar restaurant upstairs. It was a beautiful day, so outdoor seating was available, but after the hostess explained that the full menu is served on both levels, we opted to sit upstairs in the wine bar. Our server was fantastic--friendly, immediate, and quick to offer sparkling or tap water while handing us all the options. They offer a main lunch menu, a specials menu, and a great lunchtime deal with a limited $20 per person fixed menu. We started by sharing the mussels in a white garlic sauce. They were delicious, and the table bread dipped into the leftover garlic juices was absolutely delightful! For our main courses, my daughter got the spaghetti carbonara, and I ordered the chitarra pasta with red chili. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente and came in very satisfying portion sizes. My daughter's carbonara was even served with a savory bacon-flavored gelato on top! My only minor critique of my dish was that the pork was a bit fattier than I prefer and wasn't cooked as crisp as I'd like, but the flavor was still great. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we both got gelato. I had the amaretto and salted caramel, while my daughter went with dark chocolate and salted caramel. Both were insanely good--super creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Overall, the bill was surprisingly reasonable given how much quality food we enjoyed. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, but especially for that unbelievable gelato!

We had just finished dinner a bit earlier and I had been hounding for a milkshake for several weeks ever since the last one I had at a completely different place in Media that was absolutely wonderful. Luckily, we spotted Tasty Scoopz as a place close to home and headed directly there. The spot is on a highly trafficked corner on Baltimore Pike and is a pretty good location and has been there for a while at this point. They also have an interesting menu with several items that are not dessert items which actually gives you quite a bit of selection if you are not simply in the mood for ice cream. However, that was pretty much where the interesting stuff ended. The staff was nice and the service we received was good, but the ice cream and milkshake definitely did not live up to basic standards. First of all, and this is not a complaint but more just a strange observation, but all the windows have frosted film placed on them. Sliding service windows, the main glass, all of it. It's more weird than anything else, but you cannot tell if anyone is even there to provide you service or if they are even working on your order after they take it. Then the milkshake was less than lackluster. It was full of ice chunks, which is strange if it is indeed handmade ice cream and then blended by hand. The French vanilla I ordered had a very cardboard-like flavor. The gelati shake that was purchased had the same type of things going in, with flavors similar to very fake cherry with a chalk stick aftertaste. Despite the prices not being outrageous, the experience and quality of the product made it feel like the costs were far too high. There are a few things here that could easily be fixed, and some others that I simply didn't understand. Maybe in the future I will give Tasty Scoopz another try, but not during this already brutally hot summer.
