Had lunch here with a friend and everything was amazing. We had reservations and were seated right away. It was a beautiful atmosphere being surrounded by all of the lush greenery and vibrant flowers. The small pond with fish and a mini waterfall was relaxing. I was so looking forward to dining at the Cafe. We were promptly seated and then forgotten about. We waited for over 20 minutes and still no acknowledgment. People seated after is were waited on in a timely manner. I told the hostess the situation. We waited another 10 minutes and still no waiter. We left and on the way out to the hostess. No effort to rectify the situation. I highly recommend better training for the staff. read more

My friend knows me so well. When in town wanting to catch up while on a work trip, I asked her to pick a place for lunch. Low and behold, I enter an oasis of a nursery in the Permian Desert heat. It's a gorgeous, expansive nursery with all the foliage types you would expect and even some you wouldn't. In the middle of the gardens is a cafe! The menu was small but quaint. I ordered the chile relleno. It was a different take on the traditional chile rellenos I watched my mom make from scratch. The portion on the plate was a bit small but they made up for it with a sizeable refillable ice tea. The service was also very quick and polite. When in town I will definately meet up here, the plant lover that I am, it has the best scenery I could wish for. read more

One of my favorite places to go and eat. I love that you get the feelings of eating outdoors without all the bugs that go with it. Be sure and check out the online menu as it shows more than the paper menu. As always the atmosphere is nice however the food was the worst. I have been going here for years and had not been in several months. WOW what a change. The food appears to be pre-fab, not made in house. Items that should be warm/ hot were cold and items that should be cold were warm. The guacamole was old and had turned color. A restaurant should never serve it that way. The queso tasted as if it had flour added for thickening. I had a salad and the greens were not fresh. It was supposed to be a chef salad and it was the barest one I have ever had. Not sure what is going on but for now or until things change I will not be dining there. read more

The cafe at the gardens has a great atmosphere and unique environment. If you want a nice place to visit, while enjoying the outdoors this is where you want to go. I recommend going for dessert, the food can be hit or miss. I went on a busy Monday afternoon, so I won't hold the quality of food against them too hard. I just really wish my loaded baked potato soup was more creamy. I felt the potato and bacon chunks were a little more overwhelming than I am used to. read more

This place is great. Stopped here with my friend for lunch after she picked me up at the airport for a weekend in Midland. I love that this little place is located inside the nursery and you are surrounded by fresh green plants and flowers and a fountain with goldfish swimming. It's very relaxing. I ordered a sandwich and got the sweet potato fries which my friend insisted I try. She was right those fries are amazing. My sandwich was very good too though I can't remember the name of it. It came with avocado, bean sprouts, bacon and maybe turkey. I ordered it on a fresh warm croissant and it was DELICIOUS. I just went there for a co-workers bday lunch. We ordered our food in advance for our group the day before, so when we got there we just had to order drinks. We arrived at 1130am and finished eating at noon. It was quick service for our big group. The food was all correct, but my sweet potatoe fries were a little soggy, but I didnt mind it. It was still good. The Panini was pretty hearty and will fill you up. The price for the items are a little high for my taste, but overall everything was decent. Its a little out there away from everything so I dont know if I would go back, but its a nice place to have a lunch. They also have a gift shop after you eat you can check that out as well. Don't order the crepes!! They used to be wonderful but not today. I was hungry and tried to make myself eat them but they were bad. This plate was their second attempt. I have loved everything that I have ordered at the Garden over the years, but was extremely disappointed today. When I went to order my fave, the lettuce wraps, was told they didn't have them today because of peanut sauce or something. So I decided to go with the wedge. What a huge disappointment!!! It was half a head of lettuce with Ranch dressing (on a wedge? who does that?). What was left some bacon...THAT WAS IT! No blue cheese crumbles, no anything. We love visiting the green house and cafe at Alldredge Gardens. Food is a little pricey, but that's everywhere in Midland. Staff is always friendly, even when there are long lines waiting to be seated. The dining area is wonderful. read more

I'm conflicted about Cafe at the Gardens. Allow me to paint you, dear review reader, a picture: Midland is hot (as in super make your contacts pop off of your eyes hot), dry (you're still thirsty after several bottles of water and you know you're sweating yet it dries so fast it's as if you aren't) and a bit... bleak. The heat and lack of humidity make vegetation hard to come by, and there is a general deficit of places to hang out. So, when I arrived in Midland to visit a dear friend, his parents took us to Cafe at the Gardens for lunch. They go there somewhat frequently because - and this is the major selling point - it is LITERALLY an oasis in the desert. Located in a greenhouse filled to the roof with flowers, fountains, trees and an endless sea of other green plantlife, it is paradise found. I could breathe, my eyes stopped hurting, it was glorious. But then, there was the service. Midland is in the middle of a boom (economically speaking - it THE place to live if you're in the oil business in Texas), and, thus, cannot find enough people to work. (So it is the opposite of most of America right now- need a job? Move to Midland, stat!) Pretty much everyone wants an oil-based job because the pay is insane, so those left to the "lesser" jobs like waiting tables, working at a gas station, etc are both highly paid ($14/hour+ !?!) and lazy. This terrible service plagues Midland establishments and prevents newer, better ones from opening. Staffing just isn't easy. So, our service at this particular place was horrible. My friend's dad bussed a table so we could sit (after standing around for a while), the waitresses were surly, preoccupied, and did not get our orders quite right. Most importantly, I am allergic to gluten and they served me a cheeseburger on a bun, which I explictly asked NOT to have and said "I AM ALLERGIC TO WHEAT"! But, the food was good (not the best, but not bad either), and the atmosphere was transcendent. This, to me, equals out to around a 3-star lunch spot... 5 star atmosphere, 3 star food, 2 star (or 1?) service... Would I go back? If in Midland, why yes I would. My skin would thank me for the moisture. read more

In a town overrun by food chains, Alldredge gardens is a nice change of atmosphere! Alldredge gardens is different (in a good way) from any other place I've been to and is a gem for the Midland area. We decided to have my best friend's engagement celebration lunch here, after this place was recommended by a friend. I had never heard of it and was intrigued when I heard it was a basically a cafe inside a botanical store in the outskirts of midland. Walking in, you'll immediately see the wide assortment of flowers and foliage. There was plenty of seating in the open cafe area when we arrived at 11 on a Saturday and the cafe seemed to fill up as time went by. Having made a reservation, our table was ready upon arrival and our waitress was super great and helpful throughout our lunch. The menu offered a wide selection of café food options and I was glad that they also offered alcoholic drinks. I went for the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of the creamy chicken poblano soup and of course, mimosas. While the mimosas weren't as strong as I would've liked, they were still pretty good. The buffalo chicken sauce on the sandwich was delicious and full of flavor and the chicken poblano soup was as good as our waitress told me it was - do kudos to her for her suggestions! Overall, this place was fantastic and exceeded my expectations - I will definitely be returning next time I'm in Midland. read more

I've been here a few times, and my experiences have been good overall. They have really great sandwiches. I've had the French drip and a club, both were good. I've also had the pepper stuffed with chicken salad, topped with cheese and baked--it was SO good. They also have decent sangria here. I also love the atmosphere--it's in an actual garden. This is such a nice little lunch place that I like to take out of town visitors too. When you go in with kids the hostess almost always seats you near the koi pond, which is fun. They have a good verity of burgers, sandwiches and salads. The sweet potato fries are very good. I will say it does take a while to get food, I wouldn't say this is a quick dining place. read more
