Very nice sitting room for enjoying coffee. I got here very early on Saturday so nobody here.

This is a cool, unique and local coffee shop with a huge, comfortable back room full of chairs and space. They serve Fidalgo coffee which I'd never tried but is from Burlington, WA... 72 miles away. My espresso had a nice crema and a wonderful aroma! Heck, Aroma is the name of this place so I had high hopes! Upon taking my first sip, the word that came to mind was "smooth"! The second word for this medium dark coffee was "delicious"! This was the first of four double espressos at four different places on Saturday morning! Hey... when near Seattle, coffee is a must! As for the breakfast sandwich I ordered, it was supposed to be on a croissant but I was highly not impressed. I think it was microwaved and the croissant was not the slightest bit flaky. Not recommended. Life is good with a smooth aromatic espresso!

How I heard of this place: A new friend wanted to meet up for coffee and a (long) catch-up. She found and recommended this spot, which we had the pleasure of trying this morning. Type of cuisine: A cafe with espresso beverages (and ones without caffeine), a small selection of sweet pastries, and a handful of breakfast sandwiches. Ambiance: Outside, a small parking lot is viewable from several tables and chairs set up for outdoor visits. We were pleasantly surprised to see chairs for little ones (children), too! Inside the front door, one may think that orders are only available for take-away (or outdoor seating). The space is mostly taken up by a large bar area for the barista to work, one small table and barquette (that's currently filled with decorations and trinkets). But through a glass-paned door to the back, one enters a large living room. Expansive, and with armchairs, couches, coffee tables, even tables and chairs for working can be found. The space is warm, a bit eclectic with too many varied forms of cheesy art and decor, but it's not as distracting as might be expected. It's still a very cozy living room space that's been created for this third place in life. What I ordered: The ominous morning fog, drizzling and misting rain, and greyness leant itself to welcoming the winter Peppermint Mocha (12oz $4.55, plus flavor for $0.85) and a microwaved, square shaped breakfast croissant with Canadian bacon, egg and cheese (about $7). What I loved: The sandwich was warm and flavorful, but when not eaten quickly enough, the edges so crusty and hard, it couldn't be bit through and had to be broken off (discarded). The peppermint mocha, though, was perfectly prepared. It was the best I've had in years. Thank you vegetarian barista! Why I loved it: Cafe Aroma is a very cozy, easy space to spend your morning. Whether you're working, catching up with friends, or spending a lazy afternoon with family in a living room setting (that's not at home), it's wonderful! And the peppermint mocha. Must go back for it again soon. Cost: Average to high (espresso beverage prices are similar to most cafes, but the sandwich seemed overpriced for quality and preparation).

Showing off all the pastry options. Even have granola.

Love coming here for their drinks, ambience and cheerful baristas. As you walk in, there is a nostalgic feel to the place. Nicely decorated, with plants outside. Nice outside patio. Big quiet adjacent room to the right. As a grandmother, they offer the bonus of a child's play area. Tired parents can have their child distracted in the area and have time to relax. They even have a drive through, if you are in a hurry. The baristas here are welcoming. I have been happily greeted right when they opened to fuel up for a long day. I have tried many hot and cold drinks here. They have such a wide variety of drinks even a nice variety of uncaffinated one. The chai here is spicy and not too sweet. I long for the blended iced mocha, that keeps me awake for at least 12 hours. They put effort into making drinks carefully. They have breakfast and bagel sandwiches, which are alright. Most of the time I have come in here, is getting ready for a 12 hour workday. I'm sleepy and slightly grumpy. I always feel better after visiting. The happy greeting, the calm atmosphere and great drinks. A secret vice of mine is I like to read when drinking coffee. They have a stash of books I was delighted to find.

Café Aroma is a great local coffee shop. I met a friend for coffee, and was thoroughly impressed with the atmosphere at Café Aroma. They have a very broad and affordable coffee menu, much cheaper than Starbucks and the larger establishments. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have a very large seating area, that you can find a spot to quietly chat, read a book or work on a project. The coffee selection was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience.

Before our morning hike, we stopped at Cafe Aroma for some much needed caffeine sustenance. The pastry display case was too tempting to pass up - I ended up picking up an almond pastry because aesthetic. It was pleasing to the eye but also to the palate. It was flaky and crispy and fragrant. The iced latte was standard and while it wasn't anything too special, it was much needed juice to get the day going. Seating seemed limited near the coffee bar, but looks like there was a separate room, too. Since the table by the counter was available, we didn't venture back there. Overall, Cafe Aroma is a great spot to grab a pastry and a coffee, whether you're on the go or just chillin'.

Much bigger space than I thought!

They have a wide range of banh mi fillings, from the classics to some harder to find options like roast pork, so there's something for everyone. My personal favorite is the crispy roast pork banh mi. The pork has that perfect crackly skin with juicy, flavorful meat underneath. Paired with the pickled veggies, fresh cilantro, and a light spread of mayo on a crusty baguette, it hits all the right textures and flavors. I also love the special banh mi with all the different meats. It's basically the greatest hits lineup with savory cold cuts, pâté, and other cured meats layered together for a rich, satisfying bite every time. It's hearty without being overwhelming, and the balance of fresh and savory components is spot on. And don't skip the drinks. The egg coffee was surprisingly excellent. The Vietnamese coffee base had a deep, bold flavor with that classic slightly bitter edge, and the creamy whipped egg topping added a smooth, lightly sweet contrast. It felt indulgent but still very coffee forward. Overall, this is a great banh mi spot for me with the great variety, tasty sandwiches, and a standout egg coffee to round it all out. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for a quality banh mi.

The pride flag I ordered is an 8 x 10 sign, has all the colors, and says in bold print EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE. On 11/17 I returned to the coffee shop. I had to wait a few minutes to speak with the manager. As we began to chat, another person suddenly joined her and took over the conversation, as I explained I'd been there last Wednesday and the agreement we had. He went on to tell me they are NEUTRAL and do not want to "offend" anyone. When I told them a sign like this should not be considered offensive, and if it were offensive to someone, maybe they didn't want that customer anyway. I said I have grandchildren who are both gay and mixed race and it's important for them to feel safe in certain environments. I told them about how my lesbian college-age granddaughter had to walk nearly a mile to find a coffee shop last summer where she felt comfortable. (She doesn't patronize Starbucks. She walked to Diva on 145th.) They felt that was too bad for her. But ... they were very adamant in their NEUTRAL position. I tried explaining how important these signs are to the LGBTQ community. They did repeat several times that they were NEUTRAL. I left the signs with them and drive by often to check and see if they're in the windows. They are not. Either perhaps in the garbage or on a shelf in some back room. The last thing we want to do in the environment we're currently living in is to remain neutral. We need to reach our hands across. In a "Christian" environment, I would expect nothing less.

On a Monday afternoon, there wasn't even much vehicle traffic on the road outside, but the locals were out in force--couples, groups, everybody cheerful. All ages. There are maybe 20 seats in here, with that many more outside. First thing you see when you walk in is the little farmer's-market type merch display that some local independent coffee shops often seem to have. Stickers, mugs, hats. I am anti-clutter overall, but still a sucker for stickers and mugs, and almost bought some stuff here. The kids behind the counter are super nice, super upbeat without being overcaffeinated. Very warm and genuine. My sister and I took our time puzzling through exactly what we wanted and the dude was smiling the whole time, got the order down perfectly. Couple minutes later it was ready. The drip coffee was fantastic, really hit the spot for my sis. It was late in the day so I got a heavily modified cup of tea (bergamot with lavender, something else, and almond milk). I've never had tea any way but black, ever, and this was delicious. I've never had tea with a cute name, either--"Edmonds Fog"--but that just made it easier to order. We were out the door with that and a really tasty jam biscuit for under $15. When I have time to park and go in to order, this place will be tough to beat for sure.

This walnut street coffee shop is like a bad blind date! I visited a few years ago, thinking I was…read morein the charming Edmonds area, and decided to try their supposedly famous coffee selections. I ordered my usual Mocha Breve, and the coffee was surprisingly good - great flavor and just the right temperature. But let's chat about the service... As some reviews suggested, the service was a major letdown! The front servers seemed more annoyed than a cat in a bath. I asked for a bagel on the side, and both servers were less than thrilled to help me or even mention that I had to toast it myself! Apparently, there's a DIY toasting station for your pastries. The kicker? I ended up tipping 15% even though I did pretty much all the work - toasting the bagel and spreading the cream cheese. Which btw the bread even toasted is hard as a rock! It's a local joint, and the lady next to me clearly a local , was practically tapping her foot, trying to rush me as I waited for the cashier to make sure she's ready to take my order. Would I recommend this place? You might have a different experience so go. Am I gonna do a drive to comeback probably not. Don't believe the hype.
