Ube Monster Ube Monster Milkshake
Gabriel B.

Filipino dessert spot with heavy focus on ube flavors. Their ube monster milkshake is more on the slushier side than an actual milkshake, but you can still taste the flavor. I recommend the ube truffles for something truly unique, and for those with a sweet tooth get the ube crack cheesecake! Plenty of seating indoors, but can get filled during peak hours.

First time at Cafe 86 in Carson on 2/14/26. We have been at the Cerritos location and loved it so we were so happy to see there's one closer to us. We were greeted warmly as we entered in. The staff was friendly and provided great hospitality. The restaurant was cool, lots of deco on the wall that keeps you entertained. We ordered the upside down halo halo and ube monster. Everything tasted delicious! For Valentine's, they gave us a free ube velvet in a really cute heart tin. They're located in Carson in a plaza with plenty of parking. Definitely worth the visit if you love ube or Filipino dessert. Highly recommend!

The Upside Down Halo Halo is GENIUS! I think this is my favorite halo-halo of all time. I love that they added cornflakes and substituted the usual beans for tapioca pearls. My mistake was ordering the "mini" when I should have ordered the regular. The ube crumble cookies and flan ina cupcake were made to perfection as well! This is a place I would definitely have to bring my Filipino parents to!

This is a late review. It's been few months since the last time I came here. I like the Upside Down Halo-Halo better than regular one they have(the one with corn flakes as one of the toppings). The service was nice.

This Halo Halo right here is a taste of home. It does remind me of an afternoon meryenda when we were kids with my lola.

We stopped here for dessert after a long day of sightseeing in LA. Located in Carson, this is a small shop that specializes in boba drinks and pastries. There are lots of ube items if that's what you're into. My favorite item here is the Turon pop tart. You can get it warmed, and once you tuck into the pastry it's a hot, comforting flaky bite. The filling isn't too sweet and it's enough to share if you want a small bite of something. The service is really friendly and there are a few tables inside if you want to eat in. There's plenty of parking too.

Café 86 is such a sweet spot for desserts and late-night cravings. Everything looks amazing, but the must-try is the Upside Down Halo-Halo so good and so unique. Creamy, crunchy, sweet, and refreshing all in one cup.

Cafe 86 just opened in Carson and it's already my new go-to dessert spot! The menu is full of unique ube and Filipino-inspired treats, and everything I tried was delicious. We ordered: * Mais con yelo - sweet, refreshing, and perfect for summer. Very nostalgic. * Upside Down Halo Halo - MY personal favorite. I love the chewiness of the boba, jackfruit, and nata de coco especially!! * Ube Monster - their iconic drink and definitely a must-try if you love ube and Oreos. * Strawberry Calamansi Cooler - tart, sweet, and so refreshing! * Jasmine Grapefruit Iced Tea - light and floral with the perfect balance. Really liked this one! * Ube Cheesecake - creamy and rich without being too heavy. Love the crumbs on top. * Ube Flan Cupcake - soft, moist, and packed with ube flavor. The flan wasn't too sweet! * Churrochi with ube ice cream - such a fun dessert! The churro and mochi combo was warm and chewy, paired perfectly with the creamy ube ice cream. Sooooo tasty! The staff was very friendly & helpful, the space is bright and welcoming, and it's such a great addition to Carson. They also have self-serving kiosks for you to order if you're in a rush or the staff is busy helping another customer. Super convenient! Whether you're an ube lover or just looking for unique desserts, you'll want to add Cafe 86 to your list. I'll definitely be back to try more!

I love the fact that there is a Cafe 86 less than half a mile from my Suegra's house. It is so convenient!! They have all the same offerings as the one I've been too in Rancho Cucamonga. It is a lot smaller here. As well as a lot less seating area. This time around though we ordered so much more! We of course had to order their upside-down halo halo. And it was phenomenal. FYI adding a little bit of whiskey (bourbon- at home) elevated it. We also had to get their ube crinkle, ube with flan cupcake, halo halo bread pudding as well as a couple other things. The halo halo bread pudding is good. You can warm it up at home (35-40 seconds) and they give you a separate cup of ube ice cream. The cold and the hot contrasted amazingly. With the bits of coconut and halo halo bits in it really changes up the texture of each bite. You definitely taste the ube. Its moist. And just amazing Everything we ordered from here was exceptional. Im glad there's one so close to my second home. Its definitely super convenient. And I will definitely be by some more times when Im in the Carson area!!

Came here for our halo-halo cravings. Quick service, large portion, and chill ambiance. Photo for portion reference.

You walk in, and you'll be greeted by trendy, upbeat music. There are lights in mason jars hanging from the ceiling that give the place a rustic feel. Even the display cases for their pasties were cutely decorated with fun drawings. The upside down halo halo was really good but pricey for a "mini" for $9.95. The Cali mango slush was a huge disappointment because not only did it not taste like Mango, the taste wasn't good at all. We threw out 80% of it and took home the boba to rinse it out so we could at least eat it since the boba was chewy and sweet. The service was average, but I did appreciate being asked to sign up for the loyalty program.

Fresh pastries that are sooooooo mouth watering & make sure to get them toasted !

I absolutely love this cafe ! I usually get their Ube matcha latte which I absolutely love & pair it with an ube pop tart ! Perfection ! All the ladies that work here are so lovely & nice they informed me about my points ! The store has inside & outside seating creates a cute calm vibe

Way less busy than the Cerritos location. Always a sweet treat staple. My go-to is the upside halo halo and the ube butter bar.

So good. I love the ube cheesecake. My daughter went with her friends so I told her to pick me up a dessert. She picked a good one.

I came by recently with some friends after dance class and we were all impressed. I tried the Biscoff Matcha Latte and it was fantastic. You can tell they use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha. I'm looking forward to trying their other matcha options next time! Also need to try their desserts.

The first time I tried this place, it was kinda busy, very stuffy inside, unsure if the AC works or not. Service was quick. Coffee was not anything memorable. I just remember whatever I had ordered tasted exactly the same as the chrome studio signature latte. It was the muscovado latte. Which.... I did not like. This second time was also very stuffy inside. Like, I am really unsure if they pay for AC inside or not. This second time that I had visited was more recent where I had ordered the Hawaiian Paradise tea with golden honey boba. I actually really did enjoy this refresher iced tea. It was not half bad and included a slice of orange inside. The honey boba was very soft and easy to chew. I enjoyed how refreshing it was as it was what I was craving. I also had ordered a banana pudding latte that was horrid. Foam was amazing. The actual coffee was so bad. Like, actually. I threw it away. I did not bother to even ask for a remake. It tasted so burnt. Like the most burnt coffee bean taste ever. I do not know what happened there, but it was a very big disappointment. Ordered 2 churros, they were good. Nothing crazy, just something that helped curve the horrible taste from the burnt coffee. You don't interact with the workers, so service I can not comment on. They have a restroom. Parking is in the plaza in front, which is shared with a few other businesses, the major one being Ralph's. You can order on a large screen and tap to pay on it as well. Sad to say, but I really do not see myself coming back as Torrance has plenty of other coffee shops to go to instead.

The black sesame bingsoo was my favorite - the ice was super fine and snow-like, light and easy to enjoy. It leaned a bit sweeter than other bingsoo spots I've tried, but was still very good. The second bingsoo was a more classic snow bowl with red bean and mochi on top, simple but enjoyable. The space felt clean and traditional, with good service. Decor: cute decor with books on the side and a few tables inside. Service: efficient and speedy. Menu/food: I really like their bingsoo a lot, but what I really love is their boong-uh-ppang (taiyaki). I also love their red bean, which is not too sweet but rich and flavorful. They advertise that the red bean is imported from Korea, and it really is better than most other places. When the taiyaki comes out piping hot with crispy exterior and chewy inside with red bean, it's sooo good. I like their custard filling too. Probably best taiyaki I've had anywhere in southern Cal. I had stopped coming here for a while and when we came back, we noticed that the menu expanded a bit, and now they have some fruit based bingsoo. Recommend trying once. Their rice cakes are good too, very chewy and fresh.

When scanning the shops for a caffeination boost, I couldn't stop thinking about the "Over Caffeinated Cold Brew Float" I saw advertised at Moom Maam. So intriguing! I circled back and ordered the indulgent morning treat, slightly skeptical of such a mix. I'm happy to report though that yes, it was a monstrosity to have first thing in the morning but I'd do it again in a second. You get to pick what flavor gelato is in the coffee and I went with chocolate to which they replied, great choice! I agree, it was such a good mix with the cold coffee brew. It tastes so good and creamy, full of flavor and just overall some of the best Gelato in the South Bay. So lucky to have a location so close to home. Before I forget the coconut rice waffle is the best thing ever!!! It honestly ruined regular waffle cones for me because now I always compare it to the Moom Maam cone. One thing was immediately clear: everyone was ordering the snowstorm. Most people seemed to go with either the matcha or the original, though they also had other flavors like sesame. Naturally we followed the crowd and ordered the matcha. It's matcha soft serve topped with chestnuts, and it turned out to be a great little pre-dinner snack -- creamy, earthy, and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was that they carry different types of chestnuts. I preferred the smaller ones, which were softer, more moist, and sweeter. The larger ones were firmer, but you can buy them already peeled, which honestly feels like a luxury if you've ever battled chestnut shells before. It's a quirky specialty shop, but a fun one to browse. And judging by the number of snowstorms coming out of the kitchen, that's clearly the move here.
