Ube matcha, ube butterbar, and ube truffle cookies

If you want a place that does Ube justice, this is the place you want to try. I've tried tons of places that sell ube treats and none of them come close to this. I highly recommend their ube butter bars that replicates the ube in the Philippines. Highly recommend this place if you want real ube!

After picking peaches, we were hot and looking for something refreshing. My friend had a craving for halo halo and I checked Yelp and determined that there was a Café 86 nearby. Having been to their location in Union City, we had enjoyed their halo halo. The inside of this location was cozy with a sofa and chair seating section and tables bar tables along the windows. The display case of desserts looked delish, but we were here for the halo halo. They had an Upside Down Halo Halo, but we went with the traditional one. It had jackfruit, red and green gulaman, macapuno, boba, and other items, and topped with a piece of leche flan, corn flakes and a scoop of ube ice cream. I liked how they make it creamy with a coffee flavor instead of the usual shaved ice and condensed milk. You have to eat some of the topping before you can mix it up to be milk shake like. My friend, who ordered first, got her's with vanilla ice cream on top. The worker noticed it and apologized and gave her a scoop of ube ice cream on the side. Having had halo halo from different places in the Bay Area, I think Café 86 makes a pretty darn good one. I remember they use to offer one size at $8, but not it's $11 for a regular and $10 for a mini. For a $1 more, of course, I went with the regular. For a tasty halo halo, check out Café 86.

It's always nice and cool inside, making it the perfect spot to cool down on a hot day. The space has a counter with high chairs by the window, about six tables (four seats each), a lounge area with a couch, plus a foosball table and claw machine for some extra fun. Restrooms are conveniently located on the side. Love how the menu is on huge TVs so you don't have to squint at small menu papers / they also offer QR code. 10/10 friendly and nice customer service. We went by closing time yesterday and never felt rushed out at all. My daughter is obsessed with the truffles--she orders four every time! They even have a deal for four truffles and a calamansi juice for around $21, which was kindly offered to us (though she declined). I appreciate that they share those deals since we wouldn't have known otherwise. We've been here several times and have tried the Thai Tea Shake, Upside Down Halo Halo, and Ube Cheesecake Bar. My personal favorite is the Upside Down Halo Halo--it's made with real ube ice cream blended into a creamy milkshake texture, with toppings at the bottom, vanilla ice cream on top, and even a bite-sized leche flan. It does get busy, which speaks to how good the food, drinks, and service are. This has become one of our go-to dessert spots, especially when my parents are visiting and craving a sweet treat. The convenient location with plenty of parking, plus the option for easy online ordering, makes it even better.

It's an ube (purple yam) specialty store, how can one go wrong? They have ube-leche flan (custard) cupcake which is an ube cupcake topped with creamy flan. There's also the ube truffle which is a ball of goodness. I don't particularly like cheesecakes because of its consistency and how dense some of them are. But the ube cheesecake they have is light. If you're a sweet tooth, you should try this one!

For all ube indigence, Cafe 86 is absolutely the place to be. I am glad that we finally have one here right close to home. No more travelling to Union City, Chino Hills and even Las Vegas for that matter. Ube Crack Cheese is where its at for me, decadent, rich, delicious. My daughter on the other hand loves their Ube Leche Flan. Do do not forget their Ube Truffles also. Pretty much everything is yummy at Cafe 86. I also like that they themed their store around the venerable AE86 Trueno, I swear one time I will roll into the store with my own 86. True that the prices at Cafe 86 can be a little steep. But indulging on their wonderful ube pastries once in a while is a money very well spent.

So awesome to have a Cafe 86 here in Antioch! I love the merge of new Asian/Pacific Island restaurants opening here in the area. First Jollibee and now Cafe 86! This location is pretty big with a good amount of lounge seating. They have every item stocked and the two employees work quick and efficient. I ordered a halo-halo and it got made within minutes and it also came out perfect! I can't wait to come back and try more. The addition of a Filipino bakery/tea house is exactly what we needed in the city. It provides more flavor and options for everyone.

Upside Down Halo Halo - loved the ube milk used as the base of this dessert, and the ube ice cream was nice too. The jelly wasn't mind blowing and neither was the jackfruit slices, which were so few and little. It could use a bit more toppings. Other than that, it was pretty good. $10. Ube Crack Cheesecake - flavor was good, the ube flavor came through and the cream cheese flavor also came through. The bottom crust was a bit too thick in my opinion but also had a good flavor. But man, the size was super tiny for $5. Therefore I don't think it was a good value. Ube Butter Bar - I had high hopes but the butter bar we got, while the overall flavor was pretty good, tasted like it'd been in a fridge for a long time. It didn't taste fresh at all. I was super disappointed. Not worth $5.

Ube paradise. The up-side-down halo halo is a must-try. It is highly recommended to visit this place. The hype is definitely worth it. The service was top-notch. The staff was fast and very knowledgeable about the menu. If you want to hang out with friends or go on a date, this is a great place to go. Show your support for your local businesses. Their Ube pop tarts are a must-try. I will definitely come back to try other menu items.

I've always heard raves about Cafe 86's halo halo from co-workers and I'm glad that they finally opened up a spot in Antioch. Their upside down halo-halo is so refreshing especially during the scorching heat of our summers. I love their shaved ice and the cereals adds more crunch to it, I do hope that they offer the option of adding the traditional sweet mung beans. We have mostly tried their pastries on different occassions: from ube leche flan cupcakes, ube bars, ube tres leches, ube cheesecake and my new favorite, the ube truffles. They are rich and so yummy! The only setback is the price, as we volunteered to bring their desserts to a potluck of close to 40 people and shelled out a whooping $190 for them. Was it worth the blood sugar spike? Definitely yes! But we'll just be more careful to bring it for a smaller group next time. Other than that, the place is clean, the staff are friendly and there's always ample parking.

If you love Ube, this place will make your dreams come true! I've had Cafe 86 in San Jose and I am excited to have one in this area. The location is inside a plaza and there is plenty of parking. The decor is fun, trendy and very clean! The staff if very nice and friendly. I finally came to this location; it was just as good as I remembered! The Upside Down Halo Halo is my go-to drink! One regular is big enough to share with one more person. It comes with an Ube base blend, Coconut Jellies, Jack Fruit, Boba, Frosted Flakes, Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Flan. It is the perfect mix!!!! It is also not too sweet and very refreshing! They also have many other Ube desserts! Next time I'll probably share the upside-down halo halo to try other desserts. Give this place a try! You won't regret it.

I came to Cafe 86 and ordered an Iced Ube latte with oat milk. It has no caffeine and was really yummy. I also got a caramel latte and an ube flan cup cake that did not disappoint. They have little board games and activities to entertain yourself with. Very comfy vibes! read more

I came to the grand opening on 4/6 to support this locally owned Filipino cafe that's also car related! They have a plethora of baked ube goods, and other drink items for those who aren't a fan of ube. I tried their mini Halo Halo and it looked and tasted amazing. The staff is super sweet and quick; I would definitely recommend this cafe for dessert or a quick snack! read more

I find their Halo Halo drink was not the traditional Pinoy filled with banana, sweet beans, kaong, and lots of gulaman jellies in milk/sugar base. Their menu is really Ube overload. I only have a few options that's not Ube. I opted for the Halo Halo without the Ube base shaved ice. After a few taste of it, I think it was pricey for just bits of corn flakes, jellies, bobas, a square piece of leche flan and a scoop of ube ice cream on top. The shaved ice based tasted like coffee or mocha? The combination of these said mixtures tasted weird for me. This place has too much "Ube" in its pastries, drinks etc. Perhaps try to serve other Pinoy kakanin varieties. Other than that, the place is just ok. read more

Located in a shopping center right off the freeway with a lot of parking (electric parking close by also). Came in on a Wednesday evening while it was warm out and it was super busy. There were a couple tables, a couch/lounge area and some bar seating. Workers were very kind and service was quick. Upside down halo-halo, various jellies and boba at the bottom. Vanilla ice cream, flan and cornflakes on top. Middle was blended ube. Really refreshing and would get again 10/10 Ube cheesecake - ube flavor in the cheesecake was perfect, not overbearing or too much and not too sweet. The store is really cute and has a nice theme to it, very modern. However the music is very loud and I have to yell over the cashier taking my order. If you have a sweet tooth this place is for you! They mainly specialize in Ube flavored items and it taste authentic and real. It is a bit too sweet to my liking but it is really good. However I think the prices are pretty ridiculous and in my opinion over priced. read more

I was craving for something cold coz the afternoon has been warm and were out in about running errands.. we get to try this new place in town that we have heard of. Ordered their mais con hielo (corn with shaved ice) it did not disappoint. The servings of corn is very generous and the people are super friendly. Have been meaning to go here for some time and finally got the chance to today. I was surprised there was no one there as I thought this was a popular spot. Anyway, because of this service was quick. Friendly too which is great. I didn't want anything to drink so opted for baked goods. I tried the ube poptart and flan cupcake. The poptart was good; I'd get this again. The flan cupcake was underwhelming. It was literally a thick hard piece of flan on top of an be cupcake that tasted kind of like a red velvet cupcake. It's just not what I was thinking it would be. It tasted okay but didn't enjoy the experience and wouldn't order again. Overall I'm not sure I'd come back here but glad I tried it out. Seems like such a cool concept. read more

I'm so happy Cafe 86 opened a location in Antioch! We really need more Asian desserts around here. My first experience was at their Northridge spot in Southern California, where I had their Halo Halo. Their menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of sweet treats and drinks. We stopped by on a weekend evening and managed to arrive just before the rush. We ordered the Halo Halo, Upside Down Halo Halo, and Ube Brownie, and everything was fantastic. It was my first time my parents trying, and they enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

Our go to for any UBE FIX. The best hands down Halo Halo anyone could ever have and I am soooooo ecstatic it's here! You may want to make sure your electronic devices are fully charged before coming here because there is usually a line here but worth the wait. My favorite is the Turon Pop Tart. I came to this location last year of December and then I came back again today from SoCal and Allie and owner Robert were just so welcoming and sweet all their sweets and drinks are amazing . I was sharing with Allie how I love Ube and always get my matcha with Ube foam and she went out of her way to make me Ube foam even tho it wasn't on the menu . Me and my daughters dropped by last Friday wanting something sweet after having an early dinner next door but when we got there, they had nothing to sell! No ube pasties or upside down halo-halo; was told that everything was sold out. We understood and thought that since it was a very hot day, and late ( past 6pm) they have sold everything. We decided to come by Sunday again as soon as they opened thinking that would be a good time because they would have a full stock of pastries. But guess what? As soon as we got there, the shelves were empty again and they had a sign posted at the door that the halo-halo was sold out! How could you be sold out of it when we got there just a few minutes after they opened?! When we inquired, the lady behind the counter said that their shipment of pasties which come from SoCal did not arrive and all they had to sell were the cold drinks. I think they should not even open without all the ube pastries and halo-halo. So disappointed! Funny, they even have a big sign outside saying, "ube all day, everyday". What a joke!!! read more

Cool ambience and great service but my chai latte was subpar. I was very disappointed that it tasted nothing of chai and only sugar and oat milk. also, my drink was tiny. granted, i didn't mention what size i wanted but i also wasn't asked. i paid almost 7$ for the tiniest milk + sugar beverage. read more

Each treat is meticulously crafted, ensuring a delightful balance of flavors. The Ube Crack Cheesecake melts in your mouth with every bite and the Ube Crinkles were definitely a favorite. My husband loved his White Mocha Blended latte, it was a nice treat for him. The matcha latte was watered down and did not have much of a matcha taste. A definite go-to for coffee and dessert lovers. read more

Ok ... I'll give it a 3 star because the people are nice and I didn't try any of the food, so that might be good, however, they totally FAIL in the coffee department. I had a caramel latte, hot and it tasted somewhat burnt, just not very good. They do not offer drip/ pour over at all, they had no clue what an Americano is for over $6 .... I am not THAT particular about coffee, but to call yourself a cafe and not offer regular coffee is a fail. Anyway .... Might go to try the treats but maybe not , sorry. read more

Long line but felt like it moved quickly thanks to the DJ spinning. Beautifully decorated interior with seating on the left and a small lounge area on the right. Menu is displayed on two large TV displays off to the right. Display case of treats next to the register. Staff is friendly and efficient. When I first tried this place about 6 months ago, I wasn't really satisfied with what I had (ube crinkle, ube crack cheesecake, ube pop tart). Fast forward a couple months I decided to give the place another try and now im an addict. Their ube leche flan cupcakes & ube truffles are both simple yet sooo good. But the ube tres leches has taken over my life!! The cashew meringue is the STAR. The location itself is also really cute and inviting inside, a nice place to enjoy the ambiance and your desserts. read more

GO now and order the upside down Halo Halo, crack ube and flan ube cupcake! It's soooo good! This is the only place to go and have your Halo Halo! Staff are very friendly and welcoming and service is great and fast! I love ALL the Star Wars decor! read more

Dine in for halo halo. We asked for long spoons & napkins for halo halo after was made. Customer service said they don't have any. Manager order until Thursday. We said what are we going to use. There was a mini spoon like use for ice cream at baskin Robins. Just use that he said. Freakn mini spoon to scoop the ingredients with a tall plastic glass. Likely we live closed by. Sad. read more

In the past, water was available in small jars, but now it's set up in a larger dispenser. After ordering ice cream, we went to grab some water, but it had run out. I let the staff member in front know, and she kindly explained that they were out, which I completely understood. However, another staff member suddenly commented that there was no water and that if I wanted some, I should buy and pay for it. It was a bit surprising--not because of the policy, but because of the tone, which came across as a bit harsh. Maybe she was just having a bad day, which I can understand, but the delivery didn't feel very welcoming. I want to emphasize that I have no issue paying for water at all; in fact, I planned to go back to the car after ice cream to get water since we parked nearby. It was just the way it was said that didn't sit well. I didn't say anything at the moment since I understand everyone can have off days, but I do think consistency in how customers are spoken to is important--others might not take that tone as lightly. The food presentation was impressive: We were given a small plate that held about two bites of salad. The bottom plate of the tray held finger sandwiches: egg salad and cucumber with cream cheese. The croissant sandwich had a thin slice of apple and sliced ham and cheese. The middle plate had freshly baked scones served with passion fruit curd. They were delicious and had a slight crunch on the edges of the scone as you bit into it. The top plate held desserts : individual fruit tart , french macarons( not made inhouse), and a lavender infused dessert with a creamy center. Every dessert was a "delight" to eat! Everyone who came with us to have tea, was impressed with The Hen and Drake and would definitely come back here. We were here to celebrate a birthday and to the birthday girl's delight, she was given a tiny cute ceramic duck container filled with a bit of custard to eat. I first heard about Cafe 86 years ago when they only had locations in Southern California, so I was thrilled to discover they opened a location near me. My visit exceeded all expectations. I ordered the halo halo, which they serve in two delightful ways: the traditional kind with evaporated milk and a unique version with an ube ice cream mixture. Both were exceptional, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures. Being an ube enthusiast, I couldn't resist trying their ube crinkle, ube cupcake flan, ube cheesecake, and ube bar.
