I called La Delicias ahead of time specifically to confirm their hours because I wanted to make sure we could come in and eat. I was told they were open until 7:00 PM. We arrived at approximately 6:15 PM -- nearly 45 minutes before their posted closing time -- expecting to sit down and have dinner. Instead, we were told, "Sorry, you cannot eat here because we close at 7:00 and we need time to clean." Seriously? If you don't allow customers to sit down and eat at 6:15 PM, then YOU ARE NOT OPEN UNTIL 7:00 PM. Change your hours to reflect the actual time you stop serving customers. I even explained to the woman that I had called ahead before coming and specifically asked about their closing time. I told her, "I called an hour ahead of time. You told me you close at 7:00. It's 6:15, and I'm here, and I can't even sit down and eat?" There was absolutely no empathy, no attempt to accommodate us, and no concern whatsoever that we had made the effort to call ahead and come there based on the information they gave us. I completely understand that employees need time to clean and close the restaurant. But you don't start turning customers away nearly an hour before your advertised closing time and expect people to be okay with it. If you need that much time to clean, then your business hours should say that you close at 6:15 PM. This wasn't about expecting special treatment. It was about basic honesty, reasonable customer service, and respecting people's time. We drove there expecting to have dinner, only to be turned away while they were still technically open.
