We were in the area for a holiday train ride, so after that event we wanted to find something near by. The ladies working the event gave us a few options, one being Sunrise. Since we had a few friends with celiacs with us we figured a Mexican restaurant would definitely have options for everyone, which they did! Our waiter was super helpful and friendly double checked ingredients when asked. We all raved about our food and even our picky celiac friends were happy! Their white cheese is delish! I have been going to this restaurant for decades and honestly the quality has stayed the same the entire time: perfect & delicious. Wait staff is very kind and helpful for newcomers to this place. Be prepared to spend $30 a person per meal including drink and tip but it's well worth it and you will most likely have leftovers. This place feels like home and the vibes are immaculate. The to-go orders are prepared with just as much dedication and are prepared so quick. Please do yourself a favor and try the chicken soup and chicken fajita tacos, you WILL NOT regret it. I went there to treat my visiting niece to authentic Mexian food and the margaritas, which are huge. They taste like powdered juice mix. I ordered steak Ranchero and it looked and taste worse than my cats' food. I found a black curly hair in the food.. I have been here a few times and wanted to give a review. I had the Combo Plate (Chile Relleno & Enchilada w/Rice and Beans). The Chile was perfect, with just enough spice to make my mouth water, and the Enchilada was fantastic. I don't know what kind of beans the use but they were among the best I ever had. I have been here a few times. Food and service is always great. My parents love coming here. When you enter you are immediately greeted and taken to a table. Your waiter will bring chips and fresh salsa. It is addicting! So good. I noticed this time that they had several signs up regarding "Only one refill"... and another for "For substitution changes there will be a fee"... I think they should just note it in a small place on the menu instead of having so many yellow signs all over the restaurant. Anyways, back to the food and service. The first time I decided to order a combination plate. It came with a soft taco, hard shell taco and an enchilada. Please keep in mind that this plates are very filling. It also comes with a side of rice and Mexican pinto beans. I was able to finish the soft taco and enchilada but once I reached the hard shell taco I was really full. It was all very good and fresh. I love their rice and Mexican pinto beans. The second time I came here I decided to give the chile relleno a try. This is definitely on the top of my list. It was great. Not too spicy. This also came with rice and beans. My parents ordered the chicken and fajita platter for 2. This was shocking. It all comes out in a big plate! super cool. I tried the fajitas and loved them. Not a bad Mexican restaurant. It's just unfortunate that most of the items on the menu are a bit bland. I've tried a few things and most of the time the food comes out underseasoned. That being said, the botana platter is one of the better items you can order. It's basically loaded nachos, layers of received beans, cheese, sautéed onions, and fajita meat of your choice (chicken, beef or mix). This is my favorite entree, and it's great for feeding a crowd. It's served with guac and veggies as well. The service is usually very good, and the kitchen staff is able to push food out fairly quickly. read more

Food was barely edible, everything tasted like it came from a can. My husband ordered the porterhouse steak, it smelled and tasted like a porkchop, he did not finish it. In fact no one finished their meals. Service was beyond slow and not helpful. We asked to see manager about the bill, and we were told he was too busy. Interior is kind of dark but everything, including the bathroom, appeared clean. Very friendly server who helped us make our selections. This place is okay to me. My folks love this place they usually come once a week and always insist on bringing us with them when we visit. This place is a little outdated on decor but the food is good. It's as authentic as Mexican food can get. I shared a mixed chicken and fajitas platter with my mother. This platter was huge! Could easily feed 3-4 people. It's served with rice and charro beans with freshly hand made tortillas. Now the customer service started out great and then it went sour. The waitress completely disappeared. I never got a refill the entire hour we were there. My mother requested some corn tortillas, if it wasn't for me hounding down the waitress she would have never got them. Absolutely some of the best home cooked Mexican food I have had...the simplicity of a taco can be complicated to get right. I Order the fajita which was alright but did not come with the sour cream or guacamole. The beef was not freshly made maybe from earlier. I ordered the chicken fajitas that were served with rice and beans only. I would enjoyed my meal if it was Accompanied by a few of the usual things you get with fajitas. We had a wonderful lunch here today. Number 41, chicken fajitas +3 grilled shrimp. Terrific corn tortillas. We got a side salad instead of the french fries, so we had lettuce tomatoes and shredded cheese to put on our fajitas. We also ordered a side of avocado mash, and that went on the fajitas also. Well, I had great expectations for this place, because I heard good things about it. I think that the only things we enjoyed were the chips & salsa and the iced tea. Service was okay until we needed the check. The food does not taste authentic at all. The refried beans tasted canned, the chicken and steak for the fajitas tasted like it was reheated. The rice was dry and the charro beans were tasteless. All of the food in general had lacked in flavor. There was no shortage of cilantro though! I can still taste that! The appetizers were another story! We had the shrimp cocktail, which was literally precooked thawed out shrimp drenched in some sweet red sauce, AND CILANTRO! The avocado was fresh... The tamales and the flautas were dry. Most likely ready made and heated up. She offers us cheese and sour cream and didn't inform us that it was an extra cost, and prepackaged. I had what they called a Margarita.... IT WAS GREEN! In all of my 21 years bartending, I have never seen green margaritas! Obviously another shortcut! Do they make anything fresh??? read more

We have been to this restaurant in past years but our last visit was not enjoyable. The service was at best fair. Our meals were the worst Mexican food we ever ordered. I had Enchiladas and they were very dry with no sauce inside or on top as was my husband's burrito and our grandaughter's meal. They only had one salsa to offer and the tortilla chips were very thick. The only hot sauce they had was Tabasco or Crystal. And they call this a Mexican restaurant? !
