He was slammed and we felt bad so decided to come a few days later. Service was great! Food was pretty good and interesting. We love espresso martinis and got the spiced espresso martini. We saw it had rum instead of the normal vodka. We both didn't like the drink at all... Rum is not our thing but figured we'd give it a try. We got a salad with house made halloumi cheese which was kinda different. Scallops were pretty good but not too exciting. The pear Gorgonzola was pretty good but I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola much so I squeezed a lot of it out. The fish was amazing! That was our favorite dish. And for desert the satanic garden was cute with little grape bunnies! Very cute but was just ok flavor wise.

When we came in at night there was a live singer performing and chatting with us which really amped up the atmosphere, and the dessert was lovely. Lunch was great as well - we got the duck (that sauce is divine), the pork belly (so tender and juicy), the squid ink burger (interesting flavours) and the truffle fries (just yum). Price is a bit on the higher end but it is worth it. Definitely a true contender on the Peel St strip.

Nestled in the quiet block of Grenfell St. just steps from Rymill Park this gem is quite abuzz with crepe making energy; there are two types gallettes (savory) and sweet to choose from. we chose gallettes to share, one La Traditionelle ($11.5: ham, egg sunny side up, and swiss cheese) and one Saint Malo ($14.5: ham, sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, basil, and olive oil). You can ask for any egg preparation, I chose scrambled. Opened for long hours each day they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The tiny bistro is a powerhouse of excellent, friendly customer service. It is adequately staffed with friendly counter help who care about your dining experience. The three times I have been there in the last month indicates consistent excellence and quick, though not hurried service. There are well prepared croissants (prepared in site daily) in addition to an authentic pain au chocolate. I plan to eat my way across their dessert case and will keep you posted on my progress. TWO THUMB UP - this is a 'must do' destination, especially when in need of respite from the day-to-day stresses of life. Treat yourself to a French stay-cation without leaving the CBD.

Well worth a visit if you are in the East End!

The home style iced teas and flavoured cold milk drinks are a splash of Heaven on a summers day, and the dessert cake selection are the perfect end to a autumn nights city strolling and the chocolates and coffee are prefect in winter. The gift boxes are the prefect thing to take back to the office when you need to bribe the admin assistant (they're just a little too good to take home for mum) if they last the distance... This is the kind of place I'll take any bitter ex-pats and east coaster visitors who need to see that Adelaide's got talent, and so far everyone of them has gawked in amazement and walked out with a smile.

So you can imagine the trepidation when I walked into Waffle's Waffle and it smelt of sugar, caramel and all that warming good stuff. But I am happy to report back I finished my half belgium waffle here with ice cream and strawberries minus the cray cray aftermath and sugar overload. It was so refreshing to have a dessert that wasn't smothered in cream, chocolate sauce and syrup but was instead light, fluffy and fresh. For $8 I received a generous serving of vanilla ice cream and fresh, juicy strawberries with enough chocolate sauce to ensure the waffle wasn't too dry or bland. The half serving was perfect for a morning tea sized snack. I'm really disappointed this place doesn't open later for weeknight desserts and that is the only reason for a loss of star. But it is definitely worth trying on a weekend or early Friday night after dinner at Cos or drinks at Udaberri across the road.

Don't you just love it when somewhere exceeds all of your expectations? Well say hello to Chocolate…read moreTaperia. This little dessert bar opened only about a week ago on Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. I snapped a picture of it while it was still being fitted out, a large pink window with the words 'Chocolate Taperia' and a cardboard sign on the door saying 'coming soon'. To tell you the truth I was excited, I'm always excited to try a new dessert bar, but I was also preparing myself to be disappointed. See, all I'd seen was this large pink window that made me think this was going to be a bit too sterile but cutsey to have that real dessert bar charm. Enter last Sunday night, and the pink window is now joined by a few rustic chairs and tables, and the door now opens to a beautifully lit wooden room with antique style chairs and gorgeous wood work. Hello Chocolate Taperia - I think I'm in love. The menu is hispanic, with delicious desserts from Spain and Latin America. It was created by chef Jean-Claude de Toulouse, and he popped over to our table to explain a bit about the menu. It was a nice touch. The Sweet Tapas platters are great for sharing, but try and tackle one yourself and you'll end up wrapping biscuits up in a napkin to take home for later. They sure can be filling. There are 'warm temptations' perfect for winter, and some seasonal desserts. Chocolate Taperia do a good job at pulling off the whole package. Nothing is half arsed (excuse my french), they've put 100% into the menu, the setting, and the service. I'm always rooting for a dessert place that does more than throw together some crepes, waffles, and a fondant and call it a menu. So I hope Chocolate Taperia gets it's name out there as a firm contender on the dessert scene.

For chocolate addicts, it doesn't get much better than this (or worse if you have the "eyes bigger…read morethan stomach" condition like me). Everything from the pressed metal walls to the booths with mini lamp lights and sheer golden curtains creates an aura of luxurious, dark chocolate, I mean wooden, boudoir. The service has been wonderful both times I have been here - friendly, attentive (sometimes a little too much) and always able to manage a large crowd of people (of which there is always one around). A menu of hot and iced chocolates coming in orange, mint, chilli flavours combined with South American herbal teas, coffee and sodas are a nice introduction but lets be realistic you're here for those 2 pages of chocolate based desserts on the menu. I normally pick a chocolate tapas platter to share which changes on a monthly basis just so I can try combinations of dark sticky chocolate with churros or tarts with macarons and mini mousse pots. "Presentation" is the one word I would use to describe the essence of this place. From the carefully decorated dishes to the interior and the staffs manner, it is definitely worth adding to the "best dessert bars of Adelaide," list.
