Worst service ever! Have been here for 90 min still no food. Yes we are a party of 14 BUT when we arrive at 5:30 pm the restaurant was empty! We asked to speak to the manager 3 times before he finally showed up and oh guess what he's the owner!! He said well were busy! NOT ACCEPTABLE! He was a complete a**! I have never had such unacceptable service. Table was never bussed water was never filled drinks took 1/2 hr the waitress forget to take some of our food orders and then never came back!!! There are plenty of places to eat in this city and I'd recommend avoiding this one. It took quite awhile to be served as they assumed we were there for a shrimp or crab boil (something of the sortil? Not sure how going there for any reason means you don't need served. Very limited selection of beer on tap and they don't have a single cider even in a bottle. Waitress/bartender was new but she knew nothing. She had to keep running to the other bartender and to the kitchen to ask rather simple questions. We ordered two appetizers to share, the greens and humus. The humus was basically ground garlic and the greens were cold and sitting in at least half cup of oil. They remade the greens and they were much better, we opted out of the remade humus altogether. I ordered white fish francaise. It was heavily breaded and rather flavorless. I've definitely had better. I was very underwhelmed here. To top it off the children sitting at the bar was odd and annoying. Hearing "daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy" from across the bar was just unnecessary. It appeared almost that the wait and cook staff was there just to babysit them. read more

Went here for the first time today after my sisters high school graduation. The food was good, however, the service was the worst I've ever experienced at any restaurant ever. We waited forever for our food and our server rarely checked to see if we needed anything. My husband ordered a 3 course meal and eventfully gave up on the second course because everyone had already finished their meals. When we asked to speak to a manager and rather than discounting our bill, they offered us an additional dessert. The food was good but the service completely ruined our experience and I definitely would not recommend this place for a nice family dinner. read more

I was at Cafe 422 tonight with a group of people, and everyone loved their meal. We had the hummus and hot peppers and oil as appetizers. It was the best hummus I have ever had! And everyone also loved the hot peppers and oil. I also had mahi mahi for dinner- it was delicious! I and several members of the dinner party have had dinner at Cafe 422 several times in the past, and we will continue going there. Everything was delicious, and the service was amazing! Jessica was our waitress and she was pleasant, attentive, professional, and a wonderful waitress! The owner stopped by the table and he was wonderful! I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

OK. You know I was a fan of this restaurant. See that picture of the bar? That was me! That's why it pains me to review this place negatively. The question you have to ask yourself before you try this restaurant is, "How much am I willing to put up with for a good meal?" To be fair the food is above average in preparation and the price point is very appealing. If you can put up with 20 minutes before wait staff comes to your table for the first time; if you can put up with 35" before the 1st drink you ordered to come to your table; if the people with you who ordered only an entree can stand waiting 1 hour 5 minutes before a morsel of food enters their body; if you don't mind that the salad you just waited an hour and 5 minutes for comes out with no dressing, this is the place for you! I don't think anyone is watching the front of the house. After several food errors, I'm pretty sure no one is watching the back of the house. After 3 unfulfilled requests from our waitress, dejected, I finally surrendered. What Cafe 422 has going for it is that the food is marginally better than most places around. If someone opens a restaurant next door that is efficient, with good food, and even mediocre service, lookout Cafe 422. Take my advice. Keep driving and find somewhere -- anywhere-- else. read more

My mother in law invited the family to join her for dinner tonight at Cafe 422 in Boardman. We sat on the patio, a little chilly but the atmosphere was great with a live band playing. We ordered the prime rib special and it was great. Service was very attentive and got everything right. I highly recommend to anyone looking for great meal at a reasonable price. No. Just No. This location gives Cafe 422 a bad name and it's definitely no Rusty's (still so sad). My friend had her rehearsal dinner here the night before her wedding and it was just awful for her. They have a private room that you enter only by walking through what they improperly call another private room. My friend visited the restaurant several days earlier to go over details and ensure that her event was held in the farther room so that no other people were walking through her rehearsal dinner to get to their event, yet they still set up for her rehearsal dinner in the first room so all night during dinner people that we didn't know trying to get to the other event were walking through the room that we were in, opening the door to the other event and leaving it open letting their very loud seep into my friend's dinner. When we would close the door to the other party, inevitably moments later a guest from that party would walk out to use the bathroom and leave the door open again. It was very disruptive. From the circumstances that occurred that night when my friend complained of the error, it appeared that the restaurant knew just what they were doing when they swapped rooms, presumably with the thought that even if she complained they were still able to make enough money off of the other party that booked to make up for moving my friend's dinner even though she booked the other room. The service also left much to be desired. They were literally removing half-drank beverages and half-eaten dinners from us after my friend complained about the error. Rather than trying to right the wrong they tried to hurry her and her party along. And in terms of the food, it is "faux-talian" at it's finest. If you want food of this caliber I guess you could just go to Olive Garden where they won't be so rude to you. read more

I stopped in on a Friday night for dinner with a few friends and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that it was ladies night.  Not only was there live music but they had great drink specials too.  The restaurant is beautiful and they even have a great deck/patio area outside. I absolutely love the ambiance there! The food was delicious. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent too. The staff was quite personable and it made for a very pleasant evening. Also, I found out they have a different special each night of the week. For example, Tuesday is prime rib night for $10. You seriously can't beat that. I'll definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

We went around 2pm. Left at 4! The food was great! We had chicken cacciatore, greens salad, chicken club and the spinach artichoke dip and wedding soup. It took 45 mins to get our soup and salad, then 5 mins later the dip. Then food was another 15 mins. There was one other table so do not know why service was so very slow. We did not have cocktails, so don't know if would have checked on us more if had drinks. Then the waiter wrapped all the food but did not bring our check. Had to find hostess and ask her to get it for us. I would go back, but maybe pick a different time to see if service is better. read more

One word pathetic the food was cold, tasteless and my wife's steak was served cold and way over cooked, the service was terrible waiting an hour for our entire then having some guy tell us he was sorry the kitchen was busy. New management- not good anymore We have gone for past few Christmas Eve dinners. It was always good except this year. First, they do not have a full menu anymore. Second, they up charge the items they do have on the special menu. Example: Chicken dish was $23.95 on special menu; $14.99 on regular menu. Third, the chicken franchaise for my mom & sister were bone dry. Fourth, Appetizers were made in tiny portions. We had the "b" team staff as well. Sadly, my mom was looking forward to the Almond Crusted Chicken all month. Not on special menu. Lastly NOTHING came out at the same time. We have been to Cafe 422 dozens of times. My wife always orders the Parmesan Crusted Haddock. She LOVES it. I have had their strip steaks the last two times there. The last one was just bad. The strip steak I had tonight was worse. Probably the worst two steaks I've ever eaten. Never thought anyone could serve such bad steaks twice. Pasta Fajoli great. Bread great. Went to 422 to have fish Friday and I felt like my server was rushing me. He was always walking off before I can even ask him for something. He was so abrupt and rude when I would ask questions. I think his name was Jose. I asked for the manager and they kept making excuses. Anyways, not coming back here again because of bad service. read more

The Happy Hour Menu is Crazy Good for food and drinks. The wood fired pizza is Awesome, as well as the eggplant carbonara. As a matter of fact we've not had a bad meal here. The best restaurant in the valley by far! I've only eaten in a couple in the country. That can mach the quality of food and service they provide! Very classy friendly environment. Great atlasphere! Great decor! The 422 staff are amazing!! I interacted with five to six different 422 staff. I never been treated so well! Like a king! The food is THE BEST!! Great prices. They definitely have the top Chef in the valley. I live 45 minutes away in sharon, Pa and have eaten at cafe 422 three times. Since going there for the first time five days ago. Thats how fabulous the food is!!! The owner came to the table and checked to make sure my wife and I were happy with everything. That showed me he cares about his customers. Definitely the best restaurant experience I've ever had! Gotta try the lamb lollipops unbelievable!!! Thank you everyone at cafe 422! You're the best in the valley!!! Staff does not know menu. Have ordered take out several times in the past, but things have been wrong or not as the menu described. Ordered a salad with hot peppers on the side, but staff failed to tell me that salad is marinated in them. I tried to eat the salad anyway, but I am very sensitive to hot and one bite of lettuce burned my mouth. I had to throw the salad away and go somewhere else to get something for dinner. We will not be eating here again. On a side note, menu says salad comes with kalamata olives but salad came with sliced black and green olives. read more

Had no beer on tap. Claimed beer truck never arrived. Entrees came with a side salad that consisted of a dismal dozen pieces of lettuce & a slice of cuke. Bread served was dry. Seafood dish was requested with a white sauce but wasn't an Alfredo as expected just more like flavored water although the dish was satisfactory otherwise. I've been to every restaurant that has been in this building since 1996, and I believe Cafe 422 has the best and most versatile menu of them all. But more importantly cafe 422 has the best ambiance and setup versus the rest. The interior design is great. I thought the staff and owner were super friendly. The pizzas were amazing. They were brick oven and crispy throughout, just like you find in Rome. Their cocktail list is extensive and delicious. Their pastas and daily specials are also impressive. I will be back again soon to taste the other pizzas on the menu. A bonus in the summer is the open patio too and the weekly entertainment. read more

Stopping at this restaurant while traveling through the area. Would never eat here again. The food was ok not great and the service was terrible. There were 4 in our party and 3 entrees came out but the 4th didn't materialize until well after everyone else was done eating a good 30 minutes later. We were told another member of the wait staff had taken it so it needed to be prepared all over again. We were also told they would ask the manager about comping that entree. Nothing not even a complementary dessert or drink was offered. Would never go back here again. We travel to this area quite often and will be avoiding this restaurant. read more

During a recent visit the service was well below par. The waitress never brought our bread. It was probably an hour between our salad and our meals. The owner walked around asking customer who actually had food to eat how their meals were, but the nine times he walked by our EMPTY table he wouldn't make eye contact, let alone ask us how we were doing or apologize for the wait. At the end of our meal we observed the hostess attempt the get a couple who was waiting at the bar for at least 45 minutes for a table, but she was stopped by the owner in favor of seating some of what appeared to be his friends who had just walked in the door. The food was good, but not great. I attempted to post this feedback to their facebook page only to have it not only deleted but blocked from posting on their wall. So instead of addressing the issue they chose to block and ignore me. Apparently unless you know the owner personally you should expect sub par service. So if you are not friends with the owner I would advise going around the Corner to Carmella's. Better food, better atmosphere, and better service. read more
