I'm not in agreement with many reviews here. I really enjoyed our meal, and the Reserve wines were really fragrant and worth the bump up in price. We drove from Kent (45 min drive) for this experience. Table for two on a Saturday night, and had reservations. No wait. We didn't feast, but left full. The stuffed peppers looked fantastic, but we passed. Started with the Reserve Cabernet which I liked, very weighty, nice fruit flavor (cherry) and oak. My wife didn't enjoy it as much and switched to a glass of Bourbon Barrel Cab Sav. It was lighter and had a nice bourbon hint which wasn't overpowering. Dinner was the Cheese Carbonara (delicious) and Blackened Chicken Alfredo. Both were very good. The bread was light, airy, and flavorful. Perhaps some olive oil drizzle or dipping oil would send it over the top. That said, I'm not complaining one bit. Our waitress was fairly attentive, and was patient, but not near the best. She was friendly, as everyone was, just good. overall, I liked this visit and will return. read more

I wish and really really want to give this place a better rating but it just does not make it past, Ok. first off our service was great. Our server was so nice and efficient and just really did an outstanding job. My food however, not that great and quite frankly a little disappointing. What in the world is this place trying to pass off as greens, Mediterranean Greens with hummus. Its basically soggy romaine lettuce that they call greens and throw some shady spicy sauce on. Someone else in our party said don't get the greens they are terrible here, I said, its greens you cant screw that up, we live in Youngstown." Well, I was very wrong. I ordered the tortellini and asked for a white wine sauce which was very good except for the handfuls of Kalamata olives. Ok, a few olives are ok, But 50% percent of this dish was olives, and I like Kalamata olives. The wine is VERY GOOD Here, but i really don't think i will be going out of my way to eat dinner here. Like I said, its Okay but not great. I would however give them another chance and come for the prime rib I will change my review upon that day. Parking is decent, but between the winery, restaurant and staff, it's usually pretty full, even if the restaurant necessarily isn't. The wait staff is friendly however, the tall, thin female hostess has about as much personality as a can of sardines. No hello when you get there, no thanks for coming when you leave. Why's she there again? The wine is obviously really, really good, as is the Sangria, which my wife had and enjoys. There's no draft beer, only bottles and it's marked up a bit, but whatever....you're at a winery. On to the food: Very good. The portions aren't as big as what you'd expect, but I'm totally okay with it. Most of the time when I get huge portions, I leave feeling like I'm going to bust at the seams. Taking it home really never ends up tasting the same, so why bother? In any case, the smaller portions make sense, so you have more room for wine. What knocks this place down to a 3 in my opinion, besides the personality-less "hostess" is the acoustics of the place. I know, I know...you're sitting there reading this wondering wtf, but let me explain a bit. To equate it to anything, I felt like I was dining in a cave. It's so echoey that over time, it becomes pretty irritating and the more people that come in, the worse it gets. All in all, I'd go back, but would recommend going AS SOON AS IT OPENS, that way you don't deal with as much noise. read more

I've eaten here twice now (same meal both times) and while the first time was incredible, the second was just so so. That said I'll still be back because I think it's a great place that had an off night. I would recommend the charred eggplant with asparagus and farro, it's delicious. My second go round with it the eggplant was super thin so it was chewy and tough, but the asparagus and farro were spot on. I'd also recommend the peppers in oil as an appetizer, fairly mild heat but great flavor. I'm not a sweet wine girl, and they seem to trend that way, but the '13 Cabernet is pretty good. Service has always been good too, no complaints there at all. Relaxing atmosphere, and I'd image eating on the patio in nice weather would make for a fun evening as well. read more

We stopped here on our way home for lunch. When we arrived they only had one waiter doing everything. Poor guy had someone order 3 cases of wine. We just wanted to sit down to eat. We patiently waited around. We had the Chicken Parm & Spaghetti and it was amazingly great. We have Pinot and Chardonnay with our food. They were both great. We ended up purchasing 4 bottles of wine. They have a lot of different wines. We wanted to do a tasting but it's $9 for 5 tastings in which that is very expensive. We got two free tastings. Then just went with what we thought would be good. The only recommendation is to allow a smaller fee for wine tasting. Try a flight of Reds, Whites, and Sweets for a certain price but no more than $6 per person. read more

Luva Bella sounds like it has a chance of being a nice winery. It's not. Maybe it use to be when it opened - but the place has gone downhill since the last time I've been there (6 years ago). My family and I went there to eat - all of the food was sub-par. My mom ordered a steak and was not happy with the quality of the steak or how it was cooked. She left most of it on her plate. I ordered a margarita pizza - none of the ingredients were fresh. A margarita pizza is usually served with fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato, and basil. This pizza tasted like it came from a cardboard box from my freezer. The crust reminded me of a cardboard box as well. And don't get me started on the wine. Flavored wine ? What the hell is that? I may as well go to the gas station and get a bottle of Boones Farm ! On the Luva Bella website, they claim to be a 'California-Style Winery' . I've lived in California before and visited many wineries. Luva Bella is NOT a California winery. It's a mediocre restaurant with wine. Sweet wine at that - flavored wine ! Needless to say, I felt like it was amateur wine night in Lowellville. I won't be going back. read more

I was only here once and the steak I ordered was good. I was there on a Saturday, which is their night for prime rib special. The guy I was dating at the time had drove in from Cleveland and by the time we got there the prime rib he had ordered was the last available (7:30pm). The wine was very good though! They REALLY need a new bartender. We walked in on a Thursday afternoon and waited five minutes for anyone to even notice us. There was live entertainment, though; the bartender was picking his nose while texting the whole time. The dining area itself is nicely done in muted tones and hardwoods, and our actual server was very nice and attentive. I ordered the prime rib which I have had before, but this time it was very small and dry. A common complaint is the small portions and this is very true. We went to Luva Bella to celebrate our sister's birthday. Our party of 12 was very disappointed in not only the selection of food but also the small portions (What happened to the bread salad?). Steak salad had 6 small pieces of steak and no fries. The steak sandwich came with potato chips & you had to pay extra if you wanted French fries. This was once a fabulous restaurant that had a wonderful menu and enough food to satisfy the heartiest appetite. Needless to say our family will not be dining here again. a few years ago- I had the worst experience at Luva Bella for a lunch with my family. My sister ordered a shrimp dish and did not care for the taste of how they were cooked. After expressing politely to our waitress that she would like to send her food back, the cook came out of the kitchen - and asked the whole restaurant "who sent the shrimp back?" So not only is my sister embarrassed but the whole restaurant watches as the waitress points my sister out. The cook then comes over to our table and questions my sister loudly and claims that "his food is perfect" - clearly it was not if it was not to the taste of the customer. The manager never came over to apologize for the rudeness of this employee nor did the waitress. My family and I left with a bad taste in our mouth both literally and figuratively. We've never returned and always make sure family and friends are aware of the rude and unapologetic staff. read more

What happened to you, L'uva Bella? I'm not sure if there's a new chef, or a new owner, or what, but our experience tonight was really disappointing. Before tonight, L'uva Bella was one of our favorite area restaurants and we would eat here at least once every other month. We were seated on the patio. Despite the nearby construction, the atmosphere was nice, although we could have done without the super loud 70s jams. Our waitress, although very pleasant and friendly, took about 10 minutes to finally come out and take our drink order. The hostess did not give us a wine list; cue more waiting. When we got the wine list (and the specials menu), it felt cheap...the actual physical menu is so nice, you would think a WINERY would have a wine list (to showcase their own wine!) that's a little nicer than a cheap laminated half sheet of paper. The specials were very limited compared to what they used to offer...fried ravioli? No thanks. The menu also looked a little different...more sandwiches and lighter fare compared to some of the more substantial entrees they used to have. We ordered the mussels, which is (now was, unfortunately) our favorite thing on the menu, along with sopping up the sauce with their delicious freshly baked bread. The mussels tasted fine, but we asked for bread, and it did not come out for 20 minutes. When it did finally come out, not only was it burnt, but it was cold! There have been times in the past when we have actually taken bread home to make French toast the next day - tonight's bread was almost inedible. Our food finally came out, a good hour after we first sat down. I ordered the grouper Marsala, which was underwhelming and kind of sad - just slopped together. The risotto, which I remember being so delicious in the past, was gummy and had no flavor. My husband had the Mako shark, which he said had a nice flavor, but the "blackened" crust was overcooked to the point where it was almost difficult to eat. We also noticed that no sides were offered with the entree - I am positive there were sides in the past, or at least a salad (a side salad was $3.50 extra!) included with the entrees. Our experience tonight made us so sad... what has happened to one of our favorite restaurants? It used to be such a special, unique dining experience. We saw other diners being served sandwiches and BAGS OF CHIPS. Bags of chips! Our meal was certainly not worth the $71 bill and I'm not sure we'll be back any time soon, sadly. Thankfully we drove past Handel's on the way home - so the night wasn't a total loss! read more

L'uva Bella Winery has become popular and has gone through growing pains. This is due to a new chef,creating great food, and offer wines that are sweet, medium and full bodied at very reasonable prices. Stephanie must not have tried the Petit Syrah or the Cabernet Sauvignon which is from California grapes and are excellent. They are low in sulfides and would stand up to any wine you may try from a California winery. The fruit wines are in response to those (majority of the Ohio public) that love a sweet wine. They are light bodied and infused with a fruit other than grapes. They realized service was lacking so they hired more servers and now have two hostesses on Friday and Saturday evenings. Traci, there usually is a wait on Friday and Saturday evenings because it is one of the best eateries in the area and it is not a chain. read more

I've never eaten there. I'm from Pittsburgh and make homemade wine. I come there twice a year for the Californian and Chilean grapes. I have found the employees as well as the wine maker to be very nice and helpful. As a matter of fact, I'm heading there in about an hour for my fall grapes. I was part of the party of 12 that went out to celebrate my sisters birthday. I got the bruschetta appetizer to share with my grandson. For $9.00, I received 5 slices of bread. I also got the steak salad that only had 6 pieces of steak that were cut into small cubes. We have eaten here before and it was great. We don't know what happened to the portion sizes or the food. I came to the restaurant for my Husband and I's anniversary. We were seated quickly and the waitress was very polite and gave us our drinks quickly. We weren't a fan of the flavored wine, but the food was great! We ordered some pasta and it was cooked really well, the sauce was rich and thick, although a little spicy. The waitress came ever 3-4 minutes and was very sweet. All around a nice experience! The atmosphere is really home-y and warm. I can't wait to come back! read more
