Best Italian restaurant in New Castle! Food here is the best! Servants and management take care of there customers!

Food was delicious. The service was horrible. We were told it would be a few minutes...no big deal. We were chatting to each other when a customer sitting at his table got our attention. The host was signaling us our table was ready. Now we are at the front the host is at the back snapping his fingers at us! We get to our table and he threw our menu on the table! Now the server took our I orders, brought our drinks and salads. We ate the salads and we were again chatting and laughing and chatting and laughing for a very long time. Our server happened to walk by and ask if we had got our food yet. Now our empty salad bowls are there but nothing else! Approximately 10 minutes later he brought our entree. We ask for bread and parm cheese. Never got either. We got the cheese from an empty table and flagged down another server and ask for bread which we got immediately. As I was paying the bill at the front I quietly told the host why the server was not getting at tip. He did not even look at me! Just said we're really busy! No I will not be back. No I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

This is my second time coming to this restaurant. Very popular among the Italian community. One thing is for sure, you better come hungry. Their portion is big!! Service is good, staff are very attentive and friendly. If you're looking for fine dining, this is not the place for you. Wow, talk about a difference since my last visit. Ordered the veal parmigiana with angel hair instead of penne, veal was tough and chewy, pasta wasn't angel hair- closer to vermicelli, pasta not tossed in the sauce and not drained sufficiently (water on the plate) the whole plate covered in an inordinate amount of sauce. Sauce was sweet with no hint of garlic, oregano or basil- nothing close to real Italian. So forget dipping the soft crust "Italian" bread in it. Service was fast but without any personality, wanted to get back to a table with 2 other servers, phones and chit chat. Interior same as it always has been, boring. Local New Castle favorite for Italian food. It's not fancy, it's not gourmet, it's just simple and good. As you can see by the photos they put plenty of sauce. I've seen reviews with people complaining about that, but maybe they don't know why they give you so much bread! To me, mopping up that sweet sauce is a bonus dish. Nothing is over seasoned so heart burn or any sort of crazy aftertaste is not an issue. It's just simple Italian food in a simple environment. Go hungry because the servings are massive. The soups are my choice over a salad and those are great. Everyone I've been there the service has been wonderful and they good a job taking care of you. I grew up in New Castle but live out of state for years. I usually go her when I am in town visiting and I am sure that tradition will continue. read more

The night we were there, they were serving a lot of spaghetti. I ordered chicken fettuccine. Apparently, the cook thought he'd pull a fast one. Gave me spaghetti instead of fettuccine. Love their pizza, pasta, wings sandwiches and dinners. Service is good but can be slow because they get so busy. If you are going for dinner but are in a hurry this is not the place for you. The Bar side is newer and beautiful. The old part of the restaurant is still old. I am going there for a great meal and amazing food. I don't care if the restaurant has not been updated since I was a kid. It's clean and the foods good it's what I remember as a kid. Absolutely love it. What more can you ask for ! read more

The service was horrible not friendly at all. The hostess was extremely friendly and apologetic. They have no idea about gluten free and food allergies. My servers name was Mark and he never smiled never said thank you and kept us waiting to take our order and finally had to have another server find him to get our check. Just really good food. I wanted veal parm for lunch, after dialing around, thought of Pagley's. I'm new to New Castle and the folks I work with reccomended it. Inside it's a little plain. But had a nice lunch bunch eating so figured what the heck. Got the veal parm to go, came with ziti (I subbed spag) and soup or salad. Got the wedding soup (who wouldn't?). First off, the veal was great. Actual veal, and very tender. Nice sized portion. A lot of sauce, but when the sauce is this good, I'm not complaining. Bread that came with is that thick Mancini's Italian bread from Pitt. Seriously, just all around delicious. Again, a bit plain in the decor department, but what I wanted was veal parm, and I got that, delicious and everything! read more

(I am 9 years old.) My family and I love Pagley's. The whole family often goes out on Fridays. Tonight, we went to Pagley's and had a great time. The owner, Tony greeted us when we came in! We loved the person at the register, Anthony "Hooker". He was on the phone, directing the waitresses, ringing people out, and greeting everyone as they walked in. The food was delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken tenders. The service was quick, and we had a very nice server. Everybody enjoyed their meal, and we had a great time. We love the atmosphere. 5 stars for sure. read more

The food was good but the service was minimal. The ambiance is nothing to write home about but some of the places I like most are in the same vein. No money was spent on furnishings which sometimes can relate to good value. Not so much in this case. Stopped in with my parents and son the night before my cousins wedding. My son and I traveled almost 8 hours from Connecticut and we wanted comfort food. We found it! We ordered WAY too much- penne pink, 8 CUT pizza (we aren't used to that), small ravioli, lasagna, for dinners- ten mild wings, roasted red peppers, calimari and salads for the dinners. Add a fresh loaf of Italian bread and butter to the mix with automatic refills on the soda, and I can HEAR myself getting fatter (RIP C.F.) I docked a star because we were seated right by the kitchen doors. At times, one waiter would BURST through the doors without regard to anyone. Fortunately he never hit anyone, but could someone spray some WD-40 on the swinging door hinges- kind of annoying. The decor was spartan, but I don't care about that. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. sadly the service was actually good but that can't save the horrible food. The food was atrocious. The meatball was grainy and tasted funny and the ravioli and sauce tasted like it came from a can. I have no idea how this place is as famous as it is. read more

Service and staff were very good, but I was getting carry out. Lots of orders were going out the door at the same time, and I'd say this is a very popular place with the locals. I find their sauce disappointing due to the the lack of any seasoning and garlic. (I'm not sure a single clove of garlic has ever been in the building). It taste like they poured the tomato sauce right out of the can without making it taste good. The ricotta in the ravioli and lasagna also lacked seasoning. However, the noddles appear homemade and were very good. I wouldn't trust their olive oil, it didn't taste like extra virgin. The interior of the restaurant is bland and dumpy. New Castle has a strong Italian heritage and this is a disappointing representation of the food. read more

If I could give it 1/2 star I would. I feel sorry for the good people of New Castle to have to endure such a crappy place. The food is terrible and has no flavor. The sauce is a sweet tomato mess that tastes like it was poured straight from the can. Speaking of which they slather your food in it making you search through that mess a to try and identify any evidence of the meal you ordered Speaking of other ingredients; they are an after thought. I ordered the Tour of Rome (Chicken Parmigiana , Ravioli, and Fettuccini Alfredo)...all tasteless. The environment looks like an old lodge room with no decor or Italian ambiance. The service here was terrible! Worst that I have ever had. Once we were seated, it took 1/2 hour before anyone acknowledged us and gave us menus. It took another 1/2 hour before we our order was taken. Another 1/2 hour before we got soup, salad and drinks. The food was average to poor. One of my close friends brought me and a group of coworkers out to Pagley's a few weeks ago. Knowing that she is Italian and she knows good Italian when she tastes it I was beyond excited. Absolutely everything on the menu looked amazing but she swore by the chicken parm so I had to listen to the expert. Probably one of the first times I've ever enjoyed chicken parm honestly. It was all because of the amount of sauce. There is nothing worse than dry chicken parm or pasta. This girl likes here sauce! Pagley's certainly isn't stingy with the sauce. Before the delicious entree I had a bowl of wedding soup. It was amazing as well. Watching all my coworkers eat the pasta fagioli I honestly thought about ordering a bowl of that as well. It didn't look like your typical pasta fagioli. It looked like more of a tomato sauce consistency/sauce. They also serve delicious bread at the table! I could have eaten my body weight in that bread and quite honestly I basically did. It was just that good. read more

Upon coming into this New Castle restaurant, I was excited! I am a lover or all things Italian and expected pretty great things. That was just not to be. The wedding soup was okay, although there are far better wedding soups to be had. The biggest letdown was the lasagna. The sauce tasted like it had come from a jar - and not a good one at that. At least give me Prego or something tasty. The sauce had no spices or anything to make it stand out. The lasagna also seriously skimped in the ricotta cheese, which we all know is the one of the reasons people order lasagna in the first place. The noodles ruled the dish. This is also a rather loud restaurant. I was with a group of friends for a meeting. We asked to be placed in a quiet area. This did not occur. For whatever reason, this rather uncomfortable restaurant was packed. After thinking about it, I realized that his area in New Castle doesn't really have that many restaurants, so this is kind of it. Our Italian connection next time we stop in town. Food is great with quick turnaround from the kitchen. The menu is straight up and the two times we ate there all our dishes were solid. My steak was huge and cooked to perfection and well worth more than the price. I live in California and my 90 year old aunt lives alone in New Castle. I wanted to give her a special Christmas gift this year and settled on finding a really good Christmas dinner and having it delivered to her. Someone told me Pagley's makes the best steak in the area, so I called and ordered the Ribeye and slice of Cocoanut pie for take out. Calling from California to order in New Castle made me feel a bit unsure of what kind of care would be given to my order. Fortunately, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was extremely helpful and kind, I knew that he would give my aunt's "Christmas gift" special care. Later in the day I received a photo of my aunt eating a huge beautiful Ribeye steak. She said it was very tender and delicious. She received so much food, it will feed her for three days. Thank you, Pagley's for helping me give my aunt a very special and delicious Christmas meal from 3000 miles away! I will definitely be repeating this order in the future. read more

I only had the chicken salad from here, which I heard was really good, but I was very disappointed with it. It was bland, with a glob of melted mozzarella cheese on the fries. There was a slice of tomato and 1 or 2 slices of cucumber on a bed of iceberg lettuce. While I got my meal to go, I wasn't impressed with the dining area of the restaurant while waiting for my order, also it smelled like a dirty mop in there...maybe their pasta is better, but if they can't even get a salad right, I don't have much confidence. read more

Our party had spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, stuffed hot banana peppers and the fire-grilled pizza and all of it was fantastic. Service was basically non existent. The waitress took literally 20 minutes just to acknowledge we were sitting. And this is after 10 mins of not seeing a soul we decided to seat ourselves. Our drinks didn't come until after dinner. Besides water which we were given one glass and no refills throughout the meal. The food was terrible. The soup was a pile of mush. The salads were wilted and served on a hot plate. The dinner was mediocre at best. SMH... I don't know how this place is still open. All around terrible. This place should be demolished. I always enjoyed Pagley's until tonight. Ordered a grilled chicken salad. What an absolute disappointment!!!! It was iceberg lettuce, way too many fries (I think to compensate for no veggies), mozzarella cheese and croutons. That's it. I asked for no tomatoes but there were no olives, onions, cucumbers, maybe a little carrot or purple cabbage for color...Zero, Zip, Nothing...and they charge $9.95 for it. We went here on a Tuesday evening about 5:30. It was muggy and rainy all day, but comfortable in the restaurant. The place was packed with diners! We got a table for two quickly, but then the wait began. Drinks and setups came, then we ordered, got a bread basket, then delicious wedding soup. Tables were clearing out around us, but not getting cleaned off for the next customers. The door was taking forever...does that mean it was fresher? Pasta for my grandson and steak for me, with a togo order of ravioli. How hard could it be? The tables around us were still now cleaned. Maybe 30 minute wait for the main course, then another wait for the takeout and check. The food was amazing and well worth the wait, but perhaps the staff is overwhelmed? The kitchen too crowded? Not enough helpers to clear tables and wash dishes? Fix this people. New Castle needs quality family restaurants. read more

The best part of our meal was honestly the fries. The side salad was half wilted and brown. The pasta was cooked well but the sauce was pretty bland and watered down. Usually have a much better experience here but the last time there were arguments coming from the kitchen and the hostess was not waring a mask behind the counter. I called Pagley's for takeout on a Thursday evening. I was told it would be 25 minutes before it would be ready. I arrived at the appropriate time and entered the front door of the restaurant. This place is the most chaotic restaurant I have ever visited. The wait staff is running around like their hair is on fire. The person that is at the cash register and check in desk is one of their youngest employees. Customers are seated randomly without regard to who arrives first. I stood there waiting for my pickup order for ten minutes before i was acknowledged. I thought I was invisible. Finally the young man asked me how I could be helped and I told him I had a pickup order. Surprisingly, it was ready. The food was good. The Chicken Pastina soup was tasty and the lasagna and meatballs were ok. Overall the food is pretty good but I would NEVER eat at the restaurant but only do takeout. It is a frighteningly chaotic world inside. Management needs to control the reception area and tables a LOT better. read more
