We live across the street and have never had such terrible neighborhood coffee and service. There are many fabulous coffee shops in the neighborhood who are grateful for business and willing to help. I can't say enough about how good this coffee shop is. I think it likely goes unnoticed outside of the hotel crowd and yet I've had some of the tastiest coffee and a truly memorable pistachio pastry here. Downtown LA crowd between 7th and Wilshire and Fig, you know who you are. Stop going to the Starbucks at Target (I know it's easier and I get it), but come here instead. read more

I have been a patron to this cafe for several months now. I park my vehicle here for work, and this is the closest place to grab coffee and a bite before heading to the office; however, it is now clear to me that it is always worth it to avoid this place and go somewhere else! The convenience is not worth the lack of customer service you're sure to experience here as a patron. The driving reason for the one star review is because of the staff and their lack of customer service. Especially the morning staff. There are two females that are there pretty much every weekday morning--one heavy set with glasses and the other with glasses. Both probably in their mid to late 20s or early 30s. They actually deserve zero stars for their sore lack of customer service. Zero smiles. Zero happiness. It's as if they hate their lives, hate their jobs, and hate serving you. Need something? Good luck getting their attention! Despite there being two to three staff, they will all do their best to act like they can't see you. They will focus on what's in front of them and ignore anything that is clearly in their peripheral vision. Manage to get their attention? Prepare to be greeted with a sigh of disdain and frustration that you're bothering them. As if you're burdening them with your request to be handed your coffee that was purposefully placed out of your reach so that you have no choice but to ask them for it. Why not just place the finished drinks in reach of your customers so you don't have interact with your customers if you hate it so much? Zero brains. Zero common sense. Avoid this place like the bubonic plague. A message for management. Fire your morning staff. Especially the two aforementioned female morning staff. Train the new staff that smiling costs nothing. Their attitudes make your business look bad and absolutely result in a decrease in business and ultimately hurt your bottom line. The food is fine, but it is nothing to write home about. I was at intercontinental hotel this weekend and while waiting for my room, I've decided to try this cafe located on the ground floor of the hotel. Got chicken pesto panini, iced lavender matcha latte, iced honey vanilla latte and fresh orange juice. They were all good and tasty. I just wish i can taste a little bit more of lavender in the matcha but overall it was all good. Nice and quiet ambience. I'd def coming back and try other menus. read more

False advertising: Café WG publishes being open until 7pm, but it is not. We just got turned down at 6:53pm because they shut down the espresso machine ahead of closing time. A café where you cannot get espresso is not "open". WG should be honest to customers and update their opening hours, or serve espresso until 7pm. This café is not putting customers first. Downtown life is busy and people time their activities tightly. We had planned ahead to get coffee at this location and found our time wasted because WG's false advertising. One of my regular spots to do some work near home. Good wifi, a couple outlets, not TOO loud (considering it's part of a hotel), and their food/drinks are okay. I like it because it's more of an open space and doesn't feel stuffy, with some foot traffic. Wouldn't recommend as a work/study cafe if you easily get distracted. I come here to work but also catch up with friends nearby. I've had a couple of their pastries/muffins, and they were just okay. Nothing amazing and maybe not really worth the price, but good for a quick snack. I get their blueberry matcha latte. It's sweet, has a blueberry syrup taste and a hint of matcha as well. I've always stuck with this option so haven't tried anything else here. I have to admit! This was the best coffee I have ever tasted. I would go to downtown just to get this coffee! I usually get drip coffee, this was just the best drip coffee I have ever tasted. It was soooooo good! The down side, I also got a cinnamon roll and well, it was very tiny for what I paid for. On the bright side, I guess I could think of it as a forced portion control, lol. First Yelp review for 2018!! I came here during lunch wanting to check out the Intercontinental building and the coffee shop on the first floor. The café has a nice display of their pastries and sandwiches. The place caters to the travelers and those roaming around Downtown. When I was reading the menu they offer a lavender matcha latte and I'm a sucker for anything matcha and add lavender to the drink I am sold. Service was great, but the drink had no lavender or matcha whatsoever. So pretty much I had an iced coffee with no matcha or lavender flavor in it. $5 for an iced coffee that I didn't want not worth it. Stopped by Cafe WG two days in a row. I was staying at a nearby hotel, and in search of a bomb coffee spot. Cafe WG had a handful of interesting latte options, so off I went. Day 1, I ordered the standard latte with oat milk...which whoa, tastier than expected. Maybe I was in real need of the caffeine, but it wasn't too sweet or bitter. Excellent balance. Now Day 2 had me wanting to come back to check out some more of the matcha latte options. This is where it got real weird. Okay, this spot is inside the Intercontinental Hotel. So you'd think the cafe services would be at the level that Intercontinental Hotel upholds for itself. The baristas on the second day really didn't seem to care to be there. I get it. It's a Saturday. Everyone would rather be in bed than work. But they really gave off an idc attitude. While I opted for the iced lavender matcha latte option, the bud got the blueberry matcha latte. Mine was okayyyy, but the buds was completely undrinkable. The sweetness level of the (prob) blueberry syrup sitch, was so overpowering that he was ready to toss the whole drink. I went back and asked them if they could dial back the sweetness level like 10 fold, but it still came back pretty sweet. In the end, we both had a case of the belly aches after the matcha drinks. Not sure what part of our drinks caused it. I def didn't experience that the day before. Soo 3 stars is pretty generous for an average rating btw the two days. Likely won't be back again. read more

WG stands for Wilshire Grand(Intercontinental Hotel) the new skyscraper that is now the tallest bldg west of the Mississippi. The Cafe is very average. I was looking to get out of the cold with a hot coffee and it was too drafty being near the sliding door front entrance. Prices are about double what Starbucks charges for similar quality. Service was below avg by an indifferent sounding staff who had never even ventured up to the 70th floor. The great part though is I enjoyed my coffee on the 70th floor with a fantastic view of LA(try almost the whole county). The 70th floor lobby is alot nicer but the ground floor cafe is a separate business. My advice is skip the Cafe and buy a drink on the 70th floor or the bar on the next floor up : ) read more

Latte ($4.25): my friend like her latte. Cappuccino ($4.00): full-bodied, good quality coffee. I kinda liked it. Krofn of Malibu ($4.25): light, airy, slightly too sweet on the outside, but kinda good. The service was semi rude. The girl made eye contact, ignored us and walked away when we were at the register. She came back after a while and acted like she didn't want to be there. I came back again for the second time and the service was so different. The worker was happy, helpful and actually nice. can i give negative stars? So new place opened up near work and I was eager to find. On my way I got lost and found this disappointing place. I have been charged 13.71 for one muffin and one martinellis apple juice. I inquired and they "overcharged" me I put it in quotes because based on the low flow of customers they had not sure if a mistake, The juice should have been 5.70!!! Cool except this juice retails for between 2 and 3 dollar. Beyond me how they markup so much. Anywho hopefully ill see my refund very soon. I also got the hava chocolate muffin which if you like really sweet things with no chocolate flavor then go for it. My friends just told me about this place and I'm so glad I have another coffee option that is walking distance from my office! Their iced mocha is absolutely delicious. I tried the mixed fruit waffle the other day and it was just alright...nothing to write home about. It came with strawberries, blueberries, and sides of whipped cream, butter, and syrup. Just walked to this place. When you enter, it feels like your walking into luxury. The ambiance was so welcoming and peaceful. I think I'd go back for that alone! Well, for the coffee too! My friend and I both got the honey vanilla lattes, mine with whole milk and hers with almond milk. We both loved it! They're sweet, but good sweet and nice and hot coffee! They also had a lavender matcha latte which I am looking forward to trying next time! We also both got the pistachio scones - those were not our favorite because it didn't have much pistachio flavor. Prices are what you would expect, $4-$5 per latte, $8 an avocado toast.... given the high reviews I was very excited, others had written luxury as an adjective to describe this cafe - I disagree. It is essentially a coffee bean located in the hotel lobby with a decent sitting area (no comfy chairs though! Just a few high tops and small tables). The service was fast but nothing great/especially outstanding. The baristas are polite but will not go the extra mile for anything - ie when I mentioned the map issue the cashier told me dead pan that it wasn't her problem and she didn't care/see any issue with it.... I ordered a honey vanilla latte and a spinach quiche - total was about $11-12 and took about 8 min. Quality was good, but by no means outstanding. Yesterday, I ordered an iced tea and it came with a METAL SCREW inside my drink! When I brought it back, the manager apologized... then remade my drink using the same ice bin that the screw came from. I have no idea what kind of poisonous contaminant could have been in that screw, or how many other people's drinks had that dirty ice in there too.
