On a chill day in Sintra we stopped for a late lunch. Perfect choice. We has cerviche sea bass. Perfect marinade and fresh salad. A palate delight. We had chorizo which they flame finish at the table. A little crisp on the outside. Not to spicy. We also had Alheira. Looks like falafel. Great taste. No idea. I would order it again in a minute. Since it was cold and my feet were chill we ate on the glassed patio with overhead heating. Nice and cozy. I had hot chocolate. OMG. My palate is still singing More like warm pudding. So good. This restaurant was decent, but there aren't many options in the area. The staff is friendly. I had a shrimp pasta and it was ok. The pasta was a bit overcooked and the shrimp was softer than most other shrimp ive had. Overall, there isnt much good or bad about this place, its quite average. read more

A big tourist spot most people hit up after visiting the castle near by. We sat there mainly for the view and just to get a drink but even the orange juice was overpriced for the size we got. Service was awful which was expected with it being in a tourist area. read more

We had a wonderful lunch on the patio of the Cafe Paris. Our server Paula was so helpful and made great suggestions. I enjoyed the turbo and my partner had the linguine and claims with the most delicious fresh clams. We also enjoyed the deserts and coffee and its a great spot to watch the busy the plaza and spend the perfect afternoon. Will return tomorrow for dinner and another great meal! read more

We stopped here while visiting some of the castkes in the area. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the options on the menu. We started as we have many times on this trip with iberico ham, then Portuguese steak, duck risotto, and for dessert tiramisu. The iberico ham as always was freshly sliced and simply delicious. The Portuguese steak was topped with thin sliced pork belly and a light sauce. It was very tasty and I would highly suggest it. The duck risotto was actually mushroom risotto topped with sliced duck breast. It also came with a side of freshly made potato chips which is very common in Portugal. Niki is happy to report that it was divine. The tiramisu confused me at first, it came in a chocolate shell with cream on top. Once your fork breaks that chocolate shell it is filled with the goodness a lover of tiramisu craves. This is a must try dessert. Give it a go and you eill be so happy you did. read more

This was one of the only places that opened before noon for lunch so we thought we'd give it a try. That turned out to be a good decision as the food was really tasty. The spaghetti bolognese was delicious and the salad with a goat cheese topped crouton hit the spot. I ordered a sangria and it was served in a glass that was about 18 inches high and had lots of fruit. It was also delicious! As is typical in Portugal, we were first served some bread and cheese and olives - which was perfect to tide us over until the food arrived. The restaurant has lots of windows that look out on the square and it was clean and bright. I would recommend Cafe Paris to anyone visiting Sintra. read more

Had been visiting the Pana palace and stopped in Sintra for lunch. Cafe Paris is in a hotel in the main square. Just had French onion soup, small and just ok. Also a salad with cheese but the cheese was separate on the side, also small. Way overpriced but caters to tourists. read more

Only had 30 minutes and stopped here for drinks and had the queijada de sintra (egg custard), which was way better than the one we had in Lisbon, and pastel de nata. The Irish coffee was quite good and the 60 cl beers impressively large. A bit pricey, but great service and tasty treats so worth it for us. read more

The restaurant is well located and attracts a lot of tourists. The menu has pictures of the plates. The pork with chili peanut came out with dried pork on a cutting board with no sides, no chili and barely edible. The sea bream was delicious and lacked sides. The wait staff was busy but inattentive. The bathrooms were clean. Skip this place and walk to the square where you can eat tapas and listen to local musicians instead of sitting next to your neighbors smelling their cigarette smoke. Overpriced. Poor service. TOURIST TRAP!! BEWARE BEFORE GOING: A Disappointing Dining Experience BETTER RESTAURANTS FURTHER UP THE STREET This was unequivocally the worst dining experience my family and I have ever had. We arrived around 1:10 PM and were the first guests seated in our section. However, we didn't receive our food until 3 PM, despite the area filling up with five other tables, and we were the last to leave. Even tables with fewer guests experienced significant delays. Similar to other diners, we were asked if we wanted bread, to which we agreed. However, we were surprised to be served two plates of olives and two plates of cheese in addition to the bread. It seems the restaurant's practice is to serve dishes that customers didn't request, relying on the fine print in the menu to justify charging for them. A person in our table also ordered water, and they brought waters for all of us despite us not getting that as drinks. My mother sought clarification about whether a side dish was included with our main course, as indicated at the top of the menu ("CHOOSE THE MAIN DISH AND YOUR SIDE DISH"). We interpreted this to mean that once we selected our main dish, we could then choose our side dish. However, when we double-checked with the server, we were assured that the side dish was included. Despite this assurance, we were charged for the side dish at the end. We attempted to address this discrepancy with the server, but ended up paying, assuming it was just a miscommunication. Before leaving, we decided to express our concerns directly to the staff rather than leaving a negative review, as we didn't want to harm their business. However, when we approached the server, she became defensive and rude. She claimed she had informed us about the cheese, and insinuated that we were the only ones to complain about being served and charged for unrequested items. When I explained that English is not always literal, and that the wording from "THE main dish" to "your side dish" could be interpreted differently, she scoffed and replied, "OH I know English, but you need to understand that if you order a product or service you have to pay for..." When that is not what we were trying to discuss with her at all, but just stating in addition to that you shouldn't have to pay for a service/product you didn't order. In conclusion, we simply wanted to communicate that the slow service was unacceptable and that their menu could be misinterpreted by customers. While we don't mind paying for side dishes due to miscommunication, the additional charges for unrequested items were unjustifiable. We hope the restaurant addresses these issues to prevent similar experiences for future patrons. read more

I ordered cod and it was so over cooked and dry that it was hard to chew. I sent it back to be replaced by chicken breast, and the chicken breast was very over cooked and dry. Our waiter was very pleasant but apparently his shift ended without his having mentioned to us that he would be leaving and (fill in the blank) would be taking care of us. Unfortunately, the restaurant we'd intended to go to for dinner, which was highly rated, was not serving until 7. It was 6 and we were hungry, and we'd remembered seeing Paris so we went here without checking its ratings. Went here with a large group and were able to be seated at three different tables out on the patio. The patio seating was perfect on a sunny summer day in Sintra. For my meal, I decided to go with the salmon. I was not expecting much, as this place seemed like a bit of a tourist trap due to its location, but I was pleasantly surprised with a wonderfully cooked piece of salmon. And apparently I was not the only one that was impressed as most of my other dining companions also enjoyed their meals. Overall, this place is right in the center of town and cooks up some decent food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you can snag a table outside. read more

I knew it was a tourist trap, but I didn't know they were the type to take advantage of tourists. Only go here if you a) are willing to be charged for items you didn't order, and b) are willing to be an exorbitant bill for terribly mediocre food. We ordered the cheese plate and were given two extra cheese (NOT requested) and charged for both. We were also charged for bread and for butter that we did not order (yes, even the butter had its own fee). DO NOT GO. After a long day we were so happy to eat here. The food was amazing, I had the crispy duck over africian pasta with a lovely reduction. It has been almost a month since we were there so I cant remember the other dishes we had (went back the next day) sorry. I remember savoring the dishes looking across the town and feeling content. The food was ok, nothing to write home about though. In a tourist trap place so it was a bit more expensive, but that was to be expected. Service however, was pretty awful. We had ordered 2 baguettes and one plate of sardines. 1 baguette arrived. 10 minutes later the sardines arrived. 10 minutes later my baguette arrived. We had the gambas shrimps, sardines, mushroom risotto and foie gras. Sardines were moist and flavorful. Good food and nice outdoor areas - choose between the street side outdoor area or the Terrance on the second floor in the back. The Terrance is lovely on a sunny day with views of the castle and Sintra. Staff is very nice and their menu covers most appetites. Interesting elevator jazz music but it puts you in the vacation/relaxation mode. read more
