Was able to try some baklava there so decided on a pound of that (about $10 total) and their ice cream cake (mini ones are $7). Baklava is freshly made there and not as sweet as store bought ones. I also returned same day to get another mini ice cream cake for my husband and he loved it. They also have large ones too. They have other cakes too like fruit tarts or smaller cakes and they were priced around $25 and more as they get larger. By far, the worse cake I have had from a bakery. Apparently the young lady who sold the cake said it was her first time writing a name in the cake. It was messy. (Usually can be forgiven but, why would a company allow someone not to be professionally trained?!) The cake was on a golden cake plate, which was also a mess. It looks as if someone used a paper towel to wipe excess cream from the plate, smudge and sticky. Overall presentation is a 2. The chocolate cake was dry, little moisture came from the whip cream. As for the whipped cream peaks and cream around the cake, it seemed dry. Reason for believing this, the chocolate around the cake crumbled when the plastic cover was taken off; as if the whipped cream dried out and pulled away from the chocolate. It was visible that the cake was not touching the chocolate when cut. The surrounding chocolate was unsweetened and very bitter chocolate. The "chocolate" whip cream just tasted like sugar. There was a thin chocolate ganache on top, which helped a little. The cake was not sweet, just like cocoa powder for color. Finally, what should have been two layer cake seemed like only one cake cut in half, and filled with 75% "chocolate" whip cream. What made the whole thing horrible was the fact that THIS was my son's FIRST chocolate cake. He literally said "Momma, I don't like this kind of chocolate!". This cake was also pushed away by my niece (2.5) and nephew (6), who came to celebrate. We always try to buy from local businesses rather than chain stores. However this left a very bad experience for my family. I wish I could take this cake back and get a refund. read more
