0 STARS!!! Absolutely disgusted by the way this pediatric office treated my best friend after she literally JUST gave birth. A woman who was FIVE DAYS POSTPARTUM called to schedule her newborn daughter's first appointment and instead of compassion, professionalism, or basic human decency, she was interrogated and invalidated because she's married to a woman. After explaining that she and her wife are BOTH the baby's mothers, she was repeatedly placed on hold and then told she would need "permission" from her wife to bring HER OWN CHILD to appointments or consent to medical care. They even told her adoption paperwork would eventually be required -- despite the fact that she carried and delivered this baby herself and BOTH parents are legally listed on the birth certificate. Imagine being hormonal, exhausted, physically recovering from childbirth, trying to take care of your newborn, and having a medical office basically tell you that you aren't recognized as your child's real parent. It is ignorant. It is discriminatory. It is unacceptable. No family should ever be treated this way, especially by people working in healthcare. LGBTQ+ families deserve the same respect and recognition as everyone else, and the fact that this office made a new mother cry during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life is beyond unprofessional. Do better. Train your staff. Learn the law. And stop traumatizing new parents. read more

Great Doctors terrible front office staff and policies. We have going to Dr. Vargas since 2005, we recently switched from one UHC plan to a different one and they call me and tell me that they can't see my child today bc they don't take that UHC plan. They didn't even give me a cash price option to keep my appointment, she just wanted to cancel it, leaving me to run to an urgent care instead. What kind of service is that, especially after 3 kids over 20 years? read more

Dr.Vargas is AMAZING It was our first time seeing Dr.Vargas but both my daughter and I LOVED him. We absolutely loved the way he broke things down for us and explained how the bacteria was reacting inside of her. I love this office! The waiting areas are separated by well and sick which is such a relief especially for those with newborns or young kids. Kaci Travers is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. So I can have one kid who's been a long time patient come and half refuse vaccines but I can't let my second child come as a new patient if they're not fully vaccinated.. that doesn't make any sense, as a long time patient of theirs I am very frustrated at their policy. Let me say that the PHYSICIANS ARE WONDERFUL...but the front office staff is terrible. It's easy to schedule and appointment but the information is hardly correct. I have 5 kids I bring here so I dont want to waste my time. They have messed up so many times when my insurance will pay for well visits - I try to schedule so as to eliminate trips to/from the office and not I therefore with school. We have shown up and they said "sorry we can't see this child yet". Get it right before I get there!!I had a bill of $3.50 for a strep test, and wasn't allowed to schedule until it was paid. Why could this not have been collected upon the the next visit? It's $3.50, I have 5 kids, I will be in the office again! Also I made an appointment and wanted to know if I would be changed an office visit. No one was competent enough to give me a YES OR NO, just "you shouldn't be". This is your job to know this as a front office person, and give this customer service, otherwise I'll go to the minute clinic where it's free through my insurance. In addition, if a school or other entity needs records for your child, expect to jump through HOOPS OF FIRE. Things happen, confirm my identity, send me an email or phone call co firming who I am! Nope! It's extremely complicate and of course they just blame it on it being "a violation of HIPPA". This is untrue as I work in the healthcare industry. Identity can be confirmed in other ways, but they CHOOSE other pathways to make it very challenging for families. But the most frustrating thing is that for EVERY and I mean EVERY visit, you are required to fill out THE SAME INFORMATION OVER AND OVER AGAIN, consent to treat, update info, upload card, etc. Seriously the electronic system is supposed to make it easier, and if my info has changed, I'll tell you! Yet there is no one to complain to because the office doesn't do anything about it. Again, the front office has made a huge shift since COVID, PCP's are excellent, but they get on my LAST NERVE. Only thing didnt like maybe was I felt a bit clueless as a new parent and wasnt given a ton of info like a pamphlet or something on the basics or just parenting 101 talk idk lol. We see dr navarrette regularly but have seen every dr In the office over the years and they truly listen to every concern and have never dismissed me. They take such great care of my sweet boy who is special needs. They've always gone above and beyond to make sure he has every referral, service, and treatment he needs, always providing him with extra time. Thank you CCC family for taking care of our boy! Other than Kaci Travers we have not had a good experience with this office. Staff is very cold, transactional and sometimes flat out rude. For a pediatric office there is no "love" shown. I found myself walking my kids through things since the doctor was all but silent during appointments. Our breaking point is that they forcing masks on kids who are healthy. Not only is it unnecessary it's also simply inappropriate and abusive. Working with parents on masks when kids are sick are one thing but denying care to kids who are not sick for wellness treatments if they don't put a mask forcefully on their face is inexcusable. If you're looking for a trusted doctor who join you as a parent in keeping your kid healthy and happy, I promise you this is not your team. read more

This has been my children's Dr since the day they were born. We arrived at our appointment time and pretty much taken right in. We maybe waited 10 minutes if that. The front office gals were very nice. When we were called back the nurse was really nice and patient as well. I love how each room is themed different. We were in the "Cars" room. The kids primary Dr is Jason Vargas and he has been great! Really all of the Drs we have had are amazing here. The kids were just there for their well check so I didn't mind who it was with. We saw Dr Fisher at this particular appointment. She is very friendly and loves talking to the kids and getting to know them. I loved that she was asking them questions instead of me. Kids are their own person especially at 9 & 10 and I like for them to be able to express themselves and ask questions if they have any. I have nothing but positive things to say about this office and the staff. We will continue to come here for as long as we can. Thank you! read more

I had a wonderful experience going to Cactus Children's Clinic. I scheduled a meet & greet while pregnant and that's how I met Dr. Kay Navarrette. I knew she would be our child's doctor. My daughter was born in Dec. 2017, but sadly passed away at 18 days old. Dr. Navarrette was so kind, patient, and had a wonderful bedside manner. When I became pregnant with my son in 2018, I knew she would be his doctor as well. She remembered our sweet daughter and was so understanding of what happened and knew we would be a little more of the "concerned" parent and may ask more questions or request specific tests. She spent extra time with us and answered any questions we had. We appreciate all she has done for our family and the way she has treated us. The appointment schedulers and office staff have been very friendly as well. read more

My kids have been coming here since their births. While in the hospital for both kids in 2012 and 2015, the Clinic has sent 3 to 4 of their doctors to visit me and the kids every day I was there. They took their time to explain different things and answer all my silly questions and always left me in a reassured positive state before leaving. As the kids are growing, I've been bringing them here for their regular check ups and occasional sick visits. Yes, I agree with other reviews that the wait times can be outrageous. I think the longest I've waited was an hour past my appointment time for a sick visit with my youngest. He was still an infant at the time of visit so I don't know if they didn't have other doctors who specialized in young babies? I think this is true with all doctors' offices - your wait time will often be longer than the actual doctor visit. Over the years, I think I've seen all the doctors on staff and my main one now is Dr. Fisher. They are all excellent doctors - kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I never felt rushed with any of them. Sometimes I would leave messages on their voicemail for non-urgent matters and someone always calls back within a couple of hours. If you state that you have an urgent issue, they will call back sooner as they return calls in the order of importance/urgency. A drawback to me is how the office staff can hound you for payments. There were a couple of times where we deferred some payments and they wouldn't let me schedule an appointment until it was paid. It was frustrating as it would sometimes take months for a new charge to appear and we would not know. read more

Bad experience: for three months my son was only gaining 2-3 oz a week and I was nursing him every hour, 24 hrs. I asked both Dr Vargas and Dr Michaels if he had a tongue tie and they said no. Those "aren't a thing". I struggled. Cried. Felt so much pain and worry. Finally I saw an independent lactation consultant who identified a tongue tie in two minutes, sent me to Agave to have it revised, and the next day my son gained 2oz. He continued to 8oz a week gains immediately and after dropping from the 99th percentile in weight to the 2nd, he started climbing back up. I have Agave to thank for saving my nursing relationship with my baby, and Cactus to blame for 3 months of despair and growth problems. Their attitude; just give him formula. So, if you aren't interested in breastfeeding, I think Cactus is fine. If you do want to breastfeed, Agave is a better choice. Side note: Vargas did my son's circumcision and did a good job. So added star for that. read more

We have been going to Cactus Children's Clinic since 2010 and we love every single person there. The front office, the back office, the nurses, the Doctors. I just wanted to write a review and to thank them for being so accommodating during this pandemic. Their rooms are very clean, the waiting room is not being used and appointments are very spaced out. Not only has my son been going here since he was born but I also went to Cactus Childrens as a child. Unfortunately when I called the other day about the onset of an infection my son was having I was pushed off to the side and told that it sounded superficial. Nothing was done by Cactus Childrens or his primary doctor to help. Not even eight hours later we were in the ER with a severely sick child that was almost taken into surgery in the middle of the night. This negligence and inability to follow through like a primary doctor should in a situation like that is enough for me to not wanna go there anymore. My son was in excruciating pain and scared and it could have been avoided had Cactus Childrens seen my son that day while they were open when I called. It was an extremely poor judgment call and my son suffer for it. The choice that was made by Cactus Childrens was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I am still absolutely appalled and thoroughly disappointed in the ignorance. read more

We just moved to the area & with the good reviews, I decided to try this office despite it being 20 miles from our home. First impression: a small, fluorescent blue waiting room with a large TV blaring some animated movie & office ladies who couldn't be bothered to lift the edges of their mouth to fake a smile. We arrived 10 minutes early to fill out paper work & waited an additional 15 minutes after our appointment time. 3 others who arrived after us were seen first- maybe because we were new? Then we waited some more-first about 15 minutes to get measurements and another 15 minutes to see Dr. Ojha, who was friendly but not very informative. Our small amount of time with her felt rather pointless. She told me I could start feeding my child solids, and she was barely 5 months at the time of the appointment. "You can introduce meats," was one of the comments made, and somehow I don't think my baby is ready to go from breast milk to meat, but that's just me. She didn't inquire about any of her development; introducing solid food was the only topic she brought up. Granted, this is my second child and I'm a confident parent, but it felt so arbitrary and pointless! Am I really supposed to guide the doctor through my child's pediatric appointment with questions? We waited yet another 15 minutes to get immunizations! That's over an hour of waiting total for the most trivial medical care either one of my children have received. Because we were waiting so long my toddler was pulling open drawers and they were filthy inside. I will be so happy to maybe one day find a pediatrician who values keeping clean rooms?! The only positive of this experience was the male assistant who was friendly and gave the fastest injections I've ever seen in my life. Kudos to you sir. read more

If your child has a serious health condition don't trust these people. They sweep everything under the rug. My daughter has chronic flare ups and it only got worse after her MMR shot. Come to find out she's allergic to eggs. The doctors (we seen may here) all said to use otc items and oh it will go away. They also said there is no way it can be food related. That not what our dermatologist said or our naturopathic doctor. Do your self a favor if you feel like something isn't right. Google it and find a specialist. These people just collect money, herd you through and administer vaccines. They never gave us the time we needed. This office came highly recommended. Wanted to share my experience to warn others. Great doctors, nurses, and staff. I have never had any problems getting an appointment, even same day appointments.

The staff is good, but expect an hour wait minimum. I've been bringing my kids here for years and the wait has gotten out of control. The last three times we have been, the typical wait is 30mins in the main lobby and another 30 to 40 in the patient room. I feel like this is a long time to keep kids waiting. I would expect longer waits if your child is sick, but these visits have been for shots and well checks. These appointments were also scheduled way in advance. read more

Social Injustice... this clinic denied access to my very sick children despite the fact that we have excellent private health coverage with blue cross. once they found out that my children were adopted and had the option to use state insurance. they bturned them away and refunded my $30 co payment. We have never used the state insurance nor did we plan on using it. The system is broken and this clinic is part of the problem . childrens lives and health matter over profit. Our family has had terrific experiences with both staff and doctors at Cactus Children's Clinic. I have known the staff for years and they have gone above and beyond for my kids. I will never forget the day my son behaved so poorly for a flu shot that I made him write an apology note. The nurse handled it well during the incident and even better in response to my son's letter. The nurse wrote him back a handwritten note telling my son how brave he was for getting the shot and how there were no hard feelings. Apology accepted. That made it a lot easier for my son to go back for that next appointment. The staff and doctors have been great partners in providing exceptional healthcare for our kids and I value their insights and advise in keeping our kids healthy. read more

Wonderful office! I just took my son here for his 2 year well baby check up. This was our first time here so I had quite a bit of paper work to fill out and they were calling us back before i even finished the first page!! This was a pleasant surprise especially for a Dr office. We had Dr. Fisher and she was fantastic. Answered all of our questions and was patient with my son who has become a little afraid of Dr's since he had his tonsils out and was poked and prodded. Huge bonus: They had Nemo on, which kept little one distracted. Highly recommend! read more

If you don't return a phone call from them immediately, expect the police dept to show up at your house to do a child welfare check. I'm absolutely ticked. Will never take my kids there again. They sent me home with a list of docs to call for an allergist and when I didn't respond to the one and only phone call from them they call police?!??? That's insane and completely unnecessary. ***Edited 5/20/16***** For the last year, each time we have had to bring our children to the office we make it a point to arrive a few minutes before our scheduled check in time (which is 15 minutes before the actual appointment). Each time, and i'd guesstimate we've been there 6 times in the last 12 months at varying hours of the day, we have had to wait sometimes up to 45 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. While there are several physicians in the practice we haven't seen our appointed physician in over a year. The last time we were in here the physician threw a ton of excuses for the wait and rather than apologize and move on--it was all about the excuses. Because of the excessive wait times there we have moved our children to another practice. Very pleased with this office! I went here as a kid,and when I had my son 6 months ago I had to take him here. The office staff is wonder and Dr. Michael is the best!!! read more

My daughter has been coming here since she was born 2008. Almost every experience had been great here for her. She originally started with Cynthia Jaqumart who is no longer there. However, since she left the staff and doctors have been great. Only issue we had was will billing for bills that have no relation to my daughter. She has a half sibling that is younger from her fathers side and they tried to tell us they wouldn't see my child until the bill was paid for the sibling!!! I had to show documents to show the two had no financial or maternal responsibility. Which was annoying just because they had the same father and I have sole custody with my now husband of my daughter. But after I provided documentation showing this all was well. But the billing system is a little broken. Other than that the quality of care has been great! I give 4 stars just because of the nightmare of documents I had to give to fix a billing issue that had nothing to do with our family. read more

Dr. Kay Navarrette has been our pediatrician for the last 5 Years. Our triplets had a very exciting and scary start to life. Being a brand new mom was overwhelming and Dr. Navarrette always took extra time to reassure me and ask several questions so that she was able to provide the most useful information. We have been sent to a variety of specialists due to having multiple premature babies. She was always thorough and quick to find us a doctor who specialized in what we needed. Dr. Navarrette has a warm spirit and truly demonstrates great care for her patients. We would hands down recommend her to anyone looking for a pediatrician. Thank you Dr. Navarrette! read more

I've been going here for about 6 years, three of which I've seen Dr. Fisher. I love her she is great. What I don't love and what you will see as a theme is the rest of the reviewers is the information on the rest of the staff and office. I don't know if they got a new office manager, but let me tell you the service SUCKS!! I spent 45 mins on the phone left a detailed message on why I need to schedule an appointment for a sick visit. I missed the nurses call (they have blocked numbers, I get it). I call them back and tell them everything again, only to be "triaged" and have to be called back... again . When I get another call, I tell them, nothing has changed, I left a message and spent 15 mins telling the person why I needed an appointment. I was told that the office manager had a policy that they only schedule sick appointments for the next day in the morning. Not afternoon because of COVID.... Because covid only happens in the afternoon?? I don't know all the ridiculous office policies this manager is coming up with, but let me tell you, your phone systems being down and broken, rude and un trained and not knowledge staff is what continues to drop your ratings. The doctors are great, and I've recommended Dr Fisher to all my mom friends .... But I am seriously considering switching pediatricians.
