I went to get my hair done by Erica, who is an amazing stylist. My hair color and extensions were perfect. Erica is great because she is clear and concise. My previous stylist wrote out my formula which I provided to the stylist at Roots during a consultation where I was assured that they could keep my hair consistent with what my previous stylist had done. Despite the fact that they had the formula, they took (what i percieved to be) short cuts to get me in and out faster (I have a fashion color and while I know its time consuming to do it right, I'm paying upwards of $200 to come to you, if you don't want to take the time to do what the formula is explicitly explaining for you to do, then cool, let me know that and we'll part ways on good terms). I gave them chance after chance to get it right but it became clear it wasn't going to happen. At one point a darker color was put on my roots without okaying it with me first (i absolutely did not want that), another time my roots were made even lighter than the rest of my hair, effectively giving me hot roots. I eventually gave up and went to a new stylist/salon, gave her the same formula from my original stylist and my hair came out like it always used to before going to Roots. I'm more than willing to work with a stylist to fine tune things but it was clear that they either didn't understand how to work with the color or were just set on taking short cuts to save on time, which is fine, but then the service is not going to be worth the amount of money your asking me to pay.

When Stacy finished my trim (shampoo+ trim, NO blowout, NO product-- the appointment lasted 20 minutes total) and brought me to the front desk, the receptionist told me it will be $65 and asked what tip I wanted to add. I respectfully pushed back a bit, pointing out to her that I did not get a blowout/product and that their website states that women's cuts start at $43. The receptionist told me that there was a price change at the beginning of the year and it all depends on who your stylist is.... Im just bummed because the price change was not reflected on the website, and I did not have a choice on who my stylist was. I suppose this is a more exclusive salon, but I do hope that they fix their website to reflect their actual pricing. $78 gone. Lesson Learned.
