Our family previously worked with Cabot & Sons and considered using them once again. In my experience interacting with Cabot and Sons Funeral Home after our mother passed away, they provided professional and compassionate services. The delays mentioned in my sister's review were non-consequential in the end. Chris worked with me throughout the process. He completed the death certificate based on information I collected, sent me a draft for final review, and sent it to the county health department by the deadline. After cremation, our mother lingered longer than planned at the funeral home, as she had often done in life. I was busy with other things and did not contact Cabot to confirm that her ashes had been transported to the cemetery in another state. Fortunately, Chris identified the delay and called me. She has now arrived at her final resting place in good time. I found Cabot and Sons staff to be hard-working, understanding, flexible, and kind. My dad unexpectedly passed away the last week of December 2023. When my sister and I got to my parents' house, the paramedics had already left and the Pasadena Police were there. We weren't sure on next steps and the officer recommended we try calling Cabot & Sons. They picked up right away and told us they would be on their way to the house. The three of us ended up heading over there a few hours later to discuss what we wanted to do. Everyone was very kind and patient and assisted my mom with necessary paperwork. My friend spoke to Cabot four times and asked to let them know when their loved one would be cremated and when they could pick up the cremains,and to set aside some personal items. Well, they gave conflicting dates as to the cremation, and they had to keep calling to confirm when to get his cremains. When they arrived, they learned he had been cremated with the personal items, and then lied and said there had been no phone calls -- and my friend showed them the times of the four phone calls from his phone records. Losing a loved one is never easy. I highly recommend Cabot & Sons to help you during this difficult time. My sister passed away unexpectedly and I knew Cabot & Sons were the people I would call. My family had used their services before and we were always appreciative of their help. However, this time they went above and beyond their duties. My sister passed away late at night in Pasadena. I called Cabot & Sons and they were able to retrieve my sister's body quickly and respectfully. I appreciated that they gathered most of the information they needed from the Sheriff and just needed me to confirm everything was correct on the form. They offered their condolences and I was comforted in knowing my sister was safe in their care until I was ready to move on to the next step. Before my appointment at the funeral home, I researched Cabot & Son's website. They had a general price list so I can go over their services. This was really helpful as it gave me an idea of what I was going to be able to do to help my sister. A few days later, I was lucky enough to meet Ryan at the funeral home. I expected to put on a brave face, sign paperwork and leave. However, Ryan helped me personalize a viewing that my sister would have approved. He offered wonderful advice that showed me he really cared about honoring my sister's life. For example, he said to pick shoes my sister would like even if it was a pair of home slippers. Ryan also gave tips on what her final outfit should be to make her most presentable. He also suggested placing something in her casket that's meaningful to her. Ryan also helped me pick flowers for her casket that fit her personality. He also let me know that cremations need to be in a wooden box if I will be traveling with them on an airplane overseas. Ryan also helped me make sure the montage video worked properly a few days before the viewing. He also recommended Deacon Ron to speak at the viewing. The reason I am most thankful for Ryan is the way he was able to handle a disagreement among family members. Ryan offered possible solutions to our dilemma. He went above and beyond his duties to try to make the resolution a reality. I know Ryan was doing everything in his power to help respect my sister's wishes. At the end of it all, Ryan was able to resolve the dilemma and he really saved the day. Thanks to Ryan, my sister will be able to rest in peace. On the day of the viewing, Christopher and Lucas were so kind and helpful during the whole process. Christopher offered to let us borrow nice baskets to place some individually wrapped tissues. I brought the tissues in a Mickey Mouse plastic container that was not appropriate. I probably didn't need to bring tissues because there were some in the pews that were provided by the funeral home. Lucas was kind enough to log my iPad onto their wifi so that I could Facebook Live Stream to the family and friends in the Philippines. Christopher also helped me with some last minute requests. For example, my aunt told me the rosary my sister was holding needed to be cut for superstitious reasons. Mr. Cabot helped me find the gold necklace my sister always wore around her neck. I didn't know if my sister had it at the time of her death. I thought it was gone but the funeral home was able to locate it. I would also like to mention their facilities are very nice and clean. Everything from the viewing room to the conference room to the banquet room to the bathrooms to the parking lot provided a warm ambiance. A few days after the viewing, I met with Ryan to finalize payment and pick up the death certificates. I always appreciated Ryan calling and updating me every step of the way. Ryan would call to make sure we had everything ready for my sister and he even asked about my newborn baby. I was under so much stress but I honestly felt relief when I saw a call from Ryan. If you need a helping hand during a difficult time, I highly recommend you reach for Ryan and the staff at Cabot & Sons. It seems like people are passing away left and right . Here is a little bit Of advice from your friend Crystal, if somebody mean something to you please speak on their behalf. Don't be worried about crying in front of people that doesn't matter ! Tell the stories tell the jokes tell the good times . Nothing is worse than planning on saying some thing getting nervous and not doing it. Living with regret sucks. A constant state of looking in the mirror and reenacting what you were gonna say every time we're in the car alone. IT SUCKS ! Never again. If I love you, I'm gonna tell everybody, even if I make a fool out of myself and cry. In this situation My ex boyfriend of seven years Boris ! Do I have some stories to tell ! I was not gonna leave without saying my piece. As an extra precaution, I figured out that if I got there first I wouldn't be nervous. That way people had to get comfortable with me not the other way around. So by the time it came to the talking part I already knew everybody . Soon we all started filling up the viewing room. A little intro and then it was open mic. Please come up and tell stories of Boirs. Couple ex girlfriends hairdresser and 2 best friend. Now I'm waiting for my brothers& six other friends to show up . I keep sending text messages hurry! Without no warning, the man from the mortuary says let's keep talking about Boirs. He says a poem, and then he says that the service is over. What ???? He could've warned me and said, is there anybody else who wants to talk cause I would've said me! Immediately, I sent text messages to his daughter. Hey, I didn't get to go up. She gets on the microphone and Thanks, everybody for coming . Well, I wasn't taking no for an answer it's not over till I say it's over!!!!!! I immediately walked up there and said I know it's over but I got some stuff to say ! This man spoiled me more than anybody in my whole life. It was seven years of giving me everything that I wanted. Taking care of my family my brothers all my dogs. If anybody had amazing things to say about Boirs, it's definitely me. I know when you get up there. You're so nervous ! I learned from a Actor friend to stop and take time for yourself to adjust. Don't rush through it. It's your time you make the pace . Trying to slow the situation from stopping so that my brothers can make it. Finally, I see all of them coming .They were able to see the end of my speech . I sat down and looked at my brother . Go up now because it's over. My brother would go up and hit it right out of the ballpark. Somebody told us yeah you can tell you guys are related the Godoy's just have Pazzaz ! Anything for Boirs. Then a year after they were supposed to have sent her ashes to a cemetery out of state, we were informed that our mother's ashes were at Cabot "longer than permitted." No one ever wants to do a Yelp search for a mortuary, but I found myself doing that very thing three weeks ago when my father passed away. I called Cabot & Sons and David answered the phone. He made the process very simple and I found the pricing to be reasonable. We ended up doing a basic cremation and scattered the ashes at sea using a company they referred, and it was all a very smooth process. Should've left a review a long time ago. 4 years ago a nasty cremation home left me helpless with my mom in a box separated from her urn saying they don't put the ashes inside for you??? I had no idea what to do I was in tears my family and I drove to here, Cabot and sons, and begged them for help. They gladly helped us and placed my mother's ashes inside of her urn and even inside of my necklace they were so kind and understanding no charge even I couldn't thank them enough. Being that it was for a child with cancer when trying to preplan I found many mortuaries were not comfortable but Cabot's did not hesitate when we called the morning of his passing. My gut told me to call them and it was the right choice. We had chosen to donate our sons tumor and blood and they helps us with transportation and it was all so organized. They were extremely communicative and friendly. His service was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so sensitive to the fact that it was a child. They allowed us to have beautiful decor and accommodated all our requests. Their chapel is beautiful and modern. They have lots of room and a great multimedia set up. My Brother in Law passed away unexpectedly at 46. My sister was not prepared financially. We made an appt. with Ryan Murphy to go over pricing. He handed us a packet, and when we were not ready to commit we were told to take some time. We were basically left to figure out the pricing off the packet. He did not seem interested in pulling up a computer to give us actual pricing on what we wanted or desired unless we were ready to commit. A few days later we visited Mountain View in Altadena. The woman there pulled out her computer was very professional in giving pricing. Today I decided to call Ryan to ask for pricing once again before making a final decision. My sister was not financially prepared for this expense and I did not think there was anything wrong in comparing prices. Ryan was completely rude, unprofessional and said he was not able to do that. In fact he knew we had visited MV. He voiced that In a situation like this they prefer not to stress the family. Cabot and Sons is one of (if not) the most professional businesses I have ever dealt with and our experience could not have been better. I lost my father unexpectedly in early April during the height of the COVID-19 situation, and while he passed due to other reasons, it was extremely difficult to make suitable arrangements. On the day he passed, our family had made multiple calls to several funeral homes in the area, and were devastated upon hearing that a small group (5) like ours could not be allowed to view the remains or be around for the memorial ceremony (only 1 family member was allowed).
