Renovating a kitchen sucks. Your house is a mess, it's stressful, and something will go wrong more…read morethan once. Things go over budget, timelines shift (sometimes by months as it did in our case), and you find yourself washing dishes in the bathtub cursing both the project and the contractors. The thing that makes all the difference is having the right team in your corner. We worked with CraftedWild, led by Kyle and supported by his awesome crew. While the renovation removed years off my life in stress, they helped us weather every storm, sometimes with very late-night therapy calls. What really stood out was their honesty and accountability. When things went sideways (including a few mistakes on their end), they owned it. No dodging, no blame games. They offered solutions professionally and fixed the problems. Kyle and his team were trustworthy, reliable, and truly cared about both the quality of the work and our experience throughout. They communicated clearly, offered great design guidance, and brought a level of craftsmanship that showed in every detail of the finished kitchen. In the end, it's not about a perfect, problem-free renovation--it's about having people you trust to get you through it. CraftedWild is that team. Highly, highly recommend.

They were patient with us and the process (after we fired our first contractor for leaving an open gas line after demolition, not getting permits, and other issues). Kyle and Kornel collaborated with the new contractor, measured, re-measured and measured again to make sure everything was perfect. And it is! We have a small kitchen, but they made us feel as if we were their biggest and most important customer, kind and super responsive. Even after the job was finished and fully paid for, they came back to address a small issue to limit a cabinet from hitting another cabinet adjacent to it when we opened it. Like I said, it's a small kitchen. Their attention to detail, patience, consideration & integrity is amazing! They took time to answer our questions and explain everything. To say we are very happy with our kitchen and CraftedWild is an understatement!

Ofer was patient, knowledgeable, and never pushy -- he took the time to walk us through our options and helped us feel confident in our decisions. We went with Orange Cabinetry, a more budget-friendly brand that Ofer endorsed in terms of quality and customer service. Even though there was a delay in stock (which we were informed about in advance), the team encouraged us to stick with the sage green color we really loved instead of settling for something else just to speed things up. I'm so glad we waited -- the cabinets are beautiful, well-built, and exactly what we wanted. We've gotten a ton of compliments. Planet Cabinets also helped us source Jeffrey Alexander hardware, and their support with sizing and quantities made that process easy. Overall, we felt informed, supported, and never rushed. Highly recommend Planet Cabinets if you're looking for a company that balances affordability with honest, thoughtful service.

We hired this company to build a custom fireplace / entertainment unit. What was supposed to be a…read more12 week project ended up taking 26 weeks total from deposit to finish. The delay was largely due to the first fireplace not complying with the contracted spec and not meeting the manufacturer's published clearance requirements. Instead of using cement board or non-combustible material for the fireplace face as specified in the original contract, they used "fire-rated" plywood. The dealer and manufacturer were adamant that this was unacceptable and posed a fire risk. This company told us they use this in other fireplaces, (even though their own contract spelled out cement board with tile for the face of the fireplace). After some back and forth and refusing to pay the balance of invoice, the company agreed to correct it. Unfortunately, the second time around the final tile job was not satisfactory. The jagged cut metal edges were higher than the trim piece and the work was sloppy. The exposed tile edge of the fireplace actually cut my finger when I touched it. When we asked Troy said he is not available and we need to work with his worker to resolve the issue. The project was delayed a couple more weeks because the worker didn't initially have the right tools and materials needed to replace the fireplace for the third time. We finally got our fireplace done correctly. The finished product looks great, but it took us not accepting the sub-standard first and second versions. Additionally, there were small details that we were disappointed in for this project. The stark white electrical outlets with no plate cover is not what we expected. With a custom black background for the TV, we expected these to be black so they blend in to the background and included a simple outlet plate. It was an easy fix so we did it ourselves. We were also disappointed that we incurred an additional $300 out of pocket for additional tile due to the company's mistakes on the first and second tile installation. The total cost of the project to include the fireplace was nearly $10K. We simply wanted something that reflected this premium price and wouldn't burn our house down. We eventually got there, but it took more time, money and personal involvement than we expected. Ultimately, the fireplace unit is worthy of a 4 or 5 star rating, but the process getting there bumps it down to just a 1 or 2 star.

Lakewood Countertops at Pearl Design Group came in at half the price of the store in St. Charles. Also, they explained why their process was better than the box stores. The counters looked amazing and were well done. They did have to redo the backsplashes because I needed them 1/4 inch taller than normal and someone misread the instructions, but they came and picked them up and fixed them and brought them back to me, so I can't complain!
