Can we please get rid of the people trying to sell you stuff IN THE STORE??? It's like, you're in there shopping, (probably going to drop some coin) and some overly cheerful person takes you off guard by saying hello. Then proceeds to ask you to come over to them (wha??). Like, no. I overheard this conversation at least 3x as I was shopping and could tell by the volume that this salesperson was getting close and I did NOT want to interact with this person. So I hauled ass out of the section I was shopping and left shortly thereafter. It's like double dipping-you already have customers in the door willingly, obviously there to buy or look for something, DONT put people on the floor to try get more from them (and by more, I don't just mean financially. If you are introverted, like myself, having a conversation with a stranger can be stress inducing. And shopping should not be that way. Target and Walmart , I'm looking at y'all too!! I arrived after they closed and departed before they opened, but Cabela's is still awesome because they allow RVers to stay in their parking lot overnight. That's pretty cool! Follow the signs to the RV parking area, put your vehicle between the lines and get some sleep. Overall store fine, review about the guys in the back selling the "bluegreen" vacation package. I just wanted to browse the store and kill some time after thanksgiving dinner. Me and my gf were approached by a fella selling what sounded like the best deal ever, they pay you $1 to go on the vacation! Yeah right. After saying I wasn't interested many times he calls out this second guy for a classic good cop bad cop tactic. The guys were nice at first but got a little attitude when I wasn't falling for their scheme. The Bass Pro Shop use to be Cabelas's. I visited the Bass Pro Shop for the first time, and I was impressed. This store is huge, I thought it was just a store for men. I had no idea that they have some thing for everybody. The big fireplace is really nice, I want to see it at Christmas. My visit was to look around, and my sister was looking for the vanilla fudge, but they no longer have it. I bought some candy, wax melts and some refrigerator magnets(I collect them). I enjoyed my first visit to the Bass Pro Shop, and the plan is to visit again soon. read more

I decided to go to Cabela's today to purchase a salt water rod and reel combo just in case I got the itch to go pier fishing on the coast. Just wanted to be ready. I'd never been to this store before and was quite amazed at their selection of fishing gear. I was also quite surprised at how helpful and knowledgeable the people were who worked there. There wasn't anything that they needed improvement on! Nothing! I'd already been to Academy in Spartanburg S.C. This morning and found their fishing gear was pretty much depleted. Their were no salt water rod and reel combos anywhere! Not even one! I actually felt like I got a good deal today at Cabela's ! You know that's what great, well trained employees do! They provide customers with a tremendous shopping experience that makes them want to come back ! I know that I intend to return the next time I get a yearning to go fishing! Well done Cabela's! Although a bigger Cabela's it doesn't cut it , some of the smaller stores have more of the stuff you really go in to get . This store has a lot of fluff stuff they sell and not much of the stuff you really want . Only had 1 staff even talk to us and it was briefly - he was nice Prices here are higher then everywhere else since Cabela's sold out . Truth be told I use to absolutely love Cabela's but now after being sold off it's a real downer . Hope they can fix what they have broke and get back to being a great store once again read more

I made an appointment so my kids can take a pic with santa. We didn't wait long at all. We also got a free pic to take out. The people in the wonderland shop were super friendly and great with the kids. We were able to walk around afterwards and this store is just huge. The aquarium in the back was nice to see and my daughter really liked it. The store is really organized and well stocked. It's definitely a little something for everyone. read more

Grumpiest Santa ever. Drove down for the baby's first Santa photo. Santa didn't even say a word to us. I know we have a baby but you would think he could act the Santa part. Didn't ask her name, what she wanted for Xmas, say she is cute. No holly jolly. Just a grumpy old man and the photo shows. You do get one free photo and have to pay for a download or package. Exploring Cabela's is an adventure in itself! It's a sprawling sporting goods store with a very welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you are walking into a mountain lodge. They truly have a little something to offer everyone regardless of how outdoorsy or into hunting/fishing you are. I love that this place is family friendly and the aquarium area is almost always bustling with little ones checking out the fish. They even have scheduled feeding times so you can plan your visit around this if you want a little more of a show. We just visited in the beginning of December and they had a huge selection of toys for all ages as well as a Santa's wonderland area set up with organized activities/crafts and an opportunity to have a meet & greet with Santa. Be sure to make you way to the far back right side of the store and browse the clearance room where they have most of the marked down items. It can get a little messy and disorganized but if you make the effort to dig around a little you can find some really great deals on various items from all of their departments. Someone that works there is almost always available throughout all of the areas in the store which is super helpful if you have questions so you don't have to go hunt somebody down in another department. I've been receiving Cabela's outdoor gear catalogs in the mail for as long as I can remember. My Cabela's shopping has always consisted of buying from the catalog, and later in the internet era - from their web store. But I've never been in a Cabela's Store until today. I was in Greenville, SC for work and was coming back to my hotel after lunch when I spied the Cabela's sign. So I took a detour and stopped in for a visit. One would think that mid afternoon on a Wednesday that the store would be slow. Not so! The place was packed! You would've thought it was Christmas time as hard as it was to find a parking space! The place is massive! I wandered around a bit, focussing on the fly fishing section, looked over some of the camp cooking gear, and finally some of the optics - specifically binoculars. I believe the store opened just a couple of weeks ago. The place is well stocked, clean, well lit, and well organized. Lots and lots of staff if you have a question or need help! They have a number of interpretive wildlife exhibits, and a couple of massive freshwater aquariums - one stocked with cold water species: Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout; and a warm water aquarium that has Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Suckers, Carp, and I believe some Gar. There were some other species - but it was hard to get a good look at them with all of the little kids swarming around the aquarium! Impressive store! I thought Bass Pro Shops were huge, not compared to Cabela's! You walk in and there is a giant stone fire place with a seating area around the rest rooms, it's cozy! Sad but cool to see all the animals decorated all over the walls and in random displays. The highlight of this place is the huge fish tank under the mountain of animal display. My daughter LOVED this and the little kid in myself did to! There's everything you can imagine here, great selection on all clothing, fishing, hunting and any outdoorsy thing you desire! Prices are high but you know you're getting good quality and durable brands! My husband really enjoyed the gun selection and the gun library. It has a little cafe in the corner with fudge and other snacks. We came in to graze, so customer service I cannot review on but the store is very organized and everything is in stock. I have delayed writing a post on multiple occasions because I didn't want to knock the workers or the management that run Cabelas in Greenville just for one bad experience. At this point there have just been too many things that are consistently bad that people should know about this store. In the last couple years I have made at least 10 purchases in this store and nearly every single one has had a price discrepancy. I'm very understanding and patient that these things happen but to happen that often is willful ignorance in marking prices correctly. Even that by itself isn't the worst but on every occasion that I can remember not one cashier said anything close to "I'm sorry for the inconvenience". Instead they role there eyes that the have to do a price check and call a manager. No manager has even acknowledged me as they come to change the price much less say "I'm sorry for the discrepancy or thank you for your business". My last purchase was yesterday where I bought new carbon express arrows with nockturnal nocks. After buying the items (and correcting the cashier on both wrong prices) the arrow shop said it would take an hour before they get to them. No worries, I left my number and ran some errands. 2 hours go by and I call them and they are not ready. I said no worries I'll go home and pick them up tomorrow since I now don't have time to wait any longer. I call the next day, still not done but they will get them done by noon. I stop by at 1 pm and they hand me the box of arrows. I get home and they did not install the nocks that I purchased and said that they would. I call the archery department again and instead of apologizing they just told me well they are easy to install you can do it yourself. Which I totally agree, I can and I now will but they didn't even apologize that I now have driven back and forth (30min one way) and wasted two days waiting for these arrow and will now have to drive back a third day. Cabelas has lost my completely lost my business as well as anyone else I hunt with. Their lack of professionalism and common courtesy should be embarrassing to any upper management. read more

I did want to take a moment to share an experience that was less than great. After the kids did Santa we went to go see the fish. There was a booth set up for a travel thing I believe and we walked by they asked if we had a moment. My brother in law said no thanks and we walked on. Then one guy from the booth yells out "come on help the poor guy out. He just said just trying to make sales." My brother in law said "thanks we're just trying to enjoy our evening with out getting harassed for sales." The guy said "well coming to a retail store really isn't a great place if your not looking to get sold something." This man made our family feel very put off and the kids scared. He then continued with other families. I get it direct sales can be hard. I used to hand out samples in grocery stores. These guys were not respectful of the people around them and also not respectful of Cabela's. read more

I've been a few times and the staff is helpful. Sometimes they are in their own world and you have to make an effort to ask questions instead of them asking you if you need help. I've talked to a few of the people about archery and they were super helpful every time. I've bought several types of products over my visits. Watch out for buying used guns! Seller tolded me someone bought the wrong gun (no safety) and took it back. And told me it was basically brand new. I don't know how many round has been through it but they definitely switch out the mags. One is basically trash, clearly used and dirty. What if someone put there life in that mag? We went into Cabela's looking for 10- 8' adjustable tent poles and they were all out. We were desperate and needed to leave for our camping trip in 5 days. MR. My husband always has to stop by this place when we are in Greenville, mainly due to the overwhelmingly large selection of guns and its just manly. I'll admit the place is pretty cool with the decorations, huge fish tank in the middle of the store, and the café up front which always smells so good. The store doesn't typically run any good sales when we are in so don't come looking for the best price around. This is a great store to spend hours just browsing and walking around. We were there on 2/14 and one entrance was blocked and the other one had people selling girl scout cookies, so you could not avoid them. I worked my way to the back where they have the fish and was accosted by a store member to register for a monthly drawing. Cool. I did that after I asked were there any strings attached and he said no. Then he wants me to purchase some vacay bs and was very rude after I told him I was not interested. Now I don't know if that is something with Cabela's were you have to sell so many promotions or credit card apps but that is annoying. Great deals on ammo and excellent deals on accessories for your firearms. I've been here dozens of times and have always walked out happy with my purchase. They also have SUPER awesome deals on hiking equipment. Most times they are cheaper than Amazon. My only complaint might be that they constantly shove their credit card offers down your throat. I understand you're trying to make a buck, but I feel like I need to walk around with a sign that says, "not interested in your stupid credit card!" Otherwise the prices are awesome, staff is friendly, and the aquarium is awesome. I'm not into fishing but there are several isles of the fishing gear. More than I have ever seen. read more

She said that the larger sizes are more expensive. Cashier was rude. We ended up leaving. Went back to look at the sign and there was no mention of larger sizes being more expensive. I drove 40 minutes to purchase some fishing equipment and when i got to the store there was no one there to show me reels, rods, etc. The reels are in a locked case. I was told by folks in another department that the guy who handles the fly fish equipment was on his break and would return in 15 minutes. After 20 minutes, no one showed up. I then went to the customer service counter and waited again. The two guys behind the counter were having a great conversation with each other but never acknowledged me so i left. I've been a customer for many years and have found most of the employees helpful and courteous, but not today. I won't visit Cabellas again and will be ordering my new equipment from Amazon. I hope they can fix the problem so other visitors/customers do't waste there time like i did. read more

My review is for the Fly Fishing section of this outdoor establishment. I've been fishing for a very long time and was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Southern California. I always carry a rod and reel in the car wherever I go because you never know when you will be driving by a pond, lake, etc. During our conversation we were talking about fishing and just like the ladies with shoes, fashion talk, it lasted a good bit. The issue with carrying a fishing set up with you is the amount of space it takes in the vehicle and the pain of carrying your lures and accessories. He told me about how he has taken up fly fishing for the sole purpose of how compact and portable it was when he travels, hikes, etc. I was sold. The following day I immediately went to Cabela's hoping someone there has knowledge and experience of Fly Fishing. As men, we think we know everything (ex. we don't ask or need directions/ instructions). Fly fishing is a whole different sport than your regular conventional spinning reel and bait casting reel fishing. I had so many questions, but didn't want to ask for help. I was approached by one of the salesmen because I must of had the deer in the headlights look on my face as I was looking around. It was hard for me to do, but I let my guard/pride down and started asking him a million questions. I was there for an hour talking and learning about this new sport I wanted to get into. He was very knowledgable and patient with me. Very professional individual. He was not just you average retail store worker, he fly fishes as a hobby and works there to share his knowledge to people like myself. I use to never ask for help at places because in my mind the people are just working in a specific department just because they were put there even though they have no knowledge about the product. I'm a changed man now because of my experience with Matt at the Fly Fishing section of Cabela's. If you are thinking about getting into the sport, you need to go by and talk to Matt. He knows his stuff and can get you what you need to get started. read more

Wanted to get her to understand I was needing to get 7 items shipped in from a Bass Pro store in NY, store # 9 that I had already spoke with earlier. Told me she would get manager to call me back. A total lack of leader ship in the ammunition and gun sale area many people looking for a gun selection ammunition and no employees available to help the customers. I went to the main customer service area and I asked for assistance in the matter and waited over 15 minutes for the managers to show up and still no manager showed up to assist in my concerns. They're discounted mark down area in the back of the store has full retail items in the area was spoken to the manager in the department we don't have a place to go with that merchandise so therefore we're going to put it in the back and try to sell it as full price merchandise. A con job to say the least. I have lived in seven different states in the past three years and this is the poorest ran customer service store that I've ever been in with a pro bass shop in Cabela's. This leadership team of managers displays a tremendous lack of amount of customers service skills to serve the public in South Carolina.
