It is a small veteran owned business that has been serving the 11 million annual visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains for the past twenty years. My friend's hiking boots literally fell apart on the mountain so we stopped in to check out what kind of hiking boots they had. Prices seemed reasonable and they had a good selection. A salesperson spent some time talking to my friend and showing her the differences between the boots. In addition to hiking boots they carry anything a day hiker could need or want. They had a large selection of T-shirts, hiking gear including hats, ponchos which I really wish we had brought earlier when we got hit by a sudden rain storm, bug spray, sunblock, water bottles, backpacks, walking sticks, and anything else you could possibly want. If you forgot it, they got it! The Day Hiker is conveniently located a half mile from the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park where some of the best hiking trails in the country await you.

Nice man working there just let me borrow one for the day. Wouldn't accept money or even a security deposit. Enjoyable hike he recommended up to the Grotto Trail. We returned the pole before closing, even tho it would've been ok to bring it back the next morning. Enjoyed talking with owner and his wife. Worth dropping in! Was also looking for shirts that they had at 2 for $20 and asked gentlemen if they had a certain size in the back but they didn't. However he was nice enough to check for me. It was the days after black friday so I am sure people wiped them out. Had a discussion with the cashier while we were checking out and he said black friday was crazy there were tons of people in there for the dales on Friday. Great place for good winter gear.
