Cabela's is awesome! My brother and I frequent here so often that some workers recognize and greet us, especially when it comes to the gun section. The gun section is where I spend most of my time because they have a pretty impressive inventory and the workers will walk you through anything you need help with. From scopes and caliber specs to picking out which gun is right for you, Cabela's has you covered. There is plenty of parking, it is clean, spacious, and family-friendly. Truly a place for any outdoors-man or woman. The prices do tend to run on the higher end with their inventory, but I think this can be said for most outdoor shops. read more

This is a store that is definately not customer centered. Went in Sunday afternoon and was told they got a truck every night and the only way to get ammo was to be there when they opened the door. It is gone in 15 minutes. Went this morning before opening. When they opened I was first in store, went straight to the gun dept. On the way asked 2 people about ammo, they didn't know, I had to wait on the guy in the gun dept. Had to wait 10 min before anyone showed to tell me there was no ammo and they do not get a truck every night. Don't you love to be lied to just to get you back in the store! Then asked to check the tigger pull on a pistol I was prepared to purchase. NO WAY! They will not remove the trigger guard until the gun is going out the door. It's like buying a car and not being able to drive it before you buy it and CAN'T take it back. They also have a terrible cashier policy. If decide to open a new register they should ask for the next person in line, not just take the next one that walks up. Just poor customer service!! read more

Haven't been here since they opened so we were excited to visit the store today. I walked in feeling very disoriented with no one to be found to ask for assistance. We wanted a fire pit screen cover. After circling the fire pit section and having no success finding a screen or an employee to assist us we decided to stand and wait for one employee to finish his chitchat about the Carolina panthers with someone who appeared to be his friend. We asked him to help us find a screen. He took us back to the area we were at and also couldn't find any. I asked if they had them online. He didn't know so he went to log into a nearby computer. We waited and waited and waited. We finally logged in to their website on our own phones. We confirmed they didn't have any. We thanked the guy and he was still waiting for his computer to load in order to access their website. He made the comment; "Multimillion dollar company but they can't upgrade our computers to function timely for us!" Well he was right about that! Next we looked for a log splitter for kindling. The next guy showed us an axe. We further described it but they had no clue what we meant and we didn't see it on line either. We decided to pick up some over priced marine cleaning products in order to use our gift certificate from Christmas. And once again the cash register computer took forever to check out. The clerk also messed up inputting something. He seemed a bit confused. Overall we were not impressed about this hyped up store. Their prices are higher than elsewhere, customer support was lacking, very limited stock and very inefficient computers. At least we used the $50 gift certificate and I will have a cleaner boat. Wife of my husband whom purchased a boat from a 6.5 Billion dollar company and is sold a lemon for a boat. Z18 2022. I will give you a time stamp of major highlights. Brandon Salesman was phenomenal he needs a raise and a different position. The rest is a BUST! 3/17 picked boat up 3/21 return boat because it left us stranded in the middle of a lake on our 3rd day out. Had to ride 2 hrs on a trolling motor to get back to dock. 4/6 Brandon called to give update 4/8 John called to tell me he didn't have any news on part 4/12 Evette told me in store that it would be middle of May before they could get part from mercury but that was a estimate. Might I add.... When trying to purchase certain features for this boat, I was told that it wasn't available due to the Masters going on in SC and couldn't sell it to me incase they needed it for them! Example: Lowrance HDS Live fish finder. They were in stock but on hold due to Masters being in SC. Prime season for fishing and my husband and I are left sitting making payments on a boat we currently and still do not have! I would suggest DO NOT BUY A BOAT HERE. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP IT OUTSIDE, NOT COVERED, GETTING WEATHERED.......because WE kept it in our garage & still am told they still have no parts to fix the lemon we were sold. AGAIN MAKING PAYMENTS ON A BOAT WE CANT GET BACK BECAUSE ITS A LEMON! Also as bonus* we got the the loan for the boat on 03/07. They did not have our boat ready until 03/17/2022. So stay clear........DO NOT BUY A BOAT FROM HERE. Spare yourself the pain! Making payments on a boat we don't have! not as great as Bass pro but similar. has a area in which you can test bows before purchase. the prices on almost all items are higher than at bass pro. I do wish they had a larger home section of decor etc. there is a small eatery there with fudge and a few small eat choices. They had santa there when we walked through. read more

1. Store is awesome. 1 star. 2. Location is great. 1 star. I went in this morning to purchase a handgun for my wife for Christmas. Only 1 person working the handgun counter at 11am. I stood and window shopped for 30 minutes. Walked around for 15 minutes and went back. Still same person working the cases. A shame that only one person working that spot. Two hours later I purchased a handgun at Nichols Store in Rock Hill, SC. Nichols had 8 people working gun counter and manager and owner on the floor helping people. read more

Pros: Larger than Gander Mountain and smaller than Bass Pro Shop. Had a good sale on 9mm ammo, priced less than Walmart. Not far off of the exit. Cons: They close at 9:00 pm. It's located in the parking lot of Carowinds. I would recommend shopping here for hunting, fishing and camping gear. read more

The place is very cool to visit with lots of taxidermy and a live fish tank. Huge selection of guns, gear and clothes. A smaller selection of boats and tractors. What I don't get is why a company will spend millions on decor and then run with a skeleton staff? Long check out lines and little floor staff to help. read more

I give this locations two stars for customer service. In store, especially at the gun counter they are very helpful. As for the rest of the store, first you need to find someone. Regarding the ATV shop and service center, that is a different story. I dropped my 4 wheeler off over a week ago and have yet to get a call regarding repairs. I have been calling for days and have yet to talk to a live person. It either rings off the hook or goes to voicemail. Only I went here for service is the 4 wheeler is still under warranty. I've always liked Cabela's and have found their locations to have a great selection and great customer service, and this location doesn't disappoint. I typically visit this location when I have an online order to pick up. Ordering online and having items (including ammo) shipped to the store is a great way to get what you want and have it shipped for free. The pickup process is very easy, and the employees are always competent and courteous, making sure that I have everything that I ordered and that everything is to my satisfaction before I sign and accept the order. I also enjoy wandering here. There's a good selection of firearms, but I would rather order from a certain online retailer and pay the FFL transfer fee because the prices aren't great. The ammo selection is good. In fact, at the start of last week, I was in the store right after it opened, and there was a bunch of 22LR in stock. That's a sight I haven't seen in years. I'd imagine that traffic can get pretty bad with the Carowinds crowd right next door, but I have yet to experience anything but a smooth trip. read more

So I'm not really an outdoorsy store person, but my husband is and I often get pulled into them when we're out and about. We made a trip to Carowinds this past week and he had to come to this store. It is defenately smaller than any other Cabella's we've been to, but I felt it had a good variety of items. Their bullet prices were great and we even found some 22LR bullets that have been as hard as gold to come by. Overall it's another outdoorsy store, and to the non outdoorsy enthusiasts they all seem the same. It's like me pulling my husband in a shoe store. However don't pass up the fudge!! My one main reason not to put up a huge fight, FUDGE!!! It is amazing and so worth the time my husband spends searching the isle. My one complaint is that you do have to fight Carowinds traffic to get in and out of this place. They need a light to help you get in and out, I feared for my life. Lol read more

Wow! Incredibly frustrated at how the woman behind the fudge counter yelled at my children twice for touching the glass case. I understand that no one wants fingerprints all over the glass. We were skipped over by another customer (I understand it's a busy time of year and that was fine.) but the children were getting restless from waiting. She yelled loudly and startled us all. It was incredibly inappropriate and I can't believe it happened. We usually have all the great things to say about Cabela's so this unfortunate. read more

Tried to shop for a firearm here (with the understanding that inventory would be slim for obvious reasons), but the staff seemed more interested in bring aloof and snarky instead of making sales. Also, they are ignorant of concealed carry permit requirements. Arrogant + stupid = lost customer. I will never shop with Cabela's again. I shop here often when I need something and don't want to wait for shipping. Prices on certain items are high when compared to what you can find online, but that's quite often the case with brick and mortar Outdoor Gear stores. Occasionally they run out of stock of an item, but leave the display in the case. Most of the staff is reasonably knowledgeable on what they are selling. They are also attentive and try to be helpful. If they can't answer your question, they'll find someone who can. The store can be very busy during the weekends and holidays. read more

This review is strictly related to the exchange policy... After receiving a pair flannel lined jeans as a gift I went to exchange for a different pair as they were much too large. The price marked on the pants was $49.99 however without a receipt they said they would have to give me whatever the lower price in the system was, I agreed to this only to find that the price they gave me was $3... this seemed ridiculous so I called my mother (who originally purchased the gift) to see if she had the receipt. She told me me she did not have it but did in fact pay $50 for them a couple months earlier. I then proceeded to look through the store only to find the similar pants still at $50. I understand not having a receipt and the price dropping maybe by 50% at most but offering $3 to take them back in store credit is pretty much an insult. Needless to say I will never buy anything as a gift for anyone from cabela's. read more

I told myself not to go to Cabelas, because I knew I would end up getting frustrated. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I wanted to have it in hand today, so I went against my judgment and went to the store to buy it. Exactly what I was worried about happened. I stood patiently by the item I wanted in the glass showcase. After 20 minutes of standing there with not even an acknowledgment from anybody I was trying to get help from....Finally one of the employees behind the counter said he would be right with me. I waited another 30 minutes before I said to hell with it. If you're going to build a massive monstrosity of a store and not staff it correctly, i'd rather buy my crap sight-unseen off of the Internet for a better deal. Maybe next time take a few of the employees hocking Cabela's credit cards and instead try to help your customers. read more

This review does not reflect on some of the employees of cabela's they have been extremely nice and helpful. This is about the store. A couple of weeks ago I went into a Carbelas in Ft Mill SC. I bought a scope Vortex and scope mount. I got home and even though the mount said 1" the mount in the package was for a 30mm scope not 1". No big deal and happens. Return a few days later and they had no more 1" mounts in that brand on the shelf so I selected a leopold scope that was ~$30 dollars cheaper then the Vortex one I bought (149.99 apposed to $119.99) so they refunded ~$32 on my Cabela's credit card. Went home and mounted the new scope. Everything seemed fine until a few days later I get a call from the Sheriff's Department saying Cabelas reported that I guess I switched the scope mounts? I could never get a good answer from this guy. I explain the whole thing and exactly what I did and he said so they refunded it to your carbelas card and I said yes that there was no cash exchange either during the original purchase or the refund. I am unsure what the problem was and would have thought a store like Cabelas would have called me if there was an issue. So for the fact that Cabelas called the sheriff I will not do anymore business with them in the future or Bass Pro Shop which own them. It is really to bad about this I seldom actually return anything but at $149.99 I was not about to eat this cost. read more

What a horrible experience trying to purchase two firearms advertised on sale. After wasting an hour on sales and paperwork was told the firearm I selected was out of stock even though they already had it boxed up and ready to go. Tried to pass one much more expensive on me. Offered no response when I asked about the waste of my time and that I would take my business to a competitor. Never go to a big box store. I purchased a rifle online and went to pick it up. Cabela's has their own online version of the ATF Form 4473. If you misread a question, you're screwed. My purchase was denied, the employee would not tell me why, would not explain the form or my options, and not provide any additional information at all. They showed no interest in helping me because I was "out of state" (North Carolina literally one mile away). They told me I had to go get a background check from my county, even though I had in my possession a concealed carry permit which in itself requires a background check to obtain. I'm a US citizen, military veteran, no criminal record at all. What a joke. Becoming frustrated I elected to return my purchase (a technical issue as I had never actually taken possession of it). It took one employee and two managers 30 minutes to do it. All while the employee smirked at me like I was the problem. Same afternoon I went to a local shop in my county and had no issues at all. First time at Cabela's and it's a very nice place. However, once arriving at the cash registers we were greeted - or better yet NOT greeted - by the cashier, don't know her name or am bothered to know it, all I know is she's African-American with glasses. Didn't bother asking us how we were or even saying a simple hi. Literally didn't say a word to us throughout our entire transaction. My boyfriend forgot his card in the car and rushed out to get it. I understand the cashier's annoyance at that, but what really bothered me is that there was literally no one else in line. It wasn't a big deal. Once we paid she just handed us the receipt without another word. So much for customer service huh? Anyway, Cabela's is nice and all but that ruins the entire experience. read more

I bought a rifle today from Christopher. Sometimes when I shopped for guns here, or listened to other customers talking to gun or shooting employees here, I got scared. This was not the case with Christopher. He had thorough knowledge of products and was very helpful and pleasant as well, pleasure to do business with. It was the first day of an unexpected sale, there were a couple snags getting the transaction correct, but everyone involved at Cabela's was extremely professional and very nice. First visit was a mixed bag. Was looking for a birthday present for my son-in-law. Settled upon a cooler but couldn't decide between a DC powered on, a Yeti and the Cabela version of the Yeti. A very helpful associate showed up by the name of Sam explained the pros and cons of the DC one and carted the two coolers to one location to compare the two. If that had been our total experience would have given 5 stars, but. . . it was 5 minutes to closing time and the cashiers were ready to go home. When we showed up to pay got a disgusted look from the checkout clerk. She was gabbing with her friends and didn't want to see us. Think her name was Tiffany??
