Take my review with a grain of salt. I'm not an outdoorsman. I don't fish. I don't hunt. I don't do any extreme outdoor activities, besides camping in our pop-up. That feels really rugged to me, but we only camp on level sites with electric in state parks, which is not exactly the great wide open. So I don't have much to say about the quality or pricing of most of the merchandise here at Cabela's. I stopped in with my husband and kids to loiter a while because my husband has started fishing. He seemed to like the lure assortment. Our kids like the giant fish tank in the middle of the store. I strolled the clothing and shoe aisles a bit. The clothes seemed pricey, I can do better at the outlet or online. But there were some nice deals on cute women's boots. They were starting to put up Christmas items, and I came across some candy sunflower seeds in cute ornaments marked 67-cents. I grabbed a handful. At checkout, they rang up $2.99 a piece. I said nah, but the cashier was like "hold on, let us check." A manager checked the signage, and honored the 67-cent price. So that was pretty sweet customer service. And what else was pretty sweet? The hot nuts at each checkout aisle. They are $5 a cone, and are warm, sweet, just the right consistency. We shared a cone of cashews in front of the fireplace by the main entrance. Not a bad way to hang as a fam'. I noticed they have some scheduled family activities here too, like Halloween photos and crafts. So we may swing back by for that. And more hot nuts. As I mentioned, I am not really rugged, but there was enough for me to do here while the hub'ster ogled the large lure and rods selection. So Cabela's gets a decent review from this suburban softy, after all. read more

Usually I love the "Cabela's Experience", however this time was a little disapponiting. I had several things in mind that I needed to pick up for the upcoming bow and rifle season. Found most of my items with no problem. However there was one item that I was looking for and couldn't find. I asked a young man who worked there for help locating my item. His response was "No idea man. Somewhere over there is a girl named Olivia. If you can find her, she'll help you". After that I went to buy a few boxes of ammo. What I found was mostly bare shelves. I mean, how does "The World's Foremost Outfitter" have no 30-30 ammo in stock? NONE!! It's only the most popular deer cartridge in the history of rifle hunting. Geez. read more

Honestly , this was my first and last time, IF I do get anything from this store it will be purchased online. They have poor customer service I definitely wouldn't recommend them I'm going to look for better business else where. They see you standing there and just ignore you for at least 30-40 then tell you that you have to sign in first. The man looked at me as I waved to get his attention talking about hi as if he didn't see me standing there for that long period of time. I'm used to great customer and this just wasn't it. Cabela's - Outdoor Gear Near Me - Cheektowaga, New York

Really nice store. Took my dog here to get a picture with Santa. They do nice events for kids all year round but they go all out for Christmas, free crafts, free photo with Santa. I love that they allow dogs too. They had some sales going on but not a ton, and for me a lot of their goods are just out of my price range. I did find a nice set of woodland looking string lights for 13.00 though. Everyone was kind and helpful despite the stress they must feel with all the holiday shoppers. read more

Was a bit out of my element at Cabelas, it's overwhelming, in a good way. I had always passed this store when I would go to the mall but had no idea what it was until my boyfriend told me he could live there and that it's his favorite place on earth. Oy. So, for his birthday I had to venture in to see what I could come up with. There is SO much stuff. The perfect store for the outdoorsman or outdoorswoman. The hunting section was blinding, I mean there was just so much camouflage I didn't know what to do with myself. So many great leather cowboy boots, endless amounts of fishing and camping gear. Tents, flashlights, these gadgets, those gadgets, I mean they had something for every need. The women's clothing consisted of a very large section, clothing ranged from relatively affordable to pretty expensive depending on the brand. They had a clothing section for little kids and infants as well. It's pretty much impossible to leave this store and not drop hundreds of dollars. Once this store sucks you in, you just want to stay because there's so much to look at. It doesn't make it any easier that there is a cute cafe in the corner of the store that smells like cinnamon goodness. It's cozy! Many of the t-shirts are expensive for men, about $25. That's a little pricy for a t-shirt with a screen print that's Cabela's brand in my opinion. Their home goods section is cute, but very overpriced. $25 for a toothbrush holder is a tad steep. They had blankets, linens, coffee mugs, wallets, plastic water containers, lamps, you name it. I didn't notice any picture frames which is one thing I was excited to purchase. These would sell like crazy here; wood picture frames with animals! They also had a decent selection of hanging wall decor. The only reason I have to dock a star is because they have their "cheap" or "clearance" room in the back and you are unable to return any of the clothing items in that section. I found so many things I wanted to buy as gifts but it's always risky buying for other people when they don't have the ability to bring in a gift receipt and exchange it for something else. I wear the wear however I don't shop the brick and mortar. Received a pop up from Cabela's on the 3rd of February. Regarding boots. Something I use and appreciate on a daily basis. These were nice boots in the sense that they offered offered water and cold protection. I generally don't do pop up ads however the ad got better. 15% off. I was sold! Ordered, expected nothing. The boots were advertised as waterproof base, removable liner and leather tie up upper. All for $67.00!!! I normally buy Sorels and spend a small fortune. Boots arrived on the 5th! Free shipping. Just tax on the order. I am so freaking impressed on how well these boots fit and actually provide the waterproofing and warmth that I need! I'm cool. And happy! We love it here because they allow pets, and I bring my dog here for walks in the winter. They have a wide variety of Outdoor gear, from hunting and fishing, which really isn't my thing, to camping and kayaking, which is more my style. This Cabela's, next to the Walden Galleria, is pretty enormous. If you're familiar with the catalog at all, the store is basically everything you could want from the catalog, and then some. Would you like to buy a boat? Would you like to fill the boat with guns, meat grinders, and 15 fishing poles? You can do that here! Seriously though, they've got a pretty extensive line of stuff. They have an awesome selection of camping equipment, and some of their prices were better than Amazon (I had a list of some things I was looking for going in,) but some of them were not as good. It's still nice to be able to look at some of the items I was planning on purchasing. They have a ridiculous amount of clothing as well. Yes, you can find a camo bikini here. I tried to talk Lee into a 50 cal bullet bottle opener, but he was having none of it. I'll just have to go back and get it for myself, along with a deer lamp and a butchering table! read more

I have always loved this store and supported it, but I no longer will be. I visited this store to look at purchasing a rifle. I had a simple question to ask, prior to signing up and purchasing a gun. I waited patiently for one of the female employees to finish helping a customer, which she was very rude to because he simply wanted to buy a gun that wasn't in store despite the website showing it was. After she was done with him, she walked right past me and rudely told another customer that they needed to have signed in to buy a gun before walking away while he was trying to talk to her. Not once was I offered help. I am appalled by the lack of customer service I experienced in this store. Overall, horrible customer service and over priced items. read more

This place is overwhelming. It's not my usual fare but, lordy, is it a treat. This place is a veritable candy store of guns, ammo, and camouflage underpants. My friend needed ammo and he told me these are good prices. I wouldn't know. And the selection is, obviously, huge. It's like a walmart for hunters. I can't even describe all the things I saw in there. There was deer jerky, bows, guns, pistols, live fish, a taxidermists wet dream, sporting goods, hiking goods, camping goods, a whole section dedicated fishing line and much much more. If I had kids I would take them here as a reward for good behavior... and you should take yourself too. You deserve it. read more

Truly Gander Mountain on steroids. I find the stock here to be very much the same as Gander but organized on fancier looking shelves. I can't complain about anything here. I love the shoe departments in these stores because they sell all my favorite brands (keen, merrell, sorel, etc) and they even have a limited selection of cowboy boots. LOVE! The outerwear here is great, clothes in general are great. They have a dog toy/treat section. Kind of limited but interesting. I love the clearance section in the back too. Great deals on clothes, shoes, and gear! Don't forget to look up coupons on their website. I got a $10 off of $50 purchase texted to me while we were waiting in line. Boom! Just saved money! I've been pretty pumped about the new Cabela's store opening for awhile. A busy schedule prevented me from visiting sooner, but I needed to purchase a new pair of boots for the upcoming season, so I finally made it out this past week. This store is definitely not as much of a destination as the previous one I visited in West Virginia. While the product selection seemed comparable, a lot of the extra features that make Cabela's stores unique are missing. A lot of the taxidermy exhibits are missing, along with the toy shooter range and extensive home decor section. Still, the store is beautiful with high ceilings and a "log mansion" feel. The prices are higher than market averages, but consumers expect that when shopping here. There's an archery range, gun library, enormous recreational vehicle showroom, and the ever-popular game cafe. Overall, I'm thrilled that Cabela's selected Buffalo to be the home of its newest store and I'll definitely be back. The novelty sections are usually one-time visits, anyway. read more

I just stopped into the store today for nothing in particular . My father and I were looking in the archery section when Bob came to ask if we needed any help, we said no and he'd ask if I would like to shoot a bow. I replied with an excited yes, and even though he knew we weren't shopping for today he went through a mini lesson with me and I got to shoot for the very first time . It was an awesome experience and he was so informative and helpful, as soon as I'm ready I will be going back to purchase everything I need from him . I was willing to deal with the high prices because they're more or less a specialty store. I was here June 16. 5:00 (Cheektowaga Store). I got out of work early, so I was happy to get on with my evening early. I wanted to get a walking stick for my dad for father's day. I could not, for the life of me, find an associate who could help me find the stick. No one! I wandered into every department, and no one was there - the only associates I could see were cashiers who were plenty busy checking people out. Then - a miracle! I found a stick! I picked it up, looked at it, shrugged at the high price, and brought it to the cashier. The person in front of me used his chip card improperly and it froze the system. No worries. Things happen. It wasn't his fault, nor was it the fault of Cabela's. So as we waited for the system to reboot, we waited longer. The system wouldn't reboot properly. No biggy. Again - you can't control technical issues like this. I'm forgiving and very patient. The man who froze the system was ushered to another lane that opened up solely for his purchase. At this point, it had been more than 10 minutes. They instructed people not to go to that lane, as it was only open temporarily. 5 more minutes. I asked the clerk after she told another clerk that they should open up another register if I could be served next since I had been waiting for 15 minutes, and a considerable line had formed behind me. She ignored me. Flat out. I'm not quiet. I was direct. She looked at me while I was speaking, and then ignored me. No answer. I was kind. I wasn't a jerk about it. I was simply inquiring. Then she crept over to another register, booted it up, and waved other customers over. As you might figure, the way cash registers are, if you are to move to another line, the person up front has the least advantageous spot. Sure enough, as if the line moved in reverse, the rear of the line was being served, and I - the person who waited over 15 minutes as the next person in line - was now in the back of the line. I never felt more small in my life. I'm willing to give you money for an overpriced walking stick and this is how I'm treated?? I asked out loud "are you kidding me?" in a firm, loud, but not a yelling manner, which I felt was necessary at this point. Ignored again by the two clerks in the vicinity. I placed my merchandise on the belt and left. I called customer service. They apologized and offered me a "free gift" for my trouble. I get it - that was a kind gesture by that person, (manager on duty) but I was already pretty offended and completely let down by the store. Let me break this down in terms of timing: I walked into the store at 5, and I placed the call in the parking lot at 6:04. No one helped me find any merchandise, and I was treated like garbage at the cash wrap. An hour wasted and garbage treatment. Thanks Cabela's! You know what? Your business is CONSTANTLY threatened by better specialty stores (L.L. Bean doesn't do what you do, but they are coming to the area, and the one in Rochester had a MUCH better walking stick for the same price), and they're being threatened by online merchants. Amazon has next day delivery for $4.99 and it's STILL cheaper to go to them than you for comparable stuff. The only advantage you have on anyone is the potential to give good customer service, and you failed completely at that. Maybe I'm an anomaly, but there is no good reason whatsoever that I should have been treated this way. read more

Went to pick up a few things today and when I went to cash out the chip on my card wouldn't work and was told that I could not swipe my card and they couldn't manually enter. I went to the customer service desk and was told the same thing and my only option was to sign up for their credit card. Is there anything better than walking around this store fantasizing about all the camping things you want to buy? Well yes- it would be shopping for all those things and buying them, but browsing is the next best thing! This store is amazing. If you told me I'd love to spend a few hours wandering the aisles of Cabela's, and looking at the taxidermied animals, and grabbing a snack at the cafe- I'd say you were crazy, but it's true! I could look at the camping equipment all day. They have a great store brand, too- so if you see some hiking boots that are too expensive, look at the Cabella's version- they make great quality items. For Christmastime, they do the same thing Bass Pro does and have a big workshop with free Santa photos, free games, and a great set up with crafts and fun for the kids. That was a highlight this past holiday season. I can't wait for next year, to take my son again. They have everything you could possibly need or want from an outdoor shop but unlike other sites, the set up is gorgeous, with large wood beams and animals everywhere You feel like you're in a lodge or a cabin- the world's largest lodge or cabin- but still! They put effort tint he decor, and that makes all the difference. read more

We went there to buy a gun. My advice, DONT! We waited almost 30 minutes just for someone to wait on us. Then the clerk wasn't even knowledgeable about our gun/products and actually was deterring us from the gun purchase. Then, we went to another counTER were we waited 4HOURS to fill out an FBI online form. The longest lines in the store were for gun purchases and they had only one kiosk open to handle this and there were 3 available. What a cluster #%^*. Over the span of 2days, we were at the store 4Times to make this happen. Many people just got so frustrated and left. That's my advice to you, go tothe Gun Cenetr, or somewhere else where they know the product and have good customer service. I will never go back to Cabellas again. read more

I had ordered a pump shotgun from Cabelas. Few days later, I received an email stating my firearm had been received, and to come in by a date certain to pick-up. Following instructions, I went in to pick-up the firearm. After signing in with the firearm area, I started with the waiting period. 90 minutes later, I was still waiting. Being a weekend only one person was working the area, and more than several were constantly coming/going out the back of the area. No one showed any interest in keeping us updated with how long the waiting period would be, or advising other people waiting that they needed to sign in. Only when people asked questions were they somewhat advised. After waiting over 90 minutes, I asked how much longer that I had to wait. Two people were signed in ahead of me, but were not in the waiting area. Person working the desk was having a hard time locating them. I was told that I had another good hour or better to wait. Then I would have another 20-30 minutes or so for the background check etc. That would have been about 3 1/2 hours in total. How absolutely ridiculous!!! I did not appreciate how Cabelas ran their process, and was so indifferent to the value of my time as a customer. I had purchased the item and paid for it online. Now they expect me just to wait and wait. I got totally frustrated with the process, and told them to cancel my pickup/issue me a credit. Now, I had to wait for a manager to show-up. About 15 minutes later, he shows up, and acts like there's something wrong with me for wanting to cancel my purchase, and have a credit issued. I told them that they did not have enough help at in the area, and about all the employees coming and going. He attempted to say that they can't get enough help for the money being paid employees etc. Again, I demanded a credit which I ultimately received. After two hours or so of wasting my time, I left very frustrated. This on top of constant trips to Cabelas to buy ammunition, and then finding empty shelves (even though their website shows items being in stock) has been more than enough!!! Being the only major game in town, the store and its employees have a real attitude problem. Even if I have to drive a 100 miles, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service. I purchased a Carbon Express crossbow Feb 15. then the 1st day of 2nd season, the limb splintered. I returned to the Cheektowaga NY store and was told they could not do anything about it, and if I did not register it within 30 days of receipt the manufactured would not either. I spent thousands of dollars over the years, and was shocked they did not stand by their products. I called Carbon Express and they were shocked as well. They replaced both limbs and was repaired within a week. cost me $54.00 when it should have been free. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THEM AGAIN. read more

This place is horrible, I've been going here for months and have been more and more disappointed with each visit, the fishing staff would rather just watch yourself and intimidate you because they think you're going to steal but when you try to ask a question or for help there is no one around and if you do actually find someone they really can't be bothered. The firearm department is so horribly under staffed that it's just a joke and the only time I see anyone from the camping department is when they are in the fishing department joking around with the guys that don't want to help their customers. I have a decent drive to get here so I use to try to check online to see if what I need is in stock and learned that the online inventory checker is really just a joke. I went there today to buy a firearm that they had on sale and was laughed at when I went in to buy it. I just tried many times to call and see if it would be there tomorrow and was just repetitively hung up on. The only good thing that this store has going for it is the one guy who works in the ammo department and is very smart on his department. It sucks that we don't have any other decent outdoors stores around here anymore. I don't want to ever walk into a Cabela's ever again and at this point bass pro should just shut this places doors when they take Cabela's over or just get rid of the piss poor management and start fresh. I really wish bass pro came to buffalo and Cabela's didn't, I have tried my best to enjoy this store because I am an avid outdoorsman but their lack of decent caring staff and the fact that they never have what I need even though it says online that they have it has just burned me and I'm done with this place read more

I love the store and have bought a ton of merchandise there since they've opened but today was my first experience with their customer service department. All I can say is WOW. Absolutely top notch all the way. Over the winter I had purchased an electric trolling motor for my boat. It was the middle of winter and the boat was in winter storage but it was a great sale so I went ahead and bought it even though I didn't even have the boat here. Months go by and I finally get the motor put on the boat and take it out only to find that it's defective. My store warranty has long since expired so now I picture myself fighting with Minn Kota for a replacement and somehow mailing a 5' long fifty pound motor back to them. I called the store mostly for advice on how to proceed and was delighted to hear I could just bring it back and exchange it for a new one and they would handle the rest. Like I said the store warranty had run out months ago yet they still honored if and took care of me. I thought my fishing season was ruined and I was in for a battle but Cabellas customer service was an absolute delight to deal with. THANK YOU! read more
