Cubiertos - bread with spread plus chimichuri

Arrived in Buenos Aires early morning. After a heavy breakfast and walking around Puerto Madero, we were looking forward to our first Argentinian dinner but we did not want to go too far. Lucky for us, saw Cabana Villegas by the canal with people eating on the patio. Always a good sign if you don't where to go. It was between lunch and dinner so it was not crowded and we were seated promptly. Ordered our drinks and got our cubiertos (Bread and butter). This is standard in Argentina and you pay for it together with your meal. We ordered our steaks (sirloin and flank) with grilled vegetables. They were very tasty and cooked to our liking. I really enjoyed the fat on the sirloin that made it even tastier. They also served some sauces with your steak like chimichuri and something else. We were seated on the patio and have a great view of the Woman's bridge and great place to people watch along the canal. Servers were great! They even gave us some non-alcoholic drink as a parting gift Price was very reasonable. Will be back next time I'm in the area. P.S. Took a picture of the Tomahawk the other table ordered.

Came here as it was close to our hotel. Skirt steak was cooked to medium rare. Noticed they didn't season the steaks but had the salt, pepper and chimichurri sauce on the side. Service was probably the quickest we've had in Argentina.

Excellent restaurant in the industrial chic neighborhood of Porto Madero. Large indoor space along with an outdoor terrace which unfortunately was full when we came for lunch. Nevertheless we enjoyed a delicious meal inside. The service was incredibly fast and welcoming. Our waiter spoke great english, having no issues explaining the dishes and daily specials. There is small hutch-like side table next to every table where the waiter set a slate tray with homemade rolls and a selection of dipping sauces. At lunch time there is a set 3-course meal for around 1,550 Argentine pesos. Not included as an option are their grilled sweetbreads, so we ordered these separately; delicious, salty with a squeeze of lemon. Steak was the main and I had a side of smashed sweet potatoes. These were quite bland - added a little butter and salt, but other garnish would have made it better. Overall fantastic meal, a great final lunch in BA before heading off to Chile. Highly recommend for either lunch or dinner if you find yourself in Porto Madero. Book a reservation in advance.

We came here while walking tour Puerto Madero and we were starving. We saw that this place had good reviews on Google so we tried it out. We came at an odd time but there were some people in the restaurant. We appreciate the super helpful waiters who could understand our intermediate Spanish! We ordered beer because we just need that in the summer heat of BA! We also ordered grilled veggies and of course, short rib steak. Steak was great but it wasn't the best short rib I've ever had. It could be better but it was not bad or anything like that. The service was really good! I find the price to be a bit high in comparison to other steak restaurants in BA. I recommend coming here if you are in the Puerto Madero area and need to have a great meal.

This place is right by the universities and by the river. I came for their lunch special which is super affordable from noon to 4pm with choice of 3 course for 1550 or 4 course for 1690 and they include a lot of dishes. We had the sweetbread for apprizer which does not include in the lunch special but really worth a try if you have never had sweetbread, it's beef pancreas grilled, it might sound strange but really delicious. Usually expensive because of the delicacy, it's usually same price as main course. All the meat are really tasty and good portion. Service was great, love how friendly everyone is. And the space inside has large ceiling. Some outdoor seating also available but high demand.

Was going out for my third steak dinner in Aires. Thought i'd check out some of Puerto Madero at night. I was going to another place but it was busy so I went here. It was after 9pm I sat on the patio and had a nice view of the port. The service was good and attentive. I ordered the chorizo for a starter and it was good and tasty. I ordered a small steak and it was good too. Theg brought bread and butter too. The wine was good too. The meat was tastier here and it tasted like they used somd salt. The waiter was energeticand fridndly and helpful. I would recommend this place if in Buenos Aires

Last December we visited Buenos Aires and as a steak devotee, I was so happy to steak my way around the city. We ended up at Villegas 3 times that week! Once we happened upon it for lunch. Loved that I could have the french fries (celiac friendly) as they're done in a seperate fryer. I had the chicken breast - perfection. Tasty! Then we went back for dinner a few times. My favorite was the Tomahawk Rib Eye. Every time the steaks were done to perfection. I loved the menu page with the steaks 'doneness' map. The grilled vegetables were perfect as well. But the creme de la creme was the Provoleta - cheese from heaven is what I call it! We enjoyed sitting towards the back of the restaurant with the view of the river. I'm ruined now....nothing in the US tastes as good as a steak in BA!

American in Buenos Aires. This is our first night in Puerto Madero. We took a walk to the docks for dinner. Note: So pretty! There are a series of restaurants packed with customers at 10:30pm on Saturday. We passed a few and found this place. It didn't have nice reviews, but the "hola" outside hooked us. Note: We were shocked after waiting at Marcelo's and being almost dismissed in line. On our way to our seats, we passed by 2 others that also greeted us kindly. Needless to say, the greetings and service deserve 4.5 stars. Note: The waitress was nice but not as attentive. My mom loved her milenesa napolitana. Her fave version after 2 other restaurant versions in Argentina last week. My fettuccine was average. I wouldn't recommend it, but it hit the spot for my pasta craving. The food gets 3.5 stars. Note: After a lot of steak this past week, I just wanted some basic carb filled pasta. The view gets 4.4 stars. It is right by the water. Note: That is also just because it's my favorite number.

We were directed to our table for the wine tasting by friendly staff, it was nice because it was just my husband and I. Our sommelier Javier was answered all our questions about Argentinian wines, and patient since both my husband and I were semi new to wines, also it didn't help that my husband was a bit tipsy from being at a brewery before we went for the tasting. The pours for the tasting was more than expected and not sure if it's because it was only two of us but we got a second pour for each type of wine. I ended up tipsy since my husband didn't drink the second pour. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and we bought a bottle recommended by Javier, that we will open for a special occasion soon. Will definitely come back for a romantic dinner next time we're in town, because this restaurant would be a perfect place to have a date, loved the setting, and the numerous types of wines.

If you're wanting the traditional 'parrilla' experience, keep looking. I loved it though! The service is fantastic. It seemed we had our very own person who looked after us. We started with a foie gras that was out off this world! I couldn't put my finger on a certain taste, until I tried a little dab of the sprinklings on the top. I thought it was shaved truffles, but it was actually a bittersweet chocolate! Never had that combination before, but it totally worked!! The salad was a little random for a Cesar, but we were fairly warned. The steak ( only one on the menu I believe) was outstanding! Evidently, you don't need to dine at a noisy brightly lit parrilla to get a good steak! Ask to see their wine "cellar"! We enjoyed every minute and every bite!

I saw reviews online that the portions were large so I asked for a smaller plate but perhaps it was too little. However, with the spinach on the side and bread starter I was pretty full. There were a lot of tourists here, I heard a lot of English speaking guests which was nice thought because the staff here spoke English very well. The service was very good and quick. There are outlets all to charge your devices. Bonus! The staff was very kind in helping me figure out how to exchange USD to Argentinian pesos. I used this cash to get a SUBE card a few blocks down at the lottery store.
