Had a leaking water pipe in front yard. Technician showed up on time, confirmed the issue as described, and completed all work within 1.25 hours for $918.56. I had asked about a veteran discount to try and get the higher than expected price down a bit. He said he had already given me a discount, so he couldn't do that as well. Wasn't sure what the discount was, but if they do have a veterans discount it's probably better than the ~6% savings from the one he gave me. Work quality (as far as I can tell) was good, but price is extremely high considering the time and parts required. Won't be my first choice next time we have an issue. read more

They did a good job diagnosing my leaking tankless Rinnai water heater. The unit was under warranty and was going to be replaced by Rinnai. I just had to pay to have it reinstalled. C Woods wanted to charge me $2300. I declined their service and the next day had it reinstalled by another certified plumbing company for $485 and it took the master plumber 30 minutes to remove the old and replace the new. I'm all for companies making money, but this amount of overcharge is wrong and dishonest. I won't be calling them again. read more

Been using C. Woods for HVAC since 2014 when my wife and I moved to ETX. All in all, very positive. Last night, five year old SURE system was not cooling. "John" came by this afternoon and diagnosed capacitor issue, replaced it and we are cool this evening, thank you Lord for AC in Texas in the summer. Reading some of the reviews, I do appreciate that it's not all roses. My only beef is there were some add on's (hard start, UV filtration, surge protection) that could have been included in the AC replacement quote when we installed the unit in 2020. C Woods came out to check our kitchen pipes. Ultimately, they charged us $500 for them to cut off a pipe and then say that we would have to repipe the whole house hot water which would be another, minimum, $6500. We had another company out for a second opinion and they said they can fix the issue without having to repipe the house for $650 total! They said even if they had to repipe the entire hot water system that it would have only been $3500! We will NEVER be returning to C Woods and will discourage anyone else from using them! The price difference is outlandish. We feel like we were taken advantage of! The plumber was nice, but these prices Say no to C Woods for plumbing, for sure! Just began service with C. Woods Company. So far, so good. I called and scheduled a regular service for my air conditioning unit. The company responded promptly and the person on the phone recommended they also look at my heater. The day before the appointment I got a text message asking me to confirm, and the day of the appointment I got another text message telling me who would be arriving at my door. The bad news, for me, was that the heating unit for this house needed some work. The price was, perhaps, a bit on the high side, but this is not an area where I am trying to penny pinch. I find C. Woods to be prompt, reliable, professional and quick to diagnose and fix the problem. I would recommend. read more

About a year ago our system wasn't cooling very well so we called them to come out and take a look. First, the guy they sent out seemed a little disgruntled, it being the weekend and all but I can look past that. Second, I guess he was trying to get home quickly because 25 minutes later he said our unit was older and needed replacing ($10,000 quote us then he headed out). I said no thanks and got a second opinion. The other company said it was a bad switch on the outside unit and replaced it for 100$. We have had no issues since then. Never again! Wood's 24/7 service, we got a good nights sleep. We are a new very satisfied customer. Once again, on a very hot day, CWoods came to our rescue within an hour of when I called them with an SOS. The gals in the office were very helpful and pleasant and they called and sent an email when the technician was on the way. I requested a look at my A/C unit. I was told there were parts that were out. I had them replaced at $400 + . Two days later, I called them to tell them, it wasnt fixed. The guy told me the A/c unit was bad, and needed replaced. I asked why the last guy didnt see that, and was told he fixed what he thought was wrong. So the sales guy came out and told me the new unit would be $11000., but we could finance it, and it would start with payments. After the installation, I was told it would be $416. for installtion, and it wasnt covered in the financing. I was and still am hot about this, but I paid it. Issue: The Repair Estimate Beware part price mark up! Disclaimer: I attempted to reach the owner to discuss before leaving this updated review. In fact, I was chatting via yelp with Chad W: Owner, but it turns out he's the Marketing Director. Chad stated that he didn't handle that end of the business (part pricing/ordering) and that I'd have to call the office. In response, I spoke to a Jessie who said she would have the actual owner contact me. Another female employee (not the owner) called me to inform me the part was in and inquired as to setting up the next service call. I explained that I first wanted to obtain the actual part number and price, as I felt the repair estimate was exceptionally high. Several minutes later a Mark called me and asked me if I wanted to set up the service call, or not. I asked if he was the owner. He said he was the General Manager. I shared my experience and concern regarding part price mark up. He held the position that $337.78 was competitive for a Hot Surface Ignition Glow Bar repair. I declined. read more

Had them out to our home to install 2 new toilets, a kitchen faucet (all of which I supplied) and a safety valve on my water heater, $1500+ later which is by their own admission was about 30% higher than others..Had to have both toilet flanges replaced at more expense even though it was their mistake and one toilet now is loose and rocking around again. Charged over three hundred dollars to install a garbage disposal that I provided.ridiculous overcharge.they present you with a written quote before they do the work so if you do not sign they do not do it. When I called their office to complain about the exhorbitant price a guy told me hey,you agreed up front,you didn't have to use us. I was not present when this happened,my wife was there alone and signed the paper not knowing that the amount was outrageous. The guy in thee phone started telling me about all their overhead and they have to make a profit etc. The job took less than one hour .as the cwoods guy said, we had the opportunity to decline. They broke my sink the. Told me "it can't be fixed, you gotta buy a new one." I had a friend come over he fixed it. They installed my A/C unit and the fan was wired wrong it was blowing backwards. The guy was watching YouTube videos to figure out how to install. I will never use them again. They may have people licensed, but that is not who will come to your house. read more

In my opinion, these folks are either dishonest or incompetent. We have 3 units at our house. Called them out Friday the 11th b/c the upstairs was not cooling. The other units were working fine. Spent $1,700 on refrigerant for that unit and for "maintenance" on the other two units that they suggested. Sunday morning, less than 48 hours later, one of the downstairs units quit working. Called them and they came back out and reported that the compressor on one of the downstairs units was now out, not repairable, and needed to be replaced. Would be looking at 10k plus job to replace everything. Had another guy come out. Found out that a piece called a Hard Start Kit that was previously installed had obviously, on his inspection, burnt out. These are less than $100 parts. He installed a new one, and the compressor is now running fine. It's 72 degrees. When I called to tell C Woods about it, had no good explanation. Again, either because they are utterly incompetent and didn't know to replace the Hard Start Kit, or because they are dishonest, they were going to have me put in an entire new unit. Will not ever call them again! Had septic issue and very friendly guy came and spent a couple hours removing toilet and snaking one bathroom. Was told there was an issue in master bath with a lid in shower trap hindering drainage. He went in master but guess he didn't do anything to fix it. Turns out problem under toilet on other end of house was a full septic tank. Guy said sorry, I snaked the whole house and it was a septic tank issue. Bill 420.00. Following day, septic tank was emptied by AAA sanitation (5 stars!!!) and than tried master shower and still wouldn't drain. Called CWoods back and talked with supervisor and he said " that would be a separate charge". I gave one star cause the guy was pleasant and did clean up very well after himself! read more

Called them out to install a new Electric Water Heater that I provided on site. Easy access in the Garage open closet. They quoted me $875 to install. I asked how long will it take? Answer 2 hours. So they were charging $ 435 per hour! I think not! Told them to leave immediately. Called another plumber and job done for $300. Overpriced! read more

I'm giving this 1 star ONLY because my A/C is fixed for now. I made an appointment 2 days earlier since my A/C was not working, but I have fans. The best time frame they could give me (even with 2 days notice) was 10-12, so ok I took a whole morning off. The office called before 10A and said the tech was on the way--he finally arrived at 2 minutes until 12. I had better things to do than wait around ALL morning; could have just met him at lunch. So, to the fix-- First, the tech DID NOT check the entire unit which I would expect, instead, he just checked my outside unit since I told him I thought that was where the problem was. He determined within 10 minutes that the connector was bad and said it would be $258 to replace it. I asked how much the part alone was and he said he had no way to know that it's all inclusive. I needed air, so I said ok. After another 10 minutes, it was working, but now he said the unit needed freon and it would be another $200-300, he wasn't sure exactly, but assured me he'd check to ensure it wasn't leaking. I asked where it could be leaking and he told me it was usually the inside unit. He NEVER even looked at the inside unit. $482.65 later, my air is working, but I KNOW I got ripped off using this company. I checked on the price of a connector for my unit and the MOST expensive one I found online is $49.99. Apparently, C. Woods charges $208/10 minutes or $1248/hour for their labor. OUTRAGEOUS and I probably still have a freon leak since the tech never checked the lines or the inside unit. I'm sure I can find a better company to come do a comprehensive check and servicing now. Bottom line-- Save your money and find an honest company with techs who won't take advantage of people in a pinch. read more

The office staff was very friendly. The technician was very courteous and arrived exactly when he was scheduled. However, my toilet had just started to leak where the supply line enters the tank. I was told I needed a new supply line. Then I was told I would have to have a new stop valve installed, because the supply line would not fit the existing stop valve. After all of that, it still leaked! I was then told a new flush valve needed to be installed. So after well over $400, it was finally fixed, when I strongly suspect the valve was all that needed to be replaced. read more

Our garbage disposal clogged up within a week of Thanksgiving, and C. Woods was the first plumbing company to respond to my request for quick service. They could send a plumber the next day at the times I requested for my schedule, and even called to let me know when he was on the way. Larry was our plumber and the first thing I noticed was that he wore shoe covers to protect my hardwood floors. He immediately started working on the disposal and it was definitely clogged! Within 20 minutes the job was done and he thoroughly cleaned inside the cabinet under the disposal. He explained that the disposal is undersized at 1/4 hp instead of the 3/4 hp required to completely pulverize food waste, but he did not try to pressure me to buying a new, larger unit. I'll be calling C. Woods plumbing whenever I need a plumber. read more

Overpriced and don't fix issues while they are there, causing you to have to call them back multiple times - all of which they charge for and could have been fixed on the first service call. On 914 2018 my air-conditioning unit went out my husband called C Woods they arrived at my house at 8 PM Their technician informed me that my entire unit was no good that the wiring on the inside air handler was bad and not done correctly that the breakers were no good and they were unable to be replaced because they do not make them anymore he then proceeded to go outside to check the outside unit and told me that it was no good and would also need to be replaced for a total replacement of both of these units would be over $6000 I proceeded to ask him can we not just get new breakers and have that done and he said no they do not make those breakers anymore I asked him if there was anything that we could do because I have severe asthma and really needed to have air-conditioning he said no so I agreed to replace the inside air handling unit for $3800 and he went on his merry way paid him his $90 service call fee the next morning some friends came over and looked at my unit they disconnected my heating from the breaker and hook my AC up to breaker. this was something that I had asked the tech and he said it could not be done. Well it can and was done by friends and that allowed me to have AC. then that allowed me to have air-conditioning for the weekend then my friend said just go buy two new breakers and will come out and install them so my husband went out today Monday picked up two breakers that he bought at the local electric store that they have not discontinued making and they're currently being installed into my air handler so now instead of spending $3800 I spent $91 and C Woods did not get to make a commission because after all I did find out that their service tech people are paid on commission and everything he said it couldn't be done can be done he just wanted to make more money and wanted me to get a new unit I feel very used by this company and will never ever recommend them again if you do use them I suggest you get a second opinion before you go back and let them do any work for you. read more

We called C Woods for an issue with our gas heating system. The heater has an automatic pilot light, but the pilot light was not lighting. There is also a zoning board connected to the system. Not being an expert in any of the above or really knowing anything about it at all, we had to have someone come out. We were told by the women in the office there would be a $90 diagnostic fee. We agreed and were told someone would be out later that day. The service man arrived and inspected the system. The problem was simple, our zoning board was in emergency heating zone and needed to be in regular heating zone. All it took to fix was an easy flip of a switch on the side of the board, which we had no idea was there. After the flipping of the switch, we were informed that an extra $75 would be charged for the "minor repair" AKA the switch. Puzzled by why it would cost $75 to do something that could be compared to turning your thermostat from off to on, we called the office back. The response we received was "I can take $15 off, but I still have to charge you $60" on top of the $90 we were already having to pay. We reluctantly paid, although we felt as it was not a fair price for the "repair" we got. Needless to say we will not be using C Woods for any other service needs and wanted to inform other potential customers of our experience. read more
