The first quote I received was the price of a small, used car to repair a freeze damaged underground water line to my shop. The break was within 1 foot of where it daylighted from underground. At the price quoted, I was debating whether to repair it at all. I then got a quote from MV Plumbing, and it was 15.8% the amount of the other. That is not a typo, or 15.8% discount over the other quote, it was literally 1/6th the amount of the other company. Not sure if they used a different approach to the work or not. They showed up at 8:00 AM, and left at 8:50 AM, so you know they did not misquote the work to be done. I had installed a water meter, so could immediately verify the repair was proper and not leaking. Anyway, this is my 'Go To' plumbing company for sure, and another lesson in why we all need to get more than one quote whenever possible.

It was a Saturday, so... not a great start to the weekend, and also, not a lot of (decent) plumbers available! Anyway, I posted a project on Yelp, and Homeservice Plumbers were fairly quick to respond after my other Project options (not to be named here) either demanded a phone number or made wishy-washy timing range options (which were not amenable to my schedule). Homeservice Plumbers was quick, to the point, and not pushy or demanding at all anytime I was talking to them. I scheduled for Tuesday between 12-2pm arrival, and Xavier, the first person who came out to see the problem, showed up in a timely manner (just before 12pm!) as he had another service call in the area. He was respectful of property (brought his own shoe coverings!) and was also pleasant to work with. Unfortunately he didn't have the tools, but he was the one to call in Nick who had the requisite tools for the job. He confirmed the service would be possible, and off he went. The next person, Nick was great to work with - he arrived promptly at 5pm (the quoted range was 3-5pm, which was perfectly reasonable), respected the property (brought his own shoe coverings, asked to use a small bowl to capture the grease drippings from the p-trap, and cleaned up after the work was done), and was able to provide a fair estimate for a high value of quality work. He finished by 6:30pm and confirmed the drain was working, and verbally confirmed (it's not on the invoice but I hope I never have issues again!) that there's a one year labour warranty - great deal! I never caught the phone "operators" name (my bad, she called me THRICE and I still never caught her name), but she was cordial, polite, and quickly handled my concerns for updates on when the plumber(s) would arrive. Scheduling through Yelp was simple and easy - and having no "service call" fee means there's no obligation to go through with anything you're not comfortable with. Anyway, short story (really) long: this company is on my list of "high quality work at a fair rate", because (1) they don't charge for service calls, which is a bold move in today's service-oriented environment, (2) they are reasonable with pricing given that I'd done some research beforehand, and (3) they verbally offered a warranty for their services, which means that they're willing to stand by the quality of their work. Call them today for your plumbing issues. Fair, honest, trustworthy service is hard to come by - the companies you see on the billboards aren't the only options in town!

He said they would be back between 2 and 4 to do the repair, they didn't get here until after 5 PM. I was severely overcharged. I was told I would just be charged for parts and labor. They charged me $250 for a $99 faucet, I looked it up. And charged me $500 for less than 20 minutes of labor. Obviously, the timeslots mean nothing to these people. And again, I feel like I was severely overcharged.

They were in a position where they could easily have taken advantage of me, but instead chose kindness, understanding, and professionalism to resolve the issue. tl;dr: Fair pricing, quick, reliable and professional work, kind personalities…read more After being forced to snake my drains every couple of months, the galvanized pipes in my 60 year old home finally decided to call it quits and I decided it was time to replace them. I started getting estimates from different companies, and Wyatt from Piper's came out to see the scope of the work. Whenever hiring contractors I try to understand beforehand the work involved with the hypothetical if I had to do the work myself, that way when walking through the project with the person giving an estimate it helps me figure out the rough bound of what I think the project should cost in labor and materials and to help me catch if there's additional "work" or costs that get put into the bid. With this in mind, when Wyatt walked through the issues he saw and roughly the work involved to fix the issues, it was nothing but an accurate assessment. I felt comfortable bouncing ideas of what made sense to try and tackle in the scope of the repair and what might be unnecessary as there was no real sense of an upsell, just what seemed like honest, professional opinions. Time is money for lots of these companies, and sometimes estimates get rushed which happened in some of the estimates I received; but not with Piper's. They took the time to understand what my priorities were, what constraints there were, and give fair realistic suggestions. After accepting what I believed to be a very fair bid, they were able to schedule the work and came exactly when they said they would. My plumber was Wyatt with a secondary helper - both did a fantastic job and were great at what they needed to do, so only praise there. They were respectful, used shoe covers and moving pads so as to not track dirt on my carpet, cleaned up all the debris from the work, and showed great care in their work. They also were considerate of my requests to minimize the cuts into the drywall and whereas many other bids told me it was necessary to cut drywall in three different rooms for the work they took on the extra inconvenience and were able to keep all the cuts contained to just the bathroom. Time will tell how well the work holds up, but as of now I have the utmost confidence the work will last.

After sending him some pictures of our existing water heater and home layout, he gave us a very fair quote over the phone for a high-quality Bradford White electric water heater and scheduled an appointment for the next morning after we were out of isolation. Patrick realized we needed a hot shower ASAP! Luke, the installer, and his assistant arrived as scheduled and installed the new water heater within 90 minutes.
