I absolutely love Asian desserts and I'm so glad it's finally infiltrating Allston bit by bit. My friend and I stopped by C Fruit Life when it was sweltering hot outside. Thank god we did! It was cool inside and we were able to find shelter. The wait for the tables were a bit long (30 minutes ish) but I can say it was definitely worth it! We ordered the mango snowdae, which is basically like mango shaved snow. I thought it had a great consistency and the mango chunks were nice and sweet. I believe there were grapefruit bits on top. Overall, not a bad dessert! Next we had the mango soup (forgot the original name) but it came with rice balls, sago, mango chunks, and mango ice cream! I thought it was quite small BUT it was still pretty tasty. It's reminiscent of Mango Mango in NY. Although, I believe Mango Mango is a bit better in my opinion. However, it was pretty tasty and I don't have any real complaint about it. Overall, not a bad experience. Will definitely drop by when the weather stays warmer. I guess I must've come on a good day. Came with the siblings right after work around 5 and there were people at two other tables. Sat down and a waitress immediately came over and served us water and gave us bigger menus than the brochure sizes on the table. I felt kind of awkward cuz she was just hovering around, i guess people don't order at the front, instead the waiter just takes your order and brings your food. I guess they're just trying to get some tips off this service when you do pay. I was thinking more like kf tea or mixx where you just get your food and sit wherever without the need of table service. Love every detail of this place. Finally a place in Boston that has dessert as tasty as in Hong Kong. I think it is a franchise from them. The plating, the chairs everything is nice. I thought it was a place where you order at the counter and seat yourself but they serve you. $10 minimum if you pay with card and $15 minimum if you wanted to use multiple cards. I hate that, lol. Service: When you walk into the restaurant, a server comes and approaches you almost instantly. The service was off the top as they are super kind and friendly. Food Quality: I ordered several items in the menu and the Durian Pizza was my favorite. It is basically a plain dough with durian puree on top and finally covered in a thick layer of Mozzarella cheese! At first I thought the cheese and durian combination was not going to taste good but surprisingly, it tastes very pleasant. Everything just goes well together! I will definitely come back for more durian pizza in the future. Price: The price of the 10 inch durian pizza was $13.99 which I think is leaning towards the expensive side of the price spectrum. Considering I only get a 10 inch pizza and the only ingredients there are in the pizza is dough, durian puree, and mozzarella cheese. Cleanliness: I would say overall, this restaurant is very clean (it has achieved an A in food inspection). However, when I was walking past the kitchen, I saw trays of eaten food right outside the kitchen. That is where they put the dirty trays! The shaved ice is pretty good but I also got the mixed fruit green tea and that was pretty nasty. The shaved ice had a nice texture and the fruits were pretty fresh. The drink had no tea flavor and was bitter and tart. The key is that it cost $8!!! That's way too much for a few slices of fruit and water. Ridiculous! A cute place with sit down service. Seating is somewhat limited, as it seems quite busy, but small groups would probably be okay. They also appear to reserve tables. Mango snowdae 8$, mango flavored shaved snow with mango chunks, popping boba, and lychee jelly. This was what I was excited to come for, but it ended up too sweet for me. It's a decent size for the price and had good flavor otherwise. Starry night 6$, sesame soup with a few sticky rice balls. I enjoyed this a lot, as it was a good level of sweetness for me. It could have been more sesame flavored, but overall was tasty and looked very pretty. C Fruit Life helps cure my cravings for Asian desserts---love this place! The coconut and mango blast is a perfect mix of mango puree and coconut milk blend. It also had grass jelly and small chunks of mango inside, which helped add some interesting texture. The drink is perfect for warm weather and is a great pick-me-up. It's sweet, icy, and cold. I really liked the sphere's edge soup (with snowballs and black rice)---they are pretty similar to the dessert soup I had in China. The "snowballs" are very glutinous and chewy, and there were a lot of taro chunks. The taro-based soup is mildly sweet, and the black sticky rice balances out the sweetness. Even though it's served warm, I liked it better cold (after putting it in the fridge for a bit). The snow flake pear soup is fantastic as well. It's sweet but not artificial. I added lotus and ginkgo---the ginkgo adds a nice texture and isn't too mushy or firm. Even though it's a dessert, the pear and ginkgo are supposedly good for your throat, so all the more reasons to get it! FYI: they're on Ubereats! read more

A place of disrespect. Although the food is delicious, the quality of service is poor. I ordered the same food item online twice, but these orders came with different contents. So I called to ask how the item should look like. The lady who answered the phone was obviously impatient and did not explain the ingredients to me but said the dish should be just what it was. I have never been to this place. I made online orders on both occasions, and the content delivered was not consistent. How do I know what it should be, and isn't this the purpose of my call? During the call, she asked me many times what I wanted. It seems like she thought I was here for a refund so she kept telling me she could do nothing about it, which made me feel very uncomfortable because I wasn't asking for anything but the ingredients of this item to decide whether to order it in the future. Immediately afterward, she hung up the phone rudely before I finished speaking. I don't think this should be the attitude that a high-scoring restaurant should have. They don't care about the mistake they made, and they don't care about the guest experience. So they acted like they had a low interest in retaining any customers. One of my husband and my fave place for desserts. Depends on our mood but there's a variety of options. The hits: Red bean ginger milk for something warm. A nice gingery "custard" that's like a super soft Dim-sum-tofu pudding. Will take 15min to prep so order right away if you know you want this. Snowdaes (peanut butter or durian) for something cold. Peanut butter Snowdae is like an Asian snickers shaved ice cream combo with red beans. Sago float for a cold tapioca pudding with either mango or durian ice cream and mango pieces. Pocchi (mango or durian) for something in between. A good portion of fruit and whipped cream encased in a pastry wrap. The misses: No to the durian pizza - might be more interesting if there was more durian. No to the sesame soups. Too thick and not sweet or flavorful enough. They don't consistently add the dry ice to the snowdaes or a warmer for the hot desserts so presentation loses the cool/functional factor sometimes. No more gifts after the grand opening but that's good. Still get a 5 star :) would like to see the rewards cards return though. read more

Came here on a Saturday night and waited about 15 minutes for a table since seating is extremely limited. There was only one waitress for the entire place, so service was a bit slow. However, this was all forgotten once I had my desserts in front of me. I tried the Mango Snowdae which features mango shaved ice, lychee jelly, and mango boba. The ice itself was shaved very finely, and I loved how bold the fruit flavor was without being overly sweet. I tried the Mango Smoothie with Coconut and Herbal Jelly, which was good, but not exactly mind-blowing. BF tried the Oolong Tea with Durian salted cream - I'm not a big fan of the fruit, but was told that the cream has a mild durian note that he quite enjoyed.
