1. Bún Cá cay Hải Phòng (Spice Hai Phong Vemicelli Fish)
Cindy L.

Came here with my dad and had a good experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and even has a market inside, which makes it feel unique. There's also a wide variety of menu options to choose from. The staff were friendly and provided good service throughout our visit. I ordered the Cơm Gà Hải Nam (Hainanese Chicken Rice), while my dad had the Bún Cá Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Hai Phong Fish Vermicelli). Both dishes were delicious and very filling. The Hainanese chicken rice was my favorite. The rice was especially flavorful. My dad's fish vermicelli had a rich, tasty broth, although the fish itself was a little on the salty side.

We really enjoyed our experience here. Food was delicious, everything was seasoned right. The owner is very sweet, she walked around interacting with her customers making sure they have everything that is needed. The restaurant is inside Lucky Seafood Supermarket, next time when we visit we'll use the back entrance to the market which will lead directly to the restaurant so we don't have to through the market area.

Nice and big of seating area. The place is in the food court in the back of the market. Parking is nice and easy since it also in the back and convenient to go shopping prior or after at the market and eat here. Service is nice and friendly, food menu is small but plenty of try. Quality is good and well seasoned plus portion is nicely generous. The only thing or two that is not to my liking is the smell of the area...plenty of vendors and don't think the ventilators are working well enough. The other is the decor, abit colorful since they decor with plastic flowers/fruits trees.

I was greeted immediately after I walked in the door. The food is tasty. I need to go back and try something different. It's very pretty inside and spotless!

Me and my husband Stopped by for brunch after walking through several different food courts inside the Lucky Seafood supermarket. They did a good job on decorating the restaurant. Definitely looks like a great new and clean restaurant compared to other food shops around them. A big TV with relaxing music was playing on the wall next to the entrance door. We ordered a Bun Ca Cay and Bun Mam. They both came out with full of toppings, soup is good and veggies are fresh. Hope they will get more clients. Highly recommended! Support local business.

This is truly a hidden gem. My wife is buying stuffs in the market so I was walking around and buying lunch, then I walk past by this place. We ordered bún cá cay and bánh khọt (to go). We were surprised of how good the foods and drinks were. The soup are flavorful, I normally don't like fish but the fried fish diah comes with this soup are very flavoring and I love the dip sauce for it too. Oh, my wife loves the fruity yogurt, I recommend this and the cucumber/celery drink is refreshing on a hot day too. We planning to come back with friends soon. Btw, service lady is friendly. Place is clean and beautiful. It is a nice place to eat, drink or kick back....

First visit, and honestly? They set the bar high. I've had bun ca cay Hai Phong at other spots, and this one takes the crown. The food: * The fried fish was shatteringly crispy - the kind where you hear it before you taste it * Generous portions of fish and veggies, no sad little scraps floating around * Broth is light and clean, exactly what you want when your body is staging a protest The details matter here - you can tell someone in that kitchen actually cares. The fish wasn't just fried, it was fried right. Big difference. The vibe: * Tables are clean * Setup is pleasant, not the chaotic grocery store annex energy you'd expect Service was attentive without being in your face. For a restaurant living rent free inside a supermarket, they are punching well above their weight class. Will I be back? Already planning it.

A friend introduced Bun Ca Cay and we are pleasantly surprise how delicious and attentive the service were and on top of that the restaurant is clean and spacious! Had the restaurant's specialty "Bun Ca" and "Banh Khot" - wow! the flavor of the Bun Ca and the abundance of fish and fresh greeneries is on point. The Banh Khot is crispy outside and soft inside with large shrimp on top (as seen in the pic and reel) - again with plenty of veggies accompanying the dish - Love it! The waitress was super sweet, fast and gave GR8T recommendations! The management also came out to ask us if the food was good and if we needed anything else. Small gestures like that goes a long way and is memorable! GR8T job The ambiance /setting of the establishment is clean, spacious, quaint with many faux flowers and greeneries (as seen in the reel and photo). Another GR8T point to mention is that the ventilation is good! As we dine and walked out the place - our hair and clothing does not smell like the restaurant.

Pretty good. Fish sauce is flavorful. Banh khot is nice and crispy on the outside. I'm the only one here. Only one person here for service.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

We tried - razor clams, scallops (HUGE), the selection of salads are amazing so we got the spicy mango - House Special Mango Salad with squid & escargot -- is spicy , tangy, refreshing, and the refreshing taste! My favorite dish was the HUGE fried fish...color is amazing and the way the fish was presented seal the deal for me. Between two people, we devoured the entire fish !! It's the kind of place where you order "just a few things" and suddenly the entire table is covered in food. But, I'm not complaining since the team is very quick in getting the used plates off our tables. Also, both places offered FREE dessert. It's like a coconut based taro and other root sweet dish.

Our server was on the ball, taking our order, as huge as it was, with aplomb and efficiency. He brought drinks, gave suggestions, and was just super professional. The ambiance gave off special occasion and/or upscale dining. I especially loved our upstairs table in the elevated dining room. It felt like a VIP area. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon.
