I had some pretty strong concerns about this place over the past few years. Scheduling was frustrating, and the overall experience just didn't feel as professional or welcoming as it used to. That said, I do want to be fair--over time, not just based on one recent visit, I've noticed things improving. It's been easier to schedule, and interactions with staff have felt more respectful and organized. I still think there are some areas that could be better, especially when it comes to service recommendations, but I can see the effort being made. I've bought multiple cars from here, so this matters to me. The improvements definitely make me more open to continuing to do business with them. read more

I've bought three trucks from this dealership. Sales guy Troy is good. Service is good. The part that is HORRIBLE is the administrative part of buying a car. When I traded in my last truck I had money left on a couple of warranty packages I had bought. I had to stay after the dealership for 6 months to get that money back. I left a message for the management team and never got a returned call. I called my sales rep every two weeks to make sure it didn't get forgotten. I also just recently went to renew the tags on my truck and found out they never transferred them from my old truck. The response I got was pretty much "sorry and good luck." Buying a $50k vehicle should be a lot more enjoyable than Byers makes it. Go somewhere that appreciates you as a customer. read more

As with most car dealerships, the real decision maker/deal maker sits behind a desk and communicates through the sales reps. On August 17th 2025, I drove 2 hours to Byers Toyota because they had the car I wanted (2025 Hybrid Highlander) plus I gave the sales rep my ($reasonable$) expectations. He replied, "I think we can make you happy." Once at the dealership, it quickly became clear the sales rep was just a messenger and not my advocate. The gap to meet my reasonable expectations was $900. The sales rep went back to his sales manager and he lowered the gap by $400. I told the rep that I want the car BUT that gap (now $500) will result in my not giving them a positive on-line review. The rep did not flinch! They could have given me $500 more on my trade-in or reduced the sales price by $500. Ultimately, they failed in making me a happy... Meanwhile the sales manager remained in his office, never came out to say hi or acknowledge my purchase. When he walked by, he never made eye contact with anyone and demonstrated no customer service orientation. While Byer's Toyota has a good selection of new & used vehicles, I would not purchase from them again. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! read more

I brought my vehicle to have the brakes fixed as they were getting worn. The brakes didn't squeak before I brought my vehicle. After repair there's a squeaking noise. Brought the car back and they said they do not know why squeaking. Seems like damage was done to my car instead of proper repairs. My car still squeaks and they don't care. At this point Seems that will need to bring my car elsewhere for proper repairs after they charged me almost $600.00 read more

Hi! About a month ago I placed a $500 deposit on a 2023 Toyota Hybrid Corolla at Byer's Toyota of Delaware, Ohio. I am a US service member serving on a short deployment and unable to come directly into the dealership to take care of business. Today I received a call from Joel from the finance department and the I believe the second call from the General Manager. Unfortunately, I was told that they could not verify my identity since the security questions were answered incorrectly! The finance guy joked about me being a fictitious person and there was nothing else they could do for me. They told me they don't hold cars, but would hold this till the end of the month. In the past I was always under the impression that if you place a deposit, they are under obligation with you till you pick up the vehicle or give you a time frame to take ownership of the vehicle. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, and it left me in amazement. Previous experience with Toyota has been nothing short of incredible, and the level of professionalism just unmatched. They went the extra yard to make my buying experience truly unbelievable. I have recommended our last dealership to all of our friends and to my soldiers who have made many purchases and received many thanks for the referrals. I requested a test drive of a 2018 Honda Civic a month ago. I let the salesman know I was 1.5 hours away. I had been pre-approved for financing by my bank, but did their financing application in the hopes of being offered better rates. They approved me as well. So I scheduled a morning off of work and set up somebody to take me to the dealership for the car. I received an e-mail the afternoon prior to my appointment telling me the car I wanted had been sold - and offering me a different car. I elected not to move forward with Byers Auto Group, and purchased a car elsewhere. A few weeks later, I received a letter in the mail stating that my financing had been denied. My credit score is above 800; there is no legitimate financial reason for this denial. This dealership is not a trustworthy place to purchase a vehicle. read more

We purchased a vehicle and feel we got a pretty fair deal though it did take quite a bit of negotiating. When my temporary tags expired, I learned the dealership hadn't turned the title into my name. After calling and leaving six messages to the finance department, I still never heard back regarding this and wound up having to pay for another temporary tag. After starting the painful process of car shopping through another local dealer and coming away feeling like they weren't really "trying" very hard to obtain our business, nor the requested vehicle, we decided to visit Byers. And from start to finish, both my husband and I felt they really tried and cared about getting our business. Our salesperson Troy, was thorough, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and consistent in following up -- without being annoyingly "in our face" like some sales people can be... He was respectful -- yet persistent -- which we appreciated. He was able to get the car we wanted, at an outstanding price and in a timely manner! And he was true to his word as to pricing -- no 'hidden' fees -- unlike the other dealer we talked to first -- and the car arrived when/as promised!! UPDATE! Okay, so here's the deal. I got a 4Runner from Byers Toyota and, as noted in my original review, the experience wasn't terrible. I had a family emergency occur literally while I was signing the papers and I had to take the sort-of-purchased vehicle to the hospital with dealer tags on it. Brad, the sales person I worked with, was incredibly kind and helpful and checked in throughout the day to make sure everything was okay. So, the BUYING experience wasn't terrible. Brad was great. However... that was the end of my positive experience. Almost immediately, I had some pretty serious steering issues with my 4Runner. 9 months after purchasing the vehicle and 6 trips to 4 different Toyota dealerships (including Byers) for repairs, I found myself completely exhausted, frustrated at the vehicle I'd purchased, and annoyed that Byers Toyota wasn't helping me solve the issue. Though I reached out to Byers for help, they were completely hands-off and unresponsive. I ended up trading in the 4Runner, even though it was the car I intended to keep for decades. Rather than take accountability for the problems their customer faced after purchase, Byers left me hanging and resorting to the Lemon Law. It didn't need to come to that if only they'd listened to my concerns and followed up. It is my belief that they ultimately sold me a defective vehicle, though they seemed to be entirely unconcerned. The service department repaired the park assist on my 2012 Sienna while managing to break the remote start. When I asked for them to diagnose and repair the problem that they caused, they wanted to charge me $110 to diagnose the issue before pursuing the repair! I have been a loyal service customer for over 6 years and have never been treated so poorly. Initially, I was charged for my tire rotation which should have been free since I have purchased my tires there which according to Byer's policy entitles me to free tire rotation. I was able to remedy this prior to leaving the dealership. UPDATE- 3/23/16: Pam read my review and was very sweet going beyond expectations to remedy the situation. Upon returning to the dealership my vehicle was diagnosed and repaired! As I mentioned in my previous review. I have been trusting this business for the last six years. I have always been pleased with service advisors Josh and Daniel; these men never promise more than they can reasonably deliver and routinely exceed my expectations . Other advisors have not valued my time, fail to spend enough time listening to my needs and tend to under commit to what I know is Byer's service standards. I will return to Byers but I will be very selective about who my service advisors are. read more

I've waited until my third negative experience with these guys to finally write a review, or is this the fourth? 1. Took in car with a problem they couldn't diagnose so they only charged me $75 instead of $100. Thanks. 2. Took it back with the same problem 3 days later and they were able to figure it out and charge the warranty service $3000. They had agreed to credit the $75 back after I complained that I now had to pay another $100 as deductible for the same problem. Then needed me to pay $100 cash because their accounting wouldn't pay the $75 to the warranty company. 3. Took it back again 3 weeks later and they found more random stuff that cost me $700 not covered under warranty. Then offered me $1000 trade in on a 2009 Prius I still owe them $4000 for. I think I'd make it a policy to not offer trades on the same day I screw someone over in the service department. 4. Now the car is having another problem (not starting) and when I call and get sent to the screener at the service department, she won't even discuss the problem with me or allow me to talk to anyone in service to discuss it. I cannot stress strongly enough that unless you are buying from them (and a lease purchase is not technically buying from them) that they don't want to deal with you. If they did they wouldn't have suggested going somewhere else to buy it out. Three different times just to me. I have no idea what my wife experienced as she was running point on this transaction. I do know that she loved them when she leased the car new and she loathes them now after buying it after the lease. During the decision making process we were told false information about what we had to pay out of pocket because the car was out of warranty. The car was under warranty. No one looked before telling us this inaccurate info because they just wanted us out of the way. The goal was to try to push us off to service - which was closed - so they could get on with other work. Once we were doing the paperwork I declined the warranty. The finance guy did not respect my refusal when I said no multiple times and said I did not want to discuss any more warranty options. He said he had a disclosure we had to sign and he had to keep going over it - old school hard sell tactics in action. It ended up quite heated. When I spoke to the manager about it he was polite but the individual we worked with continued to be confrontational until the manager said he would deal with it and sent him away. We will not go back to this dealership for another car, service or any interaction as it is clear they value maximizing the amount of cash they can get out of you in a transaction over establishing a relationship to create a long term relationship. read more

I bought a Acura MDX from these guys and the leather was bad along with the steering wheel needed replaced. They replaced the outer steering wheel, but when it can back the plastics piece inside the wheel was very scratched like they were not sure how to get the airbag out. Had oil change and service done on Tacoma I purchased from Byers Imports (also a great experience!). When I dropped it with the service specialist, I anticipated and even pointed out that the air cleaner hadn't been changed in a while and the tires were iffy. Any other service or dealer out there would have tried to sell me those. The specialist brought me my air cleaner to show me it was fine. They completed the service and inspections quickly, and only $35 later sent me on my way. She suggested my tires were getting close to minimum tread, but would last long enough to get me to their spring tire sale, and offered to call me when it happens. We bought a used Toyota Highlander Hybrid from Byers, but after signing the papers, and within 10 miles of driving away from the dealership, a tire pressure warning light came on. We thought about turning around and heading back to the dealership, but decided to continue on to see if putting more air into the tires would solve the problem. This didn't fix it, so we immediately called Byers when we got home. We were stunned to be told that the vehicle was sold "as is" and they would charge us to fix it, even though it happened literally within minutes of the purchase AND it was Byers in the first place that had replaced the tires! We ended up taking the vehicle to our dealer at home where they replaced 2 sensors so far. This cost us around $100 - not much money, but we thought it was a lousy way for Byers to conduct business. We will not recommend Byers to our friends. read more

Bought a new truck from them. Guess that is my fault for purchasing something from them after losing five hours out of my life to purchase vehicle. The salesman had multiple customers at the same time and we were the unfortunate bottom of the priority list for them. Seemed to be others that arrived after us were given priority over us. Regret buying from them but I just wanted to get a vehicle and move on. I would have been more upset to not have a vehicle after five hours then at least having something to show for it. Everything was very manual and laborious of a process. I have never had to sit so long in a dealership ever. I would suggest eat before you go or take some snacks along. I found it funny that they are so concerned about the Toyota survey but did nothing to make me want to give them a positive score. read more

My wife & I had our Prius worked on at Buyers on Tuesday Jan 2nd, 2018. We were told by Tara that it was only a loose connection and were charged $270 and sent on our way. About 30 miles from home it broke down again ~ same symptoms, same problem. When we contacted them we were told to have our local Toyota dealer tow and examine it and they would take care of the cost. Now on the 5th of January we were told that the charges ($410) were our responsibility and there is nothing they can do. So after paying $270 for the technician to repair it, we are expected to pay another $410 to another dealership ~ really? read more

I brought my car in for service and a noise in the brake system. They had my car ready to go except for the brake noise. They kept e appraised as to their progress, but the noise could not be located. They gave me the option to continue the search or come back. I decided to come back at a later date. I am very satisfied because they worked their hearts out to rectify this noise and let me make the decision whether to continue or not. Most places would have put it on the rack, charged for the time, and walk away without any updates. All of the brake investigation came to me at no cost. Who could ask for any fairer results. Service Center pricing is outrageously high. I will never go back. I got a quote for over $1,000 (parts & labor) for replacement of a part that is easily accessible on the top of the engine compartment and should take a professional mechanic 30 minutes or less to replace. They quoted me $380 for the part. I found the same genuine Toyota part at several other Toyota dealerships for $240. I ended up towing my car to another repair shop and got the work completed for over $500 less. I have the paperwork to prove it. Even with the towing cost I saved a substantial amount of money.
