We came here on a great day. The actual tap room isn't anything too special however when we went they had a tent set up outside with an additional bar with a grilled cheese truck, a hipster AF band playing the weather was awesome the grounds are beautiful and people were friendly. We asked if it was an every Saturday deal and the guy who worked there said if its nice out its a party. I recommend going on a weekend in the spring or summer for sure. They had 4 beers on tap which were pretty hop heavy except for one and that one was pretty good. Wish I remembered the name of it but I was a bad yelper that day. Their beer wasn't my jam but I wanted to sit there all day and drink it anyways. The bathroom situation was rough because it was so busy. Only one unisex and two very over used porta potties. read more

Such an amazing brewery! I love having a brewery this good so close to my apartment! The bottles come in 22 oz. sizes, and the prices are definitely worth the quality of the beer you get. Their different brews are all very good (I even like their IPA, and I generally hate IPAs). Moby D is definitely my favorite. On top of having awesome beer, they have great events every now and then, inviting local restaurants as vendors and having some live music. In the winter, they even hold events on the brewery floor. You can drink your beer while standing next to he machine that bottled and labeled it just a few days ago! read more

We had a seven day vacation in the area and went here twice. When we rolled up the gravel road in our bikes I thought I died and went to heaven. A huge barn in the middle of a beautiful field houses the brewery. Inside is no frills. Four beers on tap. We both agreed the lighter variety wasn't quite our cup of tea (beer) but found the Havoc and the Moby quite refreshing. We could have been drinking anything cuz once we were outside it was bliss. Grilled cheese truck was tasty town and the guy shucking oysters was a nice surprise. We got some local info topped with lemon and a little horseradish. The first visit we were there a little later and a Van Ronk esque band appeared on a stage I didn't realize was there. This place is a gem. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the area. read more

Just Beer. Separating from Buzzard Bay Brewing, Just Beer is a small operation. Their distributor is the staff who drives to the local areas. Not many places carry their stuff yet but soon. The place is small but you can samples beers for $5. Their most popular, The Golden Flounder (since locals came in and got growlers and cases of this) is a pale ale. I did not particularly like it, the taste was off to me. The Moby D is where its at. A pale ale again but this one packs a caramel taste and more bold flavor. Their seasonal, Saison made with cranberries. I wasn't sure if I liked this or not. It's a Belgium style brew that's interesting. Their Gosnold's Hope is a sour porter. This is fermented in the bottle that it comes in ( a 2nd fermentation process). If you notice, the bottle has a champagne cork to it. This was sour. Not a huge fan but neat to try. Their IPA is awesome. Buy a case of this and read the 12 chapters printed on the labels. Their graphic designer is genius! Their IPA is very popular and it's a great one. Really nice flavor and enough to get one tipsy! During the summer time. They have drive thru brew, a case for $15 cash! Right now, they have a deal where you buy 2 cases at 24.99 (plus tax) and get the third one for $10! You can mix the cases up as well. Check this place out! read more

As the good locavore geeks that we are, my husband and I had tried to locally source all of the food and drinks for our wedding down in Little Compton, RI. At first, I had my heart set on getting kegs of Pretty Little Things beer. PLT is delicious and anyone who dines regularly in the Boston area will be familiar with as the au courant local artisinal brew, designed in Cambridge and brewed at Buzzards Bay down in Westport (in the same facility as Just Beer). However, it turns out that local beer is not so simple. In sum, I probably spoke to eight liquor stores, left a message with the brewery, and talked with the brewer himself, before I located a place that would sell me the kegs (the brewer, btb, did not know where I could find them). However, I couldn't buy them in Westport strangely, but only in Cambridge, and then turn around and drive them back down. And the price tag? Almost $400 per keg. There goes that plan... It turns out PLT has a distributor, or something, which means that all the kegs have to travel to some random hub first before they can be shipped anywhere, all adding the cost and taking away from the local thang. So I contacted Just Beer. What a lovely easy surprise. Yep, they can get us the kegs. How? Just drive on up and they will pour it in. How much? $80 per keg. Taste? Mad delicious. We particularly like the Big Mamie and the Moby D. Our wedding guests were delighted, and we kicked more than 2 kegs that fateful night. Not to mention that our tasting visit to the Brewery itself was like walking into a really cool hip hippy party that you've always wanted to get an invitation to, and that has very cold beer. Just Beer, all beer should be just like you. read more

Great beer. We liked all four kinds of beers in the flight. Enjoyed the outside beer garden. This is definitely our favorite brewery stop so far! Also, on Thursdays they have BYOG which is bring your own grillers. There's even local farmers there selling their organic meats. This is a must visit if you're into craft beer! read more

Aside from having great beer made on a beautiful property, the folks here are some of the best around. I was here on a busy Saturday last month with my parents just as the snow was thawing. we had a great time, but my Mom attempted to drive her minivan out of the parking lot through the field and got stuck in some deep mud, just no way we were getting out by ourselves. Rather than (rightfully) get mad at the huge ruts we left in their field, the guys in the brewery immediately came out and called to have one of their farm tractors come over and pull us right out, refusing any payment. I'm a fan for life, and I was even before this great act of kindness. Glad to have them close by. read more

I came here this past Saturday for an event which advertised beer, BBQ, live music, raw bar and cornhole. How can you wrong with that combo? It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. There was no beer to taste, just to buy for $5 each. The BBQ was expensive - $12 for some pulled chicken on a wonderbread roll. There was no live music for the 2 hours I was there and I arrived an hour after it started. It is a beautiful spot and the beer is yummy. I had the IPA and the "Flounder" which was a summer beer. So even though it wasn't what I was expecting I did have a good time. I'm not sure what it is usually like on non-event days. read more

Sitting outside in the beer garden after going to the beach is the best! They always have great beers on tap, although they only tap 4 at once. The Buzzard's Bay IPA and the Horseneck Golden IPA are both tasty brews. This is definitely a nice rest stop on a day trip and a good place to pick up growlers for home. read more

Buzzards Bay Brewing - Breweries Near Me - Westport, Massachusetts

This used to be a place to get your growler filled with some delicious beer. They have fixed the inside up wonderfully into a pub , and the outside landscaped wonderfully. It's now a destination brewery . I'm here on Thursday night, outside enjoying some good live music, had a great sandwich from the food truck parked here. There is also a raw bar here with amazing oysters. Outdoor tables, cornhole games being played, and a load of people enjoying this place on a beautiful June evening . Come out here 12 months a year and enjoy! The Moby beer is my favorite! read more

Buzzards Bay Brewing is a sensational little brewery out in rural Westport, Massachusetts. While I visit this place often, spring--fall is my favorite time to go. The brewery itself is located inside huge barn / farm building, while the area just outside of the brewery is massive--plenty of room for activities ;-). During the summer, you can grab a pint at either the bar inside, or the small bar inside of the outdoor tent. Then swing on over to the Fan-cheez-ical food truck for some gourmet grilled cheeses and other delectable foodstuffs. There's always plenty of cornhole (bean bag toss) games happening and plenty of room to breathe in the fresh country air. I always enjoy swinging by after work, listening to local musical talent play, and catching a sunset as I enjoy one (or 5) delicious pints. The staff here is always incredible because they all are passionate about what they do! (at least I hope!). Every time my friends and I go we always end up meeting new folks and having a great time. You need to swing by sometime! Caveats: -- Very traditional style beers... If you're looking for fancy sours, or dogfish style experimental suds, you won't find them here (at the time this review was written, anyway!) -- Beer and some wine only. If you're looking for cocktails, this isn't your place -- The small pub area inside is very small and can get extremely chaotic during the colder months. Totally worth it though read more

The brewery and property itself is gorgeous. I can imagine in the spring and summer it is absolutely beautiful. The outdoor area was really nice and well planned with unique seating areas and expansive space. Worth visiting for that alone. I hate not leaving a good review of this place because people seem to LOVE it. I don't think my personal beer preference is good enough for a bad review, but just to note- I disliked all of the beers I tried (the full flight- March 2017) - they were not for me. Maybe their summer tap list is more my style. I was confused by the flavors, some notes tasted like chemicals to me - it was all a very odd experience. read more

Having relocated to Westport in the last year, this has become part of my weekend routine to stop by for a growler or a case. Something magical about driving up the long crushed clamshell driveway to the big barn of a brewery. The beer is top notch. Better deals in the summer with "drive thru brew" but still economical for the quality of beer sold. My current fav is the Golden Flounder: light and refreshing, and the Saisson: a farmers beer that is on the bitter side with a hint of cranberry. Check back often as they are putting out something new on a fairly regular basis. read more

Summertime in the south-coast, and the living's easy (or so I fantasize about while it's currently Janurary). On a Saturday, take a trip to Horseneck, grab a lobster roll at a local clam shack, and cap the day off with a trip to Buzzards Bay Brewing on the way home. You'll be in Westport, so you could probably squeeze in a trip to the farmer's market in between all the fun while you're there. Buzzards Bay is sizable compared to other local breweries and makes really, really good beer. The location is housed at a beautiful pastoral space with rolling hills ideal for families looking to mingle and enjoy the outdoors while having a beer or two. I recommend getting a flight, something to nibble on from the "fancheezical" food truck and maybe a few bottles to take home to enjoy later. As a lighter beer lover, I have to recommend the "Golden Flounder" as my top pick. The BBB is a must-do for any beer lover in the south-coast area. read more

Great Beer Cool People! There's nothing better than tasting beer from people that are as passionate as the employee's of Just Beer. Went here a few weeks ago and they were having an open hose party with a live band, beer, and a few food vendors. The Beers are all good, from pale ales, IPAs, to Porters. All were well balanced and fresh! This is a true mico brew, done in small batches, and it really comes through the beer. I'm looking forward to returning every time I pick up my wine at Westport Vineyards. read more

Now that I've had a chance to have BBB beer both on tap and from the bottle, I feel researched enough to propagate a few buzzworthy thoughts. The brewery ~ Impeccable, quaint, quintessential Farm Coast charm. The picnic tables outside featuring glowey orange sunlight and wafts of toasted barley is the most alluring place to sit and sip and soak it all in. Inside, the setup is straight forward but too barren to spend any more time in than it takes to peruse the bottled offerings while the bartender readies a flight. The beer ~ Wonderful, balanced, unafraid to be low abv. Seemingly their main attraction, tHeGoLdEnFlOuNdEr is (to my surprise) as light as a Budweiser - but plot twist - actually delicious by way of subtle yummy unfilteredness. Of the standard iterations, you can expect these brews to be refined and quieter in volume. BBB felt like a delightful departure from the obnoxiousness of modern craft brewing and a return to the reason standards became standards in the first place. read more

A little brewery out in the country, Buzzard's Bay makes several tasty brews. I like their Summer Ale. During the summer they are open Th-Sat 11-5 for tours and tastings. Thursday nights are Lager Education Nights. You don't really learn anything, but for $5 you get a pint glass and 2 pours into it. Sweet deal, and they have a community grill so you can bring your own food to grill, hang out on the lawn, and enjoy some beer. The store is also open late (look for Paul, he's awesome) and you'll find better prices here than in the stores that carry their beer. read more

My husband had been wanting to visit Buzzards Bay Brewing, and we were glad we did - and seemed to pick the perfect day too. We stopped in on an early Saturday afternoon (10/10/15) on a picture-perfect fall day. After my husband ordered his flight, we sat outside at a table (one of many different seating options), grabbed a sandwich from the lunch truck, some freshly-shucked oysters from a local vendor, and took in the scenery and the other patrons enjoying their respective afternoons. My husband loved the beer and was surprised by the reasonable pricing for both flights and per pint (as he is a frequent brewery-visitor). His favorite was the Buzzards Bay IPA. The bar staff was welcoming and friendly (the parking lot attendants, not so much). The brewery "campus" is vast and beautiful, and we appreciated all the local vendors that had set-up to sell their goods. They also had a beanbag toss, and lots of space for young kids to run around and blow off steam. Just before we were leaving, entertainment was setting-up - a jazzy older man who called himself "The Silver Fox" - who played music, and who we heard singing and making jokes as we were getting in the car. Would have loved to have been able to stick around to see him perform. My only complaint was that they had only portable toilets available for use. Say what?!?! A brewery that size and of their reputation having portable toilets for customer use is kind of outrageous. And frankly, the state of said portable toilets was horrifying to say the least. I wish I had known before we arrived because I would have gone just about anywhere else when faced with the portable toilet option. It was an awful - AWFUL - experience. Like, YIKES. read more

Great time of year to visit Buzzard's Bay Brewing. The brewery is situated in the middle of the beautiful and historic (19th Century) Long Acre Farm. Once known for its prize cattle and turnips, they're now turning out some world class beer. Among the current releases, they are pouring their own Oktoberfest, and its one the their best. The brewery is open daily, and most nights they have special events. Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday and Team Trivia, etc, and the Fancheezical Food Truck is parked inside the barn, next to the picnic tables and the staging area for the band. Live music Friday and Saturday afternoons. Pretty cool spot, and very cool beer. read more

Good local brew in a bucolic farm setting near the Westport River. Housed in a humongous old barn amidst an active farm (hay and timothy), decent size tap room with darts and corn hole and a small gift shop area. The best feature is the outdoor events on weekends which feature farmers markets and other local vendors, a food truck and often local shellfish. Tables and chairs outside get filled up fast so bring your own or a blanket. Lately there has been a grilled cheese food truck which has oustanding fare. Beware, it takes a looooonnnngg time to order and get food (30 min avg) , so be prepared or bring a picnic. read more

Spotted the brewery last trip to the area, decided to check it out.So glad we did. Such a pretty location, as mentioned by others. Super friendly folks, the beer is top notch. You can just bring your own chairs if you like,(which we did) and plonk yourself down wherever. Food is available but beer is the main star, As it should be. Great place to bring out of town guests For the day. The area is really an under the radar gem. read more

This place is so cool! Whether it's corn hole, darts or just great conversation you are looking for you will definitely find it here. The beer is pretty great too. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Westport! read more

Always a good time! A beautiful setting to enjoy a beer and some food at sunset. Pro tip- get the homemade pickles from the Fancheesical food truck. Buy a glass and bring it back to reuse. Buzzards Bay Brewing - Breweries Near Me - Westport, Massachusetts

This place is amazing. Might be one of my favorite places ever. It combines some of my favorite things: beautiful scenery, old barns, locally made products, supporting small business, the beach...and oh yea...beer! In the summer, they are open like Thursday through Saturday. Sometimes they close randomly or change hours, so check out their website and sign up for the mailing list and you'll get all the info. Their beers are cheap, fresh, local, and generally pretty yummy. I like the Golden Flounder, Horseneck IPA, and MobyD. The IPA is my favorite. It's fresh, hoppy, but not at all overly bitter. A good summer beer. I went through a whole keg of it in my kegorator last summer. They sell growlers, cases of 22 oz bottles, and kegs. All really cheap. I believe I bought half barrel keg (that's a typical "full size" keg) for about $80. Be warned though...they take like a $100 deposit on the kegs, not the usual $40. It makes good sense, but be forewarned. So the way you should do this is head to Horseneck Beach early one Saturday morning, take a right out of the parking lot when you leave, drive by the town beach, turn onto Horseneck Road (maybe grab a bite at Bayside), enjoy the beautiful drive up bucolic Horseneck Road, and get to Just Beer so you have at least a good hour to spend there. Sample all of the beers and then buy your favorite. You could also do their cool drive through thing. You pull up, honk your horn, and a dude loads up your car with whatever you want to order! You could work in a trip to Wesport Rivers Vineyard, right up the street too. By the way, they have GREAT t-shirts too. read more

This place has to be the best microbrew deal in the area. I've been there twice so far and each time the beer selection has been completely solid - the Moby D, Flip Flop (summer) and the chocolate stout in winter are my favorites. The $20 cases they sell out the back door on Saturdays are a steal. read more

New tap room open. Fill your growlers, buy a mixed case or just sot and enjoy a flight or a pint of your favorite Buzzard's Bay local brew.

Staff and guests are chill. Very quiet on Saturday night before NYE. Good beer, only four on tap for tastings. Beautiful atmosphere, relaxing. read more

While visiting the in-laws over Labor Day,and spending an afternoon driving around, we stumbled (literally) upon Buzzards Bay Brewing, for a lovely afternoon of beer and beautiful scenery. The tasting room inside is relatively small, and we kind of felt like we were intruding when we walked in, as it seems to be a gathering spot for locals (which makes sense), but the folks inside were nothing but friendly. We tried a few of their brews, and sat outside surrounded by nothing but greenery, trees..it was fantastic. We will make return visits whenever we are in Little Compton. read more

Still 5 stars for the great tasting quality of this local brewery, but I wanted to update just to say that the $15 deal i mentioned earlier has expired. Now its $25 for 12 22 oz bottles, which is still a pretty great deal. read more

THe Flip Flop was our beer of choice this summer, making stops every weekend on our way home from the beach. Beer is pretty good. People working there are sometimes hard to talk to. I believe they would benefit greatly by creating a hoppy double IPA. I enjoy the outdoor beer garden and food vendors. That's my opinion on the brewery. I would definitely recommend visiting if in the Westport area, but don't make the long trip. read more

Our group of seven stopped in for a tasting on Saturday afternoon. The samples were free, and the woman serving us was extremely friendly. We tried four different beers-- Golden Flounder, Moby D, Not-So-Punkin and an IPA-- and although others in our group really enjoyed them, none particularly appealed to me. I was a little perplexed by the Not-So-Punkin, in fact. It didn't taste like pumpkin, but was it supposed to? The prices on bottles and growlers were very reasonable-- my fiance picked up a 22 ounce bottle of Moby D (a pale ale), a 22 ounce IPA, and a souvenir pint glass (naturally) for around $10. read more
