Got wraps to go (one jerk chicken, one wasabi chicken). Really tasty! Not giving it five stars because it didn't blow me out of the water, but it was really solid. Also nice that this is close to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. You could pick up a great little picnic here at Buxton Munch Co and hang out for the day. read more

The most amazing guacamole quesadilla i've ever put in my mouth! All wraps are delish.

Great locally owned lunch spot. Seems to get busy so get there early. Clean affordable and the food was great.

Great food and fast. and the crew are very welcoming.

Best wraps on Hatteras island. Fun and casual atmosphere! Excellent lunch spot with healthy options!

They serve the best fish tacos. We vacation on Hatteras island every summer and Buxton Munch is one of our favorite places to eat. read more

I have been coming to Buxton Munch for several years. Inside the innocuous shopping center location is a sweet little hideaway with a nice vibe, friendly folks, and very good food. It is a great place for lunch with lots of menu options, super fresh dishes, and excellent service. Our party all ordered fish tacos, we had both blacked and broiled fish; both options were delicious. We especially liked the creamy/spicy sauce. read more

What a great lunch! We had delicious blackened rock fish tacos. Not only were they really tasty but the serving was so generous it will keep me filled way past dinner! Also the dipping sauce was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. The only downer was we were too late for the shrimp and corn chowder- it was sold out! This place is a gem! read more

Service is good. But food it way overrated by the reviews here. The fish for the tacos tasted frozen or just plain overcooked.

Excellent food and friendly service. We have been eating there for several years. Food is plentiful and always consistently good. Best fish tacos anywhere. Very reasonable prices. Best restaurant on island! read more

Great funky place. Very small so a large groups (5+) would have trouble getting seated together, but don't let that stop you worth the wait. read more

Have been frequenting Buxton Munch for years and LOVE IT. Our first lunch stop on our way down the Island. Fun décor, friendly staff and always crowded. One Happy Customer!! read more

OMG, you have got to try the crab cake sandwiches there. This is a hole in the wall with minimal seating. I like to get a crab cake to take back to the beach and eat. They have other good stuff but I always get the crab cake when I am in Hatteras. read more

Umm, I don't know if these people have ever had actual tacos. Like, ever. Because what they refer to as the "best fish tacos" in the area are extremely basic and utterly disappointing. Despite their posted behest to "be patient," I got frustrated while waiting 10 minutes to be seated in the tiny dining room. The décor is fun but odd, clearly curated by an old hippie living out his life-long dream to run a 'laid-back' beach café. At the 30-minute mark, we were presented with a plate of grocery-store bought ingredients emptied out of cans and bags onto a plate. Shredded cheese, black beans, white rice, diced tomatoes, raw onions, iceberg lettuce and a slab of fish that may or may not have come from the freezer; all were presented without love or imagination. The accompanying "fish taco sauce" was pretty much ranch mixed with mayo, and did nothing to enhance the experience. At least there were tootsie rolls thrown into a plastic basket, right next to the foil-wrapped tortillas (which were a little mushy). Hey, we were only there once and we only tried one dish - the dish that they tout as their specialty. But I like to think that I've had a decent array of fish tacos, and this version doesn't even chart. I was recently in Baja, Mexico. My expectations may have been a bit lofty. read more

This is worth driving from Nags Head for. I'm a local and own a business in Buxton. Unfortunately Buxton Munch has a disgruntled ex employee that has posted a negative review, sad that trip advisor allows it. read more

Don't leave OBX until you've had the fish tacos from Buxton Munch. The place is busy for a reason.

Great local business that's been around since I was a kid. Good food and great service. Best tacos and chicken wraps on the island

It's a great place. The blackened fish tacos or really any fish taco is amazing. Beers are good too. Highly recommend. Go early. Like before 11:30 or you'll have a wait. Worth the wait. read more

Came here after visiting the lighthouse for lunch, and I had the shrimp tacos which were amazing! It was more than enough food and very flavorful! The kids cheese quesadilla was also a very generous portion and was enjoyed by my son! I will return to try additional items for sure! The service was also spectacular and everyone was very friendly. read more

The food and service was outstanding! Fish tacos are delicious! Good for smaller groups.

Food was decent. Because of space and/or staffing, they were not able to accommodate our large group, but we ordered take out instead because of good reviews. Food was good but nothing that outstanding. read more

Best Po Boy in town! The prime rib wrap and shrimp avocado quesadilla was delicious!!

Worth the wait! Service is not fast but the food is good and seems fresh. From the outside it doesn't look very special but the inside is very fun and beachy! read more

Great place to eat in Buxton. Great service and the food is fresh and the shrimp taco are wonderful. We will be going back.

Great place and great food! We come here every summer and look forward to the fresh seafood!

Great atmosphere and super-friendly service. We had blackened mahi mahi tacos, which were fantastic.

Absolutely delicious food! Such fresh delicious ingredients. Fish tacos were scrumptious!

Amazing Fish Tacos, Great Wraps, everything is fresh. 60s and 70s memorabilia decor. Definitely, need to put it on your list of places to go. read more

We would have loved to have had lunch here today but we were encouraged to leave since the tables were full and the kitchen was overtaxed. The hostess politely but firmly informed us that we would be better off finding another option for lunch...so we did. Too bad since my husband is vegetarian and this was one of the most veggie friendly menus we found on the island! read more

this is my favorite place. the staff is amazingly nice. from the outside, it looks very sketchy on the outside but it's beautiful on the inside. Once i walked in, great thoughts went through my head about the place. There's a long wait for the food, but it's completely worth it. the place has amazing food for reasonable prices. DEFINITELY would recommend the place it's amazing. so if you're in the area, definitely check it out!!!! read more

This place was great! Busy lunch spot- and the wraps my husband and I had- we could finish our sandwiches. Super friendly staff! If going need to understand the place is small so there may be a small wait for meals- but over all delicious!! read more

We came back here after a few years. The plan was to get a to-go order and eat on the beach. Because of the wind, I decided on a wrap and tried the Bang Bang Shrimp wrap. The was really good and perfect for the beach. read more

Today was my first time dining at the Buxton Munch Co. The food was nothing short of awesome it exceeded my expectations, good food is hard to do this place is on point. I would also like to add that the service is excellent! I came with my girlfriend today and she had the Rock Fish Tacos and I had the Rock Fish Sandwich the fish blackened it was seasoned very well alot of people tend to over do the seasoning it was perfect! This fish was cooked well not over or under it was just right texture flavor everything was good. It was served on a good hogie roll alot of people think that the bread is just a vehicle for what is inside but the bread is a very important part and this bread definitely held up to the protein was toasted well and did not get soggy or fall apart throughout. The fries were nice and crispy also well seasoned. Very nice plate set as well food is an art and this was very beautiful the tacos are served deconstructed on a very nice rectangular plate I love the build your own approach. We also had chips and salsa. The chips are home made and once again seasoned perfectly the salsa is home made and is not too thick or too thin. O am very particular about salsa and this stuff was perfect. The fish tacos a served with a home made hand crafted special sauce that I could literally eat on everything a perfect touch to an already amazing meal. I left wanting just one more bite like a to be continued in a movie you don't want to end!!!! This place is epic!!!!!!!! read more

Amazing shrimp and corn chowder, delicious fish or shrimp tacos....it is our favorite lunch spot on Hatteras island. They are only open for lunch and often busy, so give yourself time to wait and you will be pleased! read more

Quality, original, fresh food. One of the best crab cakes I've ever had. Lots of variety on the menu, fish tacos and shrimp tacos are also amazing. Skip the fried mac n cheese bites, they were underwhelming. I recommend ordering your food to-go as it can get very crowded inside, also the ambience is a bit lacking, TONS of handwritten signs all over the walls with messages such as"BE PATIENT, THIS IS NOT FAST FOOD" and "Be Nice, Be happy, be patient" etc. I imagine they must have been inundated at some point with impatient tourists, otherwise why such redundant (and somewhat rude) signage. That being said, each time I ordered to go food while on my vacation, it was ready in the quotes amount of time with no problem. So if you're looking for a great place to pick up some sandwiches/wraps/salads on your way to the beach, this is a great choice. Oh, also forgot my other reason for leaving 4 stars instead of 5...no online menu!!!! It's 2017! Who does t have their menu on their website??? Fortunately someone had posted a picture of the menu on TripAdvisor and I was able to use that. So if you're reading this and trying to figure out what you want to order, look up TripAdvisor and use that menu. read more

There is no being on the fence about Buxton Munch! Fabulous food, excellent service in a charming location! We have tried many items on the menu and have always been impressed with how clean, healthy, and delicious the food is every time! I strongly disagree with Food C's review about the owner!!! She spent a great deal of time talking my husband and I when we first came to Buxton Munch!!! Over the years I have observed her visit tables and speak with guests. The owner, her husband , staff, and food keep us coming back for more when we are in the area!!!! Thanks Buxton Munch!!!!! read more

Owners- We can do this all day long. This incident is definitely a true reflection about who you really are...Oh, and nice touch on going on Tripadvisor in the past week and finally saying thank you to your customers who gave you positive comments weeks ago when you manage to address negative feedback within 48 hours. Yes, I did call your waitress an idiot, in my comments but not in the restaurant, because while in the restaurant we asked her a simply question and she looked at us, whined some mumbling words and ran off as though she could not speak. And yes, your message was indeed harassing...enough for Yelp to open an investigation about your comments you made about the "Yelp website" itself. For a website that you are trying to get your "customers to boycott", you sure use Yelp a lot. No forgiveness needed here...keep it for yourself. You keep giving reference to me "slandering" your restaurant from August til now, not hardly. I'm just someone who wrote a comment about the service I received and wrote a comment. You decided to write back calling me a liar and accusing me of having bad behavior. What's bothering you is that you are use to berating customers who write negative comments and astonished that someone had the nerve to call you on it. My initial comment was left alone until I saw your feedback. So, if you want this left alone then maybe you should practice what you preach. AND AGAIN...I did pay for my beverage and I left without touching any food, do you get the picture yet? Just because you say it is so, does not make true. read more

My family used to come here every year, but 2012 was the last time we came, so I was ecstatic when I learned that my parents booked a house for August 2016. And for the past 4 years I craved an amazing, delicious, fresh wrap from the Buxton Munch. I woke up on my first day in OBX and strolled into the Munch 15 minutes after it opened and ordered one of my favorite wraps - the Jamaican chicken. My boyfriend, who I had been raving to about this place for the past 8 months, ordered the buffalo shrimp wrap. Neither meal disappointed. Amazing as usual! My whole family missed this place; they all ended up grabbing wraps there before heading to meet us at the beach. The place has expanded since we have been here, to meet the high demand, I'm so happy to see they are doing so well. It's an awesome little place that serves some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted. The service is always friendly and the food is fresh-made with love, so anyone who says otherwise is rude and entitled and clearly doesn't feel the chill, laid-back vibes that hit you as soon as you walk through the door (I happened to read some of the lower star reviews). This place isn't for you then . Keep up the good work! You'll be seeing me all week for lunch! read more

literally, THE best fish tacos on the outer bank. I've tried others who claim they are, but this is my recommendation for folks who want to eat like a local! read more

When in OBX this place is a must!!!! The food is all fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. The homemade sauce that comes with the fish tacos is like nothing you have ever tasted, a secret recipe of the chef. Interior is homey and adorable, with fun triva games to play when sitting at the counter. Has a nostalgic feel but the food is fresh and perfectly cooked. Don't let location fool you...you will be back again and again. read more
