He came back out a few days later and put in a tankless water heater that has worked out great! Worked out perfect --- they got our old one limping along long enough to replace it, so we were only out of hot water for less than a day. Totally understand they are running a business but it's nice to work with folks who focus on doing quality work as opposed to getting dem dollas.

On December 19th, we discovered our water heater was not working. We called O'Neill at 8:30 and…read morethey had a crew at our home by 9:00!! Ricky and Will determined that our leaking water heater was shot and replaced it quickly. Our old water heater was an 80 Gallon size and had been installed in January of 1980! The heater was way too large to be removed by two men (our stairs has a weird turn at the top), so Ricky said it would probably take four guys and he would talk to someone at head office to set that up. By the first of the year, I had still not heard anything, which I put down to it being the Christmas/New Years stretch, but called O'Neill after the new year and the dispatcher told me nothing had been set up, but he would talk to Ricky and then call me back later that afternoon. He didn't. I called the next morning and the dispatcher said that there would be a crew out Monday, January 6th between 9 and ten in the AM. We waited all morning before calling the office and the dispatcher contacted the crew who told him they had gotten really busy and decided to skip our appointment. We were never contacted by the crew. We set an appointment for the next day and I emphasized that the heater was huge and they would need some extra guys. A two man crew showed up the next morning and quickly discovered that they couldn't get it out without extra help. They called HQ and another guy came out and after much pushing and grunting, they got the heater out. I have to point out that everyone I dealt with from O'Neill was very polite, professional and helpful. But the extended period that the old heater sat in my basement and the effort to get it removed was a total cock-up. Despite all that, I would gladly use the company again.

When I signed with the management company, I didn't have any say over this and was not allowed to do any repairs myself. So I was stuck with oneill. First time they came out and installed a new Fluidmaster PRO45 "premium" fill valve, new lever (never seen a lever wear out in my life), and new stopper. That premium fill valve is a $20 part (retail) for which they sold to me for $28--whatever. $450 bucks for this visit. Two months later they came back out to adjust the float level, and charged me again. Uh, you should have correctly set the float level the first time. Even if you didn't, you coming back two months later and charging me again proves you value profit over relationships. If it were up to me, I would have never used them again. Fast forward to a little over 5 years later. That "premium" fill valve "failed" and they installed a new one, over $400. No f'ing way a premium fill valve should stop working anything short of 10 years if installed with half a brain in a regular use scenario. Korky makes a less expensive fill valve with a 10 year warranty. For that same $1,000 these clowns charged me over 5 years, they could have installed two brand new toilets over the same time period. Ridiculous.

The first quote I received was the price of a small, used car to repair a freeze damaged underground water line to my shop. The break was within 1 foot of where it daylighted from underground. At the price quoted, I was debating whether to repair it at all. I then got a quote from MV Plumbing, and it was 15.8% the amount of the other. That is not a typo, or 15.8% discount over the other quote, it was literally 1/6th the amount of the other company. Not sure if they used a different approach to the work or not. They showed up at 8:00 AM, and left at 8:50 AM, so you know they did not misquote the work to be done. I had installed a water meter, so could immediately verify the repair was proper and not leaking. Anyway, this is my 'Go To' plumbing company for sure, and another lesson in why we all need to get more than one quote whenever possible.

I also had a new sink fixture that seemed straightforward to install, but while I had someone out, might as well have them do it. Scheduling was pleasant and we talked through the options and an estimate. I learnt that Mark (whose company was merged) would be coming out, and that sealed the deal, so to speak. (Back then, another plumbing service had done work that was ... needing a professional to fix. Mark and his father came out and took care of that and some weirder things (pressure reducer) with aplomb. Stress level was greatly reduced and led to immense respect for high-quality plumbers.) Fast-forward to 2023. Mark arrives, very pleasant, and walks through the requested work with me. The faucet turns out to be a lot harder because the one it's replacing had rusted/seized, but he gets it done and it looks great. My spouse is pleased. Next up, the toilets. Turns out the leaker was not what I thought it was, but it was simply addressed. The two others were inspected and those are fine. tl;dr: Pleasant folks, professional work, would not hesitate to recommend them.

The one that they replaced it with failed within 5 months and flooded my basement. Also the alarm failed to warn me so I couldn't prevent the flood. I called them and was told that I was out of warranty because it expired at 3 months. It was a $1500 parts and service. Justin came out and looked at it and told me that I was using too much suds in the laundry, That was a $250 visit. I lessened the suds dramatically and it flooded again. A year after the bad pump was installed and ANOTHER flood (3 floods now) I called another plumber to take a look and they told me it was the wrong model and type and replaced it with a better fit for another $1500. It all turned out to be very costly (not to mention the $5000 I had to pay in damages from the floods). They also pointed out that Hans Plumbing did not install the alarm properly as well. The new pump is working like a charm now AND it has a one year warranty on it, as it should. I'm also secure in the fact that the alarm has now been installed properly and will let me know if there is an issue. I'm so disappointed in Han's Plumbing and how they handled the situation. What is sad is that His father, the founder of this company worked hard to keep a successful reputable stance, hence why I believed in them. I was a client of theirs for decades! And now the name is being compromised due to unethical practices as of late, But the happy ending is that I am so happy that I found a good and honest plumber, FINALLY!!! They are awesome!!
