How can you go wrong with a Busy Bee beef dip?!? Or just about any of their sandwiches! This is a San Pedro staple! I used to get the torpedo or turkey avocado as a younger person, which are probably still great! These days, I go with the beef dip with extra cheese and the au jus and marinara on the side. My hubs and I split it. I use the au jus, he uses both. I like getting a pickle cut into spears sometimes, but only on the occasion... and then a big bag of lays and some drinks we wouldn't normally get... a perfect lunch to take down to Paseo and eat at the park! You wouldn't think that a corner neighborhood market would have such great sandwiches, but it does! The guys behind the counter may not be super talkative, but they know their sandwiches! The pastrami dip is awesome too! I know many like the "Belly Buster," but that is too much for me! Haha! If you are looking for big iconic San Pedro sandwiches, this is the place to go! I love this place so much. Came again before a Dodger game. If the sandwiches weren't so messy I'd consider bringing them to eat at the game, but we had half before and half at home after the game. It's been at least a year since our last visit and either my memory has faded or the sandwiches got bigger. My husband was considering getting his usual belly buster, but reconsidered. Worth the price imo because it's two meals! Hot Belly Buster w/ Pastrami + Sausage: I'm usually not a pastrami fan because it's too salty, but this was not salty and tender! the sausage didn't have a casing and was the perfect compliment. Cold Belly Buster w/ Pastrami + Capicola: cold cut was also delicious Luckily we came on a rainy day and there were only 4-5 people in line at a time. Beware - prices on YELP are NOT correct. Most sandwiches are around $15 and while it's fair for the amount of food - you are NOT getting a deal and come prepared as it's cash only. The meatball sandwich and pastrami sandwiches were large and tasty - we each split them and had a bag of chips - but not even drinks for $42. The line wasn't long, so service was quick. Homemade marinara sauce They make the sauce in the morning when it's foggy you can smell it when you're driving around nearby. The people that work there many of them have worked there since they were in high school. This warm and friendly family business is a San Pedro staple sandwiches taste like they did when I was a kid they don't change the way they do things here. So lucky to have a real legitimate old-school Sandwich market if you're visiting, you can skip the line and call ahead but I recommend standing in line because sometimes I hear people order things and I change my order multiple times before I get to the front. This place is a sandwich store with some liquor market items. This place gets super packed and busy once lunchtime rolls around so I highly recommend coming early or brace for a wait. My friends and I got the pastrami and the belly buster (pastrami/meatball). Needless to say, this sandwich is huge and basically almost 2 meals. The pastrami was very good and moist and tender. Not too fatty. The peppers are a nice touch and the sandwich was soft along with the spread. The meatball was apparently the winner out of the two for the belly buster. It's been said the sausages are pretty good too. Parking is free but very hard to find especially on peak meal hours. I'd come back here to try the other items they have. This place has been considered the "go to" place for sandwiches in San Pedro for many years. I lived in SP starting in 1994, and my GF would get them occasionally. They were pretty good and reasonably priced. Apparently started by Italians years back. Hadn't had one from there in many years, but tried them a week ago at insistence of a SP "local" friend of mine. Had their Italian combo..very disappointed. Salami was some of the greasiest I've ever had, cheap ham, tasteless cheese. And the rolls are too large (tall) in my opinion. If you want a "big" sandwich and aren't particular about ingredient quality, I guess this place is fine. They still do a good business I understand. Probably more about its "legacy" than current quality. SP is a town which likes what it likes and goes where they always go. Don't personally understand it. Much better sandwich at South Shore Meat Mkt or deli in Beach City Mkt on Pacific. Will never go back to BB. read more
