Loaded with Cajun turkey, roast beef, avocado, jalapeños, honey mustard and Cajun mayo, there was a lot of flavor packed into every bite. The dark sweet bread pulled everything together and added a nice contrast to the savory fillings. It definitely lived up to the name! The place has a casual, old-school neighborhood deli feel that fits the food perfectly. The portions were generous, and service was friendly and welcoming. So this gem of a sandwich shop popped up on my social media. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich so I saved the post. I went back to it a day later and didn't even realize that it was close to where I live, so I decided to stop by on my way home. Late afternoon 4/20/26. Recently tried a new deli I had been seeing on Instagram -- Baba's Deli NY Style Subs, located on Pacific Coast Highway just west of Hawthorne Blvd in the south end of Torrance. They offer a wide variety of subs, with both preset combinations and a build-your-own option. In addition to sandwiches, they also have homemade salads like tuna and chicken, along with classic sides such as potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw. My wife and I ordered a couple of different sandwiches to try. First up was the Reuben, which can be made with either pastrami or corned beef. They were accommodating and split it for us with half of each -- a nice touch. They use Boar's Head products, so you're getting premium-quality meats and cheeses. The Reuben was served on squaw bread (by request) and loaded with a generous portion of meat, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing. The meat was almost shaved and incredibly tender. The only minor downside was that it leaned slightly dry -- a bit more dressing or mustard would have brought everything together better. Still, a strong 10/10. Next was the Italian sub, which was also well put together with generous portions of meat and cheese, plus lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Very solid. We also ordered a medium potato salad. It was good, though more average compared to the sandwiches. The staff was very friendly and willing to assist with your order, then bring your order to your table . Unfortunately seating is limited inside. Overall, a great experience and definitely a spot I'd return to. read more

I got a custom sandwich and my wife got the Monster. We went on a week day and at lunch, a rush came in right at noon so we were lucky to get ahead of everyone. This place picks up and for good reason. The ingredients were fresh and I really enjoyed mine. My wife said the Monster tasted a bit too sweet, but she can see how people would like it. It just wasn't her style and she'll probably try something else next time. Also, the lady who took out orders was nice and their service was fast. So we've been here 2x now and both times the sandwiches and sides were solid and delicious! It's a nice and clean eatery. You can choose eat in or just take it out as we do. The cashier who takes your order is always friendly and the wait times to receive order is pretty quick. They have a variety of chips and drinks to choose from. My only real let down is it's all bottled drinks - I wish they offered a fresh brewed iced tea. As I can't do the sugar in the bottled drinks. On our first visit, I had the pastrami and my husband had the bbq beef with potato salad (unfortunately I forgot to takes photo). They were both great sandwiches. They are pretty large and for me, one sandwich is two meals. Today we stopped in to just grab a quick snack and we decided to split a hot pastrami and coleslaw. As always fulfilling and delicious! I must admit, this is one of the better coleslaws I've had dining out. However, be sure to check their hours as they do close much earlier then many sandwich spots, which makes it tough to get there for dinner some days. I relied on Yelp to find a deli in the South Bay Area, and based on all the great reviews I decided to check out Baba's. I went with the Monster, cajun turkey meat, roast beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, jalapeños, avocado, honey mustard and cajun mayo on dark sweet wheat bread. I substituted the American cheese with pepper jack, and instead of the dark sweet wheat bread I went with a French roll, and no onions. Baba's uses premium Boars Head meats. The sandwich was loaded with meat and a perfect ratio of toppings. Loved it. I called in my order, and it was ready when I arrived. I'd definitely go back to try the other sandwiches on the menu.
