Seriously my favorite spot. I love the food here. Service is wonderful. It's quick bite to eat, good sized portions delicious healthy food, not the kind that makes you sleepy and sloppy lol. I'm so happy they opened this place in Pedro! Definitely recommend.

New and clean with plenty of parking. Tons of outdoor seating. I gave it 3 stars because the Salmon Bowl was horrible and the BBQ tri tip sandwich was delicious. Salmon bowl - Dry!! Rice was so dry and felt undercooked. Salmon was so dry and not flaky at all. I could make better salmon at home. BBQ tri tip sandwich - Delicious soft bread. Warm. Good flavors. I would get sandwiches over the bowl for sure. Download the app for a free cookie.

It was the best of Urbane Cafes, it was the worst of Urbane Cafes. I honestly wasn't planning to stop by Urbane Cafe in Palos Verdes since it was way out of the way for me to go. However, I got an email announcing their grand opening there. "Oh cool," I thought to myself. The email also announced that if you order a sandwich, salad, or bowl between Jul 11 and Jul 18, you could get a free sandwich, salad, or bowl on your next visit. "Oh cool!!" I thought to myself. I was planning a day trip on Saturday, and I figured I could add a trip to this recently opened Urbane Cafe to my itinerary since it was just down the 110 from where I was at. I had to take the Channel St/Pacific Ave exit, turn right on Gaffey, and go left on Capitol before finally arriving at Western. Urbane Cafe in Palos Verdes is in a strip mall on the southwest corner of Capitol and Western. It appears this strip mall is going to be totally revamped because Google Streets shows a totally different set of businesses there. If you see or know of Sun's Pet Grooming, that is now Urbane Cafe. I hadn't really heard of Urbane Cafe before this year, but instantly became a fan when they opened a location in Long Beach, much closer to me. I love how the team in Long Beach treats all their customers like family, and I especially love the food they make there that I even got to share some with my coworkers via catering order. Unfortunately, I got none of those vibes on my first visit to this Palos Verdes location that I just had to start this review with some Charles Dickens. Since it was their second day of operation, they had a tent just outside the cafe that was supposed to welcome customers, but when I arrived, there was nobody under the tent! They had a table underneath where there were flyers advertising 20% off catering until August 31, Service Member Appreciation Days, and the offer I mentioned earlier in this review. But not having a human element aspect of the welcome tent was really a missed opportunity for some customers like yours truly; I might even argue that it was ominous! I had placed my order in the app because in order to qualify for the free entree, you have to place an order online or in the app; an in-person order wouldn't work, but several customers did this, presumably because they don't have the app yet. For whatever reason, I wasn't given a welcome by any of the employees, but when the other customers entered the cafe, the cashier would say welcome, and the rest of the team would follow suit. But my presence wasn't acknowledged? What am I, chopped liver?! I went to the rear of the cafe where they had 3 shelves of online pickup orders. One bag was already ready, but there were no employees overseeing the online orders. That bag wasn't mine, but since there wasn't any employee there, I could have easily taken that customer's order, which I'd never want to do! They also didn't announce when an online order was ready for pickup, so I had to keep a watchful eye to make sure nobody would take my order. I picked up my order about 4 minutes before my scheduled pickup time, but am not sure exactly when it was ready since, like I said, they didn't say my name when my order was ready for pickup. I sat at a table that wasn't cleaned up after the previous customer even though there were a handful of other tables inside since I'd much rather a family to be eating at a cleaner table instead. It wasn't that busy inside, so I was a little surprised nobody picked up table cleaning duties during my visit. I ordered the Salmon Salad with Chipotle Ranch dressing, which came with a side of focaccia bread. The salad was chock full of leafy greens, which I could tell after shaking the container to spread the Chipotle Ranch around. They could have added a little more of all the other toppings like the salmon, but especially the edamame. The jicama and mango salsa weren't as fresh tasting. The Chipotle Ranch wasn't very flavorful either, and that's one of my favorite dressings! I had to use some sriracha sauce to add some flavor to my salad. And lastly, the focaccia bread was a whole lot of nothing! I know it's just bread, but there should have been *some* flavor at least. Did they forget to brush the oil on top of the bread? Maybe. My only interaction with an employee was when I asked one where the utensils were, but she simply said she included one in my takeout bag. Well okay I guess, but it didn't totally answer my question. However, there were very few customers inside at the time, and I definitely felt like a fly on the wall. The cashier who made her rounds cleaning passed by me a couple times, including when I left, but she didn't even wish me a good day, perhaps a microcosm of the indifference in their service. The Salmon Salad didn't taste bad, but my overall experience at this Urbane Cafe was so lacking that, no joke, I even had to go to Chick-fil-A afterwards to finish my dinner. I doubt I'll return to this location.

Urbane Cafe is now in the South Bay! Today was the grand opening of their newest restaurant in Rancho Palos Verdes. It was my first time to try Urbane Cafe and I was impressed right from the start. I was greeted with a vibrant "Welcome to Urbane Cafe" and plenty of smiles the moment I walked in. Their menu consists of sandwiches, salads, bowls and soups. For this first visit I chose to try their UC Banh Mi and their Mediterranean Bowl. The UC Banh Mi is packed with tender roasted chicken, cilantro, cucumbers, pickled carrots, fresno chilis and pickled white radish. All the fillings are smothered with this amazing sweet chili aioli. For the bread, they use fire baked focaccia bread. That focaccia bread truly makes this sandwich special! It's served fresh and warm and comes out so soft. They make the bread fresh in house. The bread along with the delicious sandwich fillings made for one awesome bahn mi! I would definitely get this again. Equally as good was the Mediterranean Bowl. This bowl comes with mixed whole grain rice, kale, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, hummus and tomato cucumber salsa. I chose to add chicken to my bowl. I was impressed that you could choose what kind of chicken to add (i.e bbq chicken, grilled chicken, cilantro chicken, spicy chicken). I chose to get cilantro chicken and this paired well with all the veggies and hummus. This was one flavor packed bowl! I also loved how this always came with the fire baked foccacia bread. Aside from the food, I chose to get a drink. They offer Dragon Fruit Agua Fresca, Watermelon Lemonade, Old Fashion Lemonade, Iced Tea and Batch Craft Soda. I was a fan of the Dragon Fruit Agua Fresca. It was so refreshing! Last but not least- they have dessert here too! They have fresh baked cookies. Options included chocolate chip, white chocolate cranberry, oatmeal and chocolate. I tried the chocolate chip and it was the perfect treat to wrap up a good meal. I am so happy to see them in Rancho Palos Verdes. Though this was my first visit to Urbane Cafe ever, I know it won't be my last.

The food tasted fresh and delicious, even though we took it to-go! Despite looking busy from the outside, the service was impressively quick and efficient. Overall, a great experience! (Salmon bowl doesn't contain dressing in the picture, my own preference)

Was pleased to come into Urbane Cafe on their grand opening day! It was pretty busy but luckily didn't need to wait too long to order, I ended up ordering the Baja bowl but was heavily debating between that or a sandwich, I can confidently say I couldn't have gone wrong with either choice! The bowl was absolutely delicious I finished every last bite, if I were gonna change it at all I would probably just add salsa next time to make it spicy! My group all got sandwiches and I was able to taste test them all and they were all soooo yummy, & the bread is truly amazing! We also had to try their chocolate chip cookies, and those were absolutely perfect in every way, I will literally be back just for those! I also tried their dragon fruit lemonade and it was super tasty, it's safe to say everything was a near 10/10 & I will 100% be looking forward to coming back! :) Side note- the customer service was impeccable, very friendly and inviting environment!!

It's wild how people write a whole novel tearing apart a brand new restaurant that's been open for, what, two weeks? And the complaints aren't even about the food! it's about the sign not being clear or not being greeted under a grand opening tent. Seriously? I had a normal visit to a brand new business finding its rhythm just fine. No chaos. No disasters. Just a team doing their best. All smiles and hellos! Newsflash: opening a restaurant is hard! People need to stop nitpicking over font sizes or how much edamame is in a salad and offer some grace and encouragement. The sense of entitlement is just unreal. These nitpicky rants read more like auditions for "Yelp Critic of the Year" than helpful reviews for normal people! It's only hurting the very people trying to build something good for our community. I'm a working mom with two kids and barely any time but that's how strongly I felt. We should be welcoming new spots to our street, not tearing them down. The staff is kind. The food is good. Keep going, Urbane Cafe. We see you.

We had a Chimichurri Steak sandwich, Organic Tomato Bisque Soup Cran Brie Turkey sandwich and amazing Watermelon lemonade!

Only in the last decade or so, I started hearing about the great sandwiches at Tucker's yet I only went in for Lotto tickets thinking that if I won sometime, it'd make for a good story. "Back to his roots, David K. wins Powerball..." Well, I am in charge of a lotto group of 14 families and we WON in December 13th's drawing! 4 numbers, not including the Powerball. A whopping $447 and they put it on the wall and everything! And we decided as a group to roll that into last night's drawing in addition to our usual buy in...and we won $56 dabnabit! But I was feeling pretty good about winning the 4 numbers so I decided to order up some sammies for the family. The boy and I decided to go splitsies and share the Turkey Avocado on Squaw Bread and the Pastrami Hoagie. The wife ordered the BLT. The staff are nice, friendly and efficient. It didn't take long at all to whip up 3 yummy sandwiches. The wife enjoyed her BLT and I had my half of the Turkey Avocado yesterday and it was great. The squaw bread was particularly fantastic. I had my half of the Pastrami today and heated it up in the toaster oven. I really enjoyed it and would definitely get sandwiches here again. It looks like all the meats are high quality Boar's Head products. And I enjoyed the bread the Pastrami was on as well. Prices are inline with other sandwich places. The market itself is jam packed with all sorts of snacks/drinks and goodies. They even sell ping pong balls and dice. I look forward to trying more on the menu next time!

It came with a cilantro sauce as well as some pickled red onion. I also tried the turon pancakes which had slices of jackfruit on top to give it an extra Asian flair. There is seating indoors and outdoors. I had the thin mint iced latte which was good and not too sweet. There were lots of flavor options for lattes. They had a kids menu as well and lots of side options. There were lots of Korean-inspired dishes as well like Kim chi fried rice. There was an entire menu just for different breakfast burritos. The turon pancakes really tasted like the real caramelized turon. It had a nice sticky syrup on top that wasn't too sweet. The pancakes came super hot and were fluffy. The portion size was great. The cilantro sauce on the burrito was delicious. The pickled veggies added nice acidity that I appreciated. The bad: I don't know if there was any parking other than street parking. We parked right out front which was 1 hour parking and to the side is 20 minute parking. The interesting: You order and pay at the counter and the food gets brought out to you. I saw they had fresh cookies baked as well. Inside, there were festive balloons. I am not sure if it's always there or if they were from a special event. I've tried their catering company too and it was great! I really love how both the cafe and catering company use fresh flowers on their food to elevate their presentation.
