We had heard so much about the hamburgers we decided to get it a try. When we walked in we noticed the dining area was very small but still could fit half a dozen tables. The ambiance is a very small town cafe and the decor was nice with a country flair. It was great! Just what I would expect in a small town cafe. We looked over the menu which was full of choices. Wednesday through Sunday they have a full Mexican menu. My wife and I really enjoy Mexican food so we opted for that option. My wife ordered the combo Fajitas and I ordered the Chile Relleno. They were both great! We were so hungry we forgot to photo the food before it was gone. The regular menu looked really good also, with lots of good choices. The burgers come in half, and full pound versions. I prefer smaller burgers but our friends highly recommend the burgers so we need to come back on a Monday or Tuesday so we won't be tempted by Mexican Food choices. The prices are reasonable and quantity is generous. Our waitress was very attentive but didn't hover over us. She came by several times to check on us and was behind the counter where we could easily signal her if we needed anything. My family and I stood for half an hour, waiting to be seated, all the while, mind you, waitresses were busy shuffling past us the whole time. The guy at the counter (owner?) saw us there too - my son asked him for change to buy a gumball from the machine (which was out of order & took his money). No one told us it was up to us to find a seat - you couldn't see the "seat yourself" signage from our perspective. How embarrassing!!! This was a pleasant surprise. A tiny cafe in a tiny town having great food. Had the hamburger and onion rings. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Onion rings were huge and made to order. I recommend if you are near maypearl. I forgot to take pictures! The three stars was for bad service and bad atmosphere. They were out of eggs. For a hole in the wall, this place is pretty good. There burgers are good and big! I usually get the patty melt.

Food in the cafe is DYNAMITE. Order a burger and onion rings and you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is small-town restaurant vibe at it's best. It's old and broken-in feel is 100% authentic. I haven't been to the bar/venue in the back but I'm tempted to make the drive just to check it out for karaoke or a live band. read more

for what it is its perfect. the ambiance is great, very rustic and country. place has been there forever. people say country cooking is the best. well i grew up half of my life around the countryside near waxa/maypearl and i can tell you that its bullcorn bc country restaurants tend to mostly use canned food and frozen meat off the sysco truck or the walmart grocery store. that being said, the busy bee manages to make good mexican food, great salsa, great burgers/fries and good fried catfish. they have a bar in the back and sometimes live music on weekends. for a town of a few hundred its on par. and i like being called "hon" and "sweetie" and "darlin" read more

For small town dining it's pretty much the low end of the stick. Menu is overpriced for mediocre food. Waitress seem to be more interested in their phones than the guest. Very rude set of sisters ignoring all customers. I had to ask for our menus and we had a decent table for a tip 4 adults. Ordered queso no chips ordered drinks and the dirty cook brought them out. How does this nasty place stay open and when does the health department come in? In the back there is a dirty port a potty that actually is a bathroom. I have only been there a few times and for the most part the food is really good and on the weekends they have karaoke and live bands on Fridays and Saturdays but DAMN is it smokey in there...its really small and it gets crowded fast. read more

I wish there was a less then one selection. We ate here last weekend.. the restaurant is in poor repair, dirty ,DIRTY. If you sit in the back of the restaurant you can see the NASTY kitchen. Burger was solid salt, chicken was burnt, gravy was more like axle grease than a condiment. I believe the entire staff has given up and just plain doesn't care. read more

We typically go for breakfast and it's all been great, try the french toast if you get the chance. Hmmmm...Small Town Diner. Floors look like they haven't been swept in months. Staff is... well, really what you expect from small town diner staff. Friendly in an Alice from "Mels Diner" kinda way. Not a fan of being called "sweetie" or "darlin". Menu is very interesting. You can only get the Mexican half of the menu on the weekend and even then on certain hours. You can only get fried catfish on Friday afternoon but grilled catfish is always on the menu. They do have the best burger in Maypearl, but today I opted for Turkey and swiss club. I made a bad decision smothered in mayo and barely toasted bread. Next time I am forced to endure the busy bee I'll stick with the burger. read more

I went in because the pizza place in front was closed. I was really hungry and went inside to try it out. I ordered the grilled catfish, which came with fries. I also ordered a coconut pie for desert. The catfish filet was very small, pan fried, not grilled and covered in oil. The fries had been fried in old oil and tasted of oil. Both portions were skimpy. I know you have to make a profit, but you also have to balance that with providing some value to the client. The slice of pie was pedestrian, at best. Surely from the supermarket down the street. In general, the food was bad, the place dirty, and a very poor value. Avoid this place. read more
