We purchased a medium-sized staff to be installed in our attic. The Busse's representative chose to carry the safe up two flights of stairs by himself. In the process, he knocked a hole in the sheetrock on the stairway landing, dented and scratched our hardwood floors in several places, and damaged the threshold trim of a doorway. I have no idea why he did not have a helper and did not use the machine that walks the safe up steps. He was a true homewrecker! read more

My motorcycle and boat needed extra keys made. Nobody and I mean nobody could cut them. The big box retailers for home improvement stores, hardware stores, and even a few locksmiths said the keys needed a blank that they either didn't have or couldn't get. Had used their services before. Sent an online message via their website two weeks ago asking to hire them for another service. No reply. Today called the # I had for them in my phone and the guy who answered was like "um this is a locksmith and it's my personal cell phone". I hung up and won't be using ya'll again. It seems they have every key blank known to humanity in their shop! After searching unsuccessfully for someone to cut some keys for my RV, Busse's was recommended by another locksmith. I emailed them via their website, received a prompt reply asking that I stop by the shop. When I arrived and presented my keys, the friendly person helping me acted like it was no big deal. Terrible customer service! I emailed over a week ago about a quote for locks on our doors. Laura notes that she would follow up with me in a week. A week passed and I followed up after not hearing from her. I shared what my request was and asked her to pull up the email that I sent. She also noted that they were working on half a staff, which I can completely understand given what's going on in the country. I expressed my understanding to her. Nonetheless when I expressed my interest in the items that I wanted to purchase, she decided to "take me on a mental exercise" (her words not mine) of why these locks are "overkill" for a home. (Mind you, I've done the research and have consulted with my resources to confirm that the product that I'm requesting is what I want) I asked for the quote and noted that I'm only interested in the specific locks that I mentioned. She still resisted and continued to want to educate me on the locks noting how expensive they are. Mind you--she never suggested another brand or noted that she wanted to still help. She kept resisting on giving me a quote for what I asked for. She never said "I can still give you a quote for this...but let me recommend another brand..." or anything like this. It was very clear at this moment that she did not want to help me at all. I then said, I'm calling based on your reviews and recommendations--but this isn't what I expected. She told me that I was more than welcome to go with a competitor. I laughed, said "thank you" and got off the phone. In this economy, I would think that a small business would want my business and the recommendation that comes with it. I guess that's not the case,here. read more

Went here on a recommendation. Glad I did. Great Service. I had a car key worn down to almost nothing. It took about 25 mins but they were able to figure it out. The bigbox store machines were not able to match the worn key profile, but they were. Vast amounts of key templates, never knew how many there were. I would highly recommend them and they sell safes in the store as well, larger kinds but non the less. Great website, informative!!!! read more

Been here twice now. I like to support locally owned businesses and it makes sense to go to Busse's for keys. They copy keys for around $2.50 and they can do it in under 30 seconds for a standard house key. I don't know if that's normal but it impressed me since I have usually used the key machines outside walmarts and it costs $5-10 and it takes 2-3 mins. Plus the humans are nice at Busse's read more

Bought. new door hardware for our 33 year old house. Took the new door locks to Busse's. Cameron did a great job helping me re-key all the locks. In addition, he was able to help me "customize" a deadbolt combination that I need for my front entrance door. Very knowledgeable young man and a big help. The business does have a big set of "policies" prominently displayed behind the counter that may sound "intimidating". Not really sure why they need to have those written in that manner. However, I would recommend Cameron as a big help for your locksmith needs. read more

Beware of hidden charges! While the customer service was great when I ordered our new lock and door handle, I was shocked at the installation and overall add-on fees. I purchased a lock and handle for $250, and changed my mind about the color, but was not informed there would be a $75 fee for restocking until the bill came. The trip charge was $60 which I assumed covered at least some of the labor, but there was an additional $90 installation fee. The total came to almost $500! I called back to ask for some compensation and they refused to give me any. I would go to R Jacobs Fine Plumbing and Hardware in the future, where customer service is awesome before and after your purchase. read more

LOOK NO FURTHER, this place is the best! Both of my Toyota keys broke and I called several different places for estimates for cutting new keys. The Toyota dealership claimed ~$300 and other local locksmiths/key places claimed $95-$175. I voyaged to Busse's after my mom recommended that I check it out before I forked up some serious cash and they cut both of my keys for $7.31. A literal fraction of the cost of the other places. They were very friendly and helpful. I'd almost break my keys again on purpose just to repeat this interaction. GO HERE!!! read more

I broke an old but necessary key and it was the only one I had. Luckily it was a pretty clean break and they were able to cut a good copy from the two pieces for under 5 bucks. Busse's has been around for a long time and it's easy to see why. It can also be hard to find a locksmith these days with a brick and mortar location. Spent 3 hours traveling to 7 places in Raleigh trying to find a locksmith that actually rekeyed deadbolts/keyed entry knobs that I had on hand (as opposed to installed in doors). This place was the first in the Raleigh area, and had quick, inexpensive, but quality service. Had my 4 deadbolts/knobs rekeyed in 90 minutes! Loved their setup- looked like a real locksmith's place with key blanks lining the wall and safes around. Will definitely be coming here for any future locksmith needs. read more
