I was locked out side when the smart key batteries failed. John responded to my call immediately and made it across town in about 15 minutes. This was appreciated because it was 29° out and I had just arrived home from vacation. John assessed the options, and got me inside very quickly through a back door without a smart key. Although he did have to drill out the cylinder in the deadbolt, he was able to replace it & rekey it on the spot. I'm comparison, when I called the only locksmith open at 7:00 am when I arrived home, he showed up with a crow bar and his solution was to break the door frame then drill out the smart key and replace it with deadbolt. My access to security and 'peace of mind' began with finding 'Access Lock & Key!' I needed to have 3 doors in my home rekeyed and decided to do an internet search and call for several quotes. My first two calls connected me with dispatchers who said their field person would call me back. The first field person who called me back couldn't even tell me the name of the company he worked for, only that he received a dispatched message via Google. We live in an older house that has had many tenants over the years. One of the bedroom doors had a strange lock with a key that disappeared over the transitions from tenant to tenant. Recently, we had a guest stay with us and on the Sunday morning he needed to leave, the lock engaged with some of his stuff inside the room. I don't often write reviews, but John really was that great. I called him at 12:38 - he diagnosed the problem over the phone and gave me the estimate (85 trip visit, 15 for parts). He was at my house an hour later and fixed the problem quickly and charged what he said he was going to charge (plus tax). John was respectful of COVID by saying he was vaccinated but would have no problems wearing a mask if we desired (and we did) and then explained when he was done what probably caused the problem with my lock. John with Access Lock and Key completely saved the day. I was looking for help with a busted front door double-cylinder lock that I assumed was damaged beyond repair. The first locksmith I called came out and attempted to charge me over $100 to get the job done. This quote was laughable especially considering the ~$50.00 he attempted to charge me as his contractor's fee. I refused his service and set about doing the job myself. To be brief, I failed. I then went with my better judgment and called John based on his previous Yelp ratings. John came within an hour of my phone call and completely repaired my faulty inside cylinder. Then while testing his work to make sure the job was done John noticed the outside cylinder was snagging on the key a bit and requiring much more effort than expected to lock. John took it upon himself to take the lock apart again and re-pin the outside cylinder as well! Lastly, as John was double checking his work for a second time he saw that my standard door knob lock below my double cylinder bolt lock was also a little finicky. John tightened up this lock as well as well as the latch on the frame to make sure that it caught smoothly. I was personally thankful for John's diligence and the amount of knowledge I was able to absorb from watching him work. John came the same day I called which I didn't expect and charged me less than he quoted me because he was able to fix a broken doorknob lock. He was also here early and finished quickly which means a lot because I have often had people scheduled to do work at my house and they don't show up or show up late.
