We love Bushido Martial Arts Supplies! My son recently started a new karate class, and we needed to find all of the appropriate gear quickly. We found everything we needed right here. His karate uniform, sparring gear, and even his new bag came from Bushido. This is a really nice family-run store. When you first walk into the store, you instantly see all the cool knives and self-defense items in glass cases. The clothing, sparring gear, and books/video section are well organized in this great little store. The selection is also truly amazing here! Being new to karate in general, I knew I needed some help in finding the correct gear. Everyone was so friendly and helpful here. Since my son couldn't go with me on this visit to the store, I was so glad I could exchange items that didn't fit. The following day, I was able to bring in my son before his class started. A very patient and knowledgeable salesperson fit him with the correctly sized helmet so he would be prepared to start sparring in his class later that day. I was all also able to buy myself a pair of boxing gloves that work well in my new kickboxing and Krav Maga classes. The gloves are of a much nicer quality and are a lot more comfortable than the ones I previously owned. It's rare to find people like him in the world today. While we could have bought these items on-line at their website, there is clear intrinsic value meeting with Josh to face to face where he clearly explained each item we wanted to buy across their large inventory of products. I live out of state and was looking forward to purchasing some items at the store on Saturday, March 21 (today). The phone message stated the Saturday hours were 10am - 4pm. I arrived at 2:30pm to find the store closed with a sign in the window stating Saturday hours until 2pm. I am very disappointed. I went out of my way to shop here only to find they are not thorough regarding something as basic as store hours. I even called the store phone number only to get voice mail. Last week, I was in need of a Kung Fu uniform and was concerned that I might not find one. I found this place online during my google search and it was a hidden gem. I called the establishment and they were super helpful and told me to come in. My only concern was that there is no sign or notification to help you distinguish them from any other building in that location. Apparently they are not allowed to post anything outside. So if you are a person that needs land marks I suggest you park and walk over to the general area. Outside of that, this place is awesome. A gentlemen came and greeted me along with his friendly four legged friend. He remembered my call early that day. He helped me find the uniform and suggested I try it on. There changing room was clean. Actually the entire store was clean, well stocked and had everything and anything you might need for martial arts. The gentle man was very personable and offered services for anything else I might need. The place was so awesome that I gave all my classmates and other students their information. I was in Bushido in line behind the last reviewer and I strongly disagree with her experience. Rather than pulling her son aside to assist him in trying on the gear, she insisted that the only employee working put on her son's gear. Despite what the customer stated, the employeee wasn't rushing her, but was being considerate of others who were waiting in line. This customer was being rude to the employee, who still maintained his composure. We were able to buy our gloves without issue. The way how this website is design is just horrible. I always have a problem with my order when it comes shopping at busido such as; they can never charge my card, they would usually screw up on mt order, and I can never make a purchase online. This website is not on date whatsoever. My sensei and I would always try calling them but they would never put the items that they have in stock up on their website until the next couple of weeks... I just had a previous order where they messed it up and overcharged me. They even messed up my order for a 8.5oz gi too! read more

Wow. Chad, the owner, was our first contact and he is as good as it gets. My 7 year old son and I walked in on a Saturday and although half a dozen regulars were in there, he instantly made us feel at home. He was friendly and professional, helping us when we needed it but letting us browse even though it was a half hour to closing time. My son was in a wonderland, mesmerized by the bo staffs, the knives, all the cool and amazing stuff in the cases. This was right before Christmas and it was good to get an idea of what he liked. This store is very forward thinking. Our dojo in Laguna, USSD, hooked us up with a card so our purchases are all on the account here and that's really smart. We would shop here anyway for the convenience and selection (which is amazing) but what really makes this place special is the knowledgeable staff. They knew what size bo staff for my child. He spent time discussing the various types there were and explaining why he might want to consider one over another. On another visit, my husband bought all his sparring gear and a cool bag with a dragon on it to put it all in and he had the same great experience. I have no doubt that we'll be back again and again to purchase from this store, either online or in person but especially in person because it's always so fun to go in and browse. This location is freeway close and around the corner from Pretend City so easy to find. Fast, experienced service in a clean, well organized store make this a real find. I am really sad to have to write this review. As a now former faithful customer I have to state a number of things that I am truly disappointed with concerning Bushido. I used to be a frequent and happy customer and even recommended a long list of martial arts, schools, and fellow stunt people to this store. The staff was friendly (specially Jake and Matt I believe their names are) and always had a great time with all of the inventory to choose from. My last two visits I was met with the most disgusting form of discrimination I had ever faced in a while. The store "manager" is this older lady that for my last two visits had someone follow me around the store and literally stand over my shoulder while I shopped around. She always made both me and my guest that I brought feel very uncomfortable and would only focus on me. Even with other people in the store she would always watch me and have someone else watch me. Being a business owner and working professional I found this behavior very disheartening and unnecessary. Especially since everyone else in the store seemed to be cool with me and actually know me from the many, many times I frequent the store and the literal thousands of dollars I've spent there. I truly hurts me to write this review because I loved this place and always recommended it but now I will be changing my view and attendance to this business. The corporate office should really look into hiring someone more suited for the job. read more

I bought a Bushido Judo Gi size 5, I took it home and washed it in cold water, threw it in the dryer to shrink it as I'm always in a rush and want to make sure my Gi is always ready to go to the dojo. I'm 5'10" 160lbs and it was still a tad big after drying it. Now, knowing how much it actually did shrink, I would have gotten a size 4 instead. Place is set up very nice. Managers are very polite. Hope this helps someone pick out their Gi size correctly. read more

Not only was he extremely accomodating, but very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile. He even made me aware of the host of services that Bushido offers outside of the martial arts arena.
