I went to the store in person a couple times early and at lunch, but they have a 'max persons allowed' kind of thing going on and I couldn't wait long during my work breaks, so I was unable to go down and do anything, but I appreciate the sentiment offered to me. Some places make you feel like you don't belong if you ask questions. That's not the case here at all. I walked in with no experience, and they took the time to help me understand everything. I left not only with the right parts and modifications for my AR-15, but they even installed everything for me. Since then, I haven't gone anywhere else. Their knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to help are unmatched. I also purchased an FCU for my SIG P320 from them they were the only shop on the island that had one, and they priced it fairly without trying to overcharge. I've bought hundreds of rounds of ammo from them as well, always at great prices--some of the best I've seen on the island. Most recently, I purchased a CZ Shadow 2 Compact, and it arrived on island in just two days. What really sets them apart is how well they educate their customers. They took the time to fill in my knowledge gaps and made sure I fully understood the pistol before buying it. That level of service is rare. Outstanding group of guys professional, knowledgeable, and very military-friendly. Highly recommend.

I've been to most knife shops in Honolulu, and Gene has by far the best selection when it comes to automatic OTFs (out-the-front), flippers, manual folders, and fixed blades. Sure there are other stores with a larger quantity of knives than HGS, but Gene seems to have picked the best in terms of both the high end (Microtech) and affordable/mid-priced (Cobra Tec) categories. The instructors were very friendly, informative, and really patient with newer firearm owners. The classroom was large, comfortable, and of course had cold A/C!! They have a shooting range on property, it was only a 2 bay shooting range. So while I waited for my turn, I browsed around the store. They had reasonably priced ammo. Also, I like how they displayed the firearms on the walls and you can actually handle them without employee assistance. But if you have questions, the employees will happily answer them for you! There was a lot of firearm inventory, pistols, AR15s, AK47s, shotguns...my kind of "candy store"! Haha! When it was my turn for the range, I like how they had different pistols you can try. I think you can bring in your own pistol also. Passed my hands on and got my certificate! I'll definitely will be back to take the CCW class, the instructors made it fun for us.

OGC has also partnered with High Roller Guns in Vegas and they have a website with a ton of different manufacturers to choose from. I couldn't find the brand I wanted locally so online I went. It couldn't be simpler. Look for what you are looking for, pay for it online and then have them send it to OGC. The day OGC got it in hand, I get a call from Brad. I go down, confirm the item and get the purchase receipt from him. Take the receipt to HPD, jump through their hoops, wait the 14 days, go back to HPD to get your permit to acquire and off you go back to OGC to pick it up. When I went back to OGC, Brad was there to assist me and was total professional and guided me through the necessary form for the transfer fee. Paid the fee, double checked the serial numbers, and I got my item in hand. Now back to HPD to register it. I just want to say that Brad was super friendly and professional and it's because of this, and the simplicity of going online to get what you want, that I will go back to OGC. They (High Roller Guns) also have ammo for sale and that gets shipped free without credit card fees. So if you check online weekly, you will find the caliber you want and so long as you can wait a week or two for it to come in, they have the best deals in town. The ammo gets shipped straight to OGC.

We did not have a good experience here :(…read more First of all, finding this location put us on guard. The neighborhood is sketch. According to their website, $50 membership is required. This establishment typically has customers that bring their own firearm so then there is a lane fee of $25. Also on their website, they offer a discount on the lane fee if you go a certain day, certain time, and show your Hawaii ID. Well we went there meeting all three criteria but didn't get the discount as advertised. Kinda sucked but oh well. After we signed the required forms, the guy had us pick out the target sheets we wanted. Then we were required to watch a safety video, which we couldn't hear loud and clear because of people talking around us. The employee then told us about the two door entry way to the lanes and being mindful not to let the noise get into the showroom. We picked a lane and laid our rifle bag on the bench. Strangely, the bench started rolling forward into the lane which didn't seem safe so we moved to another lane. We got our firearms situated on the bench that didn't roll and then tried to hang our target sheet but it was missing a clip and the cardboard was very worn, so we moved to another lane. There were empty shells all over the floor, maybe we were expected to sweep up after others but no one said anything. We shot up all the ammunition we purchased and then we were so ready to leave, disappointed. Of all the discrepancies, the main reason for this 1 star review was an intentional hazard caused by a young employee with arrogance. From the moment we walked into the showroom, he did not want to serve us. Since the only other employee was already with a customer, this young guy reluctantly came to our lane when I asked him nicely to show us loading our new shotgun. After he loaded the shotgun, he left the range. It wouldn't shoot so I went back to the showroom to look for him. As if he KNEW that something bad would happen, the young guy was NOWHERE to be found. So I waited patiently for the only other employee to finish his customer. Guess what, the shotgun shell was jammed! The older employee needed to retrieve a tool from the showroom to safely dislodge it! God forbid an explosion happened. To the young guy who loaded the shotgun incorrectly and intentionally caused risk of harm, I pray for you. Whatever causes your arrogance and ill intent, may God release you from all that and forgive you. This is not the kind of business that needs bad employees. We do not want anything like this dangerous episode to happen to anyone. We did not enjoy this experience. There was a serious lack of personnel and communication. We were put in an unsafe situation.
