Busby's doesn't Disappoint. I've reviewed this business before. The last review was "5 Star". We have been with Busby's for 30 years. They stand behind their people and their products. They conduct business in a timely manor with professionalism. Recently we had trouble with our system from Helene. We are club members so we were seen fairly quickly. We met Kyle Conrad. What an excellent service provider for Busby's Heating and Air. Kyle is friendly and knowledgeable; he works efficiently and is very thorough. We will request him for any future concerns. I want to start with the technician who came out was very nice. However, that's the only good part of our experience. We were given an appointment with the time frame of 11am-6pm. At around 5pm we received a call asking to change our appointment, so I spent my day off waiting the entire day at home waiting for someone to show up. We had to change our appointment. When they came to our appointment, a few days later, we were quoted $450 to unclog our drain and tried to sell a few things to us that were not necessary. We ended up unclogging the drain for free by ourselves (seems to be a very common problem with a very simple fix if you have a shop vac). The prices of this company seem to be very extreme and not worth the money. Very disappointed. Will be using a smaller company in the future when having problems with our HVAC. read more

Amazing, locally owned--very generous organization. I recently collaborated with Busby Health and Air Conditioning on a project, and they delivered! I highly recommend this locally owned and operated HVAC company for any of your HVAC needs. Their site was under construction when I visited, but it is neat and orderly. My floor is now damaged because when we had our AC display updated, they didn't tell us the unit was leaking or had any other issues. Now it's blowing hot air and we are contacting other businesses that don't charge an arm and a leg for a display and damaged flooring because no one notified us our unit had a leak. read more

I would not recommend Busby's Heating & Air to anyone. Frankly there are several issues, from delayed response when my units go out to the increased number of unit issues we've had since we signed up for their loyalty program. Even when they do come (after 2 weeks of no AC) it takes days for their technicians to fix the issue... I'm over it at this point. I have an infant in my home who hasn't been home a week yet and no one has bothered to call us back about the lack of cool air our unit is blowing in the summer. read more

A/C Heater quit working. Called and scheduled and appointment which was a week later. The young technician came out and inspected the unit. Said the blower motor bracket was broken. Said he could not identify the AC unit because it was old and there was not label inside the unit in my crawl space. and he couldnt find the correct replacement part. He tested the freon and the valve messed up (common problem). Instead of capping the valve until it got fixed he let all of the freon run out. Was quoted a rough estimate of about $2500 to replace freon. The tech really pushed for me to replace my outside/inside units and gave me a rough ballpark estimate of 10-12 thousand dollars. These people will never come near my AC/Heater again. read more

Had Mack, Francisco and Wylan out to replace AC and Furance . Took all day as expected, old out and new in, and never stopped working till almost dark. It was an unfortunate transaction for us. We called Busby for an AC maintenance before summer arrived. The technician didn't clear the drain line and it flooded the ceiling above our kitchen. They sent out another technician whom fixed the issue but also replaced a part. Now we had to deal with getting the ceiling fixed. It took about a month for the crew to come and do this. Unfortunately, they cut out a very small bit of the soaked drywall and when brought to their attention we were told 'I've been doing this for 50 years". They had to do a texture look and repaint, it looks ridiculous. So, no, I couldn't possibly recommend this business. read more

Requested a service call on February 21 got an appointment on March 1 but was told they would try to work me in sooner. Service Mech came out on March 1 (Thursday) and found a failed Condenser Fan motor. Mech told me there was a motor in Columbia and might get it in by Friday or Saturday since they make a run for parts daily. Called Busby's Monday but the part was not in. They called me back that the part came late Monday (3 working days). Service Mech came out on Tuesday March 6 and replaced fan motor. Mechanic was polite, professional, and skilled in his work. But scheduling and procurement failed miserably to meet my expectations. From February 21 to March 6 I was without my AC/Heating unit but thanks to my Gas fireplace we made it through the cold nights. read more

I have to update my rating for this company. After the previous exchange on Yelp (below), Busby's wrote me an extremely nice letter and refunded the cost of the service call. I'm very pleased (and maybe a little shocked, but in a good way.) Thanks! ****************************************************************************** Be Warned. They've been both good and bad.... The Good -- individual repair guys have gone above and beyond. The Bad --- the bill is sometimes not what you expect it to be. I recently had an HVAC unit fail. They came out to fix it, and told me it really needed replacing. They also said if I bought a new unit, there would be no charge for the service call. Since my old HVAC was 21 years old, I went ahead and purchased a new, godawful expensive system. The bill arrived, showing both the new unit and the old service call. I called to ask the accounting people about that and was told "If you paid for the service call at the time of the call, AND bought a new HVAC then we credit it back. Otherwise you have to pay for both." This seems like a cheesy way to make an extra few hundred off of a customer who is spending thousands already. read more

Very disappointed. I was originally told 8-12, called spoke to Hakeem who told me the tech was on his way, but later received a call from a lady who said the tech had a family emergency. Finally a tech arrives by the name of Lester who smelled horrible, and I sure didn't want him in my home. but, because of the aggravation managed to deal with the horrible scent. My late father had a new system installed the heating has never worked right, they did come out during the warranty period and a few times after, but still it does not work right, at least the AC is good, I will say that. I just got another new thermostat the third, this cost me nearly three hundred dollars, finally I let the man who put in our other units, now retired, look at it although upward in years, he said it was not installed right, something about the way it was installed that causes the gas flow to cut off. I have launched a complaint with the BBB, of course nothing will be done about it. Let this be a warning, avoid Busby, try Olin Plunkett or some other company. Went to the Augusta Home & Garden show yesterday, Busby's was there, spun a wheel at their booth for a prize...won a pen. They would not give me the cheap ass pen unless I gave them my name and email address. They got neither from me at which time they took the pen back! Mr. Bradley texted he was on the way and a picture of him included. Smart move by Busby's. Makes whoever is home KNOW who to expect. He was efficient, kind, and respectful. He answered all my questions, checked things I asked about,, and even showed me the filters had been put in upside down. Kids! He made a recommendation on a float but didn't push for a sale. This company is a total ripoff. This company installed a new A/C system in my home almost 18 months ago.The A/C unit stop working a few days ago. After arriving; the technician took almost 2 hours to tell me the variable speed motor went out. I think this company technician are train to stall and pretend they are working hard. The news only got worse. First I was advise the parts were under warranty; but not the $ 437.00 labor charge. second I was advise it would take the company 3 business days to acquire the parts. They had the nerve to charge me a $98.00 diagnostic service fee. I contacted a friend of the family who works as a A/C technician. He was able to find the part for $230.00. He charge me $40.00 labor. It took this guy less than 30 minutes or less to complete the job. I will never recommend this company to friends or neighbors. read more

A few months ago I called a local company about my gas powered central heat systems. For the cost of a service call, my unit was superficially assessed, deemed "broken", and I was offered the chance to make a sales appointment for a new unit. Today I called Busby's. My unit was thoroughly assessed. It was disassembled to inspect my heat exchange. Electrical components were tested to isolate the exact source of the problem. The issue was found and solved. For the cost of a service call, I was left with a functioning unit and peace of mind. I could not have received more honest and professional service. I had questions, and they were all politely and thoroughly answered by Jerry. I know more about my HVAC system than I did before the service call. I am now a lifetime customer of Busby's. Called Busbys to replace a very small part (ignitor) on my furnace. Estimate was for $575! I ended up doing it myself for $46 (part at Fox Appliance) and about 30 minutes time. I find their estimate a clear ripoff and in no way secures my future business. I would have paid a fair price. read more

I was quoted a price of $1800 to replace a compressor. When I asked for a written estimate it came in over $3000. When I questioned the amount I was told the person who quoted the original price was new and made a mistake. I had another quote for less than $2000 so I went with them. I received a bill today from Busby's for their $98 "diagnostic fee". Feels like a bad Bait and Switch tactic to me. read more

I had them install a new unit many years ago. So professional good workmanship no problems atall. Had them come and clean it several times. I used to pay something like $99 for this service. They now want to charge $495 for that same service, that is an absolutely absurd increase in price and I will never do business with them again since the prices have been marked up so much for simple services such as a cleaning of the unit. read more

I previously contacted this company to get some information on their AC service and I was sorely dissapointed in the conversation that i had with the receptionist. I was spoken to in an un-professional manner as if I were a bother to her for asking certain questions. If she did'nt know the answer to my question, she could have responded in a more professional tone. Our air conditioning went out at the hottest part of the summer. Busby's was quick about getting us an appointment and the customer service was excellent! They send you an email that your tech is on the way along with their photo! Our tech was thorough and fair giving us an honest opinion on our options. Made an appointment two weeks in advance. On day of appointment Busby's called to let me know technician was on way. Chris arrived on time, did a excellent job in doing the Spring Cleaning special on my Trane Heat/Air outside pack. Been using Busby's since 1993. Have no complaints. Yes they are high in price, but one time I used a different Air Condition Service company, and was charged $129 just to dust out the gas unit and check burners, which were good. Busby's does more for their $99 Spring Special in cleaning air conditioning part of unit. Heating side not cleaned but didn't need it anyway. Chris did an excellent job. Hi, Rick from Busby's came to my home today, and had my power switch problem diagnosed before he even looked at the HVAC unit! He was professional, fast, and the price charged was very reasonable. He saved me and my pet from 82-88 degree heat that we have been living in for the past week! He was very courteous and knowledgeable and I had a previous HVAC company send out a totally inept guy who just wasted my time and misdiagnosed after wandering around for almost 5 hrs. Busby's was wonderful, they had a cancellation and came a couple of days early, they diagnosed quickly, the technician Rick, had years of experience and was very courteous and even wore the little mud booties! 4 years ago when my old AC unit went bad contacted this organization got an estimate for 6k for a new unit. In the last four years i have had nothing but problems, in the first 18 months the the unit started to produce a burning wire smell. Had them service the unit and found that a loose wire had shorted out in the system. The tech tied it out of the way and the system seemed fine for about 7 days then in the middle of the night smoke and burning smell started to come from the system and almost caught on fire. Called them out again now the blower motor burned out they replaced that after a 7 day wait for a new motor to come in. Once the new motor was replaced it would not start further testing found that the circuit board had burned out too. 300. dollars on a system that was only 2 years old. Finally the blower fan blades fell part about 8 months later. They replaced the blower fan blades but i had to pay for the service call. Now time to have an annual service done on the system and they wanted 500 for them to come out and do a 3 hour cleaning service on the system. I can not believe after spending 6k on a new Trane system that is only 4 years old i continually have problems with this system. I am afraid now that because of the damage by the blower blades blowing out it have damaged the evaporator coils which should have been check when they fixed the blower blades. They would be glad to charge me for replacing that too. read more
